Very nice RV park in a pretty region of Newfoundland. This campground was once a provincial park. The campground is about 30 minutes from Port Aux Basques, about 2km off the TCH. Far enough that you don't hear the traffic. There is a gift shop on site with a lot of locally made handicrafts. The wifi is strong with multiple networks. There are 2 comfort stations with washrooms and showers. Firewood is free. There are 38 3-way hookup sites, 50+ feet wide. The 3W sites are not positioned in rows: you do not feel like you are in a parking lot! All sites are back in. Well manicured and tidy lawns between level gravel pads. The sites are mostly open, although there are many trees and shrubs (no low branches). Most sites have a view of the mountains and/or the Grand Codroy River. The 2W sites (39-69) are set up in 3 rows, about 30' wide. All sites are back in. The tent sites are randomly placed, overlooking the river and in between 2 of the 2W rows. There isn't too much for kids. The play area has a couple swings, teeter totter, and a sandbox, but they look abandoned. Grand Codroy is one of the loveliest RV campgrounds I've ever seen anywhere. This campground is a good one. We are a family of four, with two pre-teen children and stay in a large tent. One of the problems in Newfoundland is that it is immensely difficult to get a site with decent grass for a tent that will also provide electricity for us to recharge everything. Grand Codroy was one of the few campgrounds that provided this for us. The bathrooms were fairly clean and were well stocked. The firewood is free, which makes for very happy kids and parents. The electrical hookup requires an adapter to plug in a regular household cord, but they have these available for a $10 deposit which is returned to you when you return the adapter. The lady at the office/store is very kind, friendly, polite and courteous. The lots were spacious. Garbage cans at the lot and emptied regularly. Evenings were quiet at a good time to get to sleep without disturbances. The only hesitations I would have in giving this location a straight up 5 stars are: Bathrooms could have been a tiny bit cleaner. There was only one outlet with the adapter, I should have brought a powerbar. The mosquitoes would carry you away! BUT, in fairness if you are staying in that part of Newfoundland, they are bad.
