I even told the doctor, Daniel Mann, that I suspected pneumonia. He listened to my lungs for less than 10 seconds, dismissed my concerns, and prescribed me an inhaler, steroids, and a cough suppressant--despite the fact that I told him I did not have a cough. When I asked for clarification about my symptoms, the only explanation I was given was "it's probably a cold." When I asked if he could say with certainty that it was not pneumonia, he told me yes. I had to push just to get a COVID and flu test, because in my life I've never had a "cold" this severe. To be fair, I understand my visit was close to closing time. However, this was the only urgent care open at the time, and I simply cannot afford an ER visit. I was hoping for thorough care and reassurance, but instead left feeling dismissed and confused. Over the following week, my symptoms did not improve and actually got worse, especially the difficulty breathing. I ended up going to a different urgent care for a second opinion, where they performed a chest X-ray and confirmed I do in fact have pneumonia. That means I spent an entire week untreated, walking around contagious, exposing my baby brother and my best friend who has severe asthma and lung issues. This misdiagnosis and dismissal could have had serious consequences for me and the people around me. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of thoroughness and the disregard for my symptoms, and I would strongly caution others about the level of care provided here.

I called 2 times in between to confirm these things. They promised me both would happen same day and with Cindy. Sydney, a pa, has no idea what is going on, doesn't know how to do a pap or how to do physicals on new patients! My wife is there and she is seeing a pa and they are saying she should go somewhere else for a pap. They also couldn't do a complete physical because it was her first visit. He sat and went through so much with me that I was beyond blessed to have him as my Dr. The entire staff was so kind and so incredibly nice! I was in and out in a little over an hour! I have had over 50 years of experience with Drs. and in more recent years with specialists. When I…read morewas a kid my Dr. was a DO. I have been to many Drs. since then but my older brother stayed with him driving a couple hours each way to see that Dr. until he retired well into his 80s. He was a kind, gentle, caring man that listened to his patience. Dr. Byington has a similar manner. He isn't Dr. House or some other know-it-all Dr. but he listens and cares and has referred me to a number of specialists who focus on the specific issues. When I wasn't satisfied with the care of a specialist, he found me another who was more proactive. This has happened on a couple occasions. I once had a Dr. who also did clinical research. After going to him for a few years he came in to see me for an appointment and said, "So, are you a new patient?" telling me he didn't have a clue about me and he hadn't looked at the chart to see that he had seen me for a few years. That was my last appointment with that Dr. I have been with Dr. Byington for a decade or two (I really don't know how long) and I appreciate him for listening, kindness, and putting up with me for all these years. As with anything, you are the expert on your own body and need to do your best to take care of it but having a Dr. who will actually take the time to listen, refer you to the experts/specialists when necessary, and advocate on your behalf is also a part of good care. I have seen too many medical care professionals that really didn't seem to care for the person. Dr. Byington cares and I like that,
