We went at night, casino floor wasn't busy. No smoking except for the smoking room that has a door to enter. Self serve soda station and food court area next to the buffet. I had fun. Plenty of machines to choose from with fun themes and graphics. They did their job by entertaining me, giving me some highs and lows. I spent about $200 over two nights which is reasonable. If I spent two nights anywhere else and wanted to be entertained, a concert, a show, it wouldn't have been any less expensive. However, the blackjack table minimum was $10 which kept me away. Drink prices are reasonable. I stayed two nights in the hotel which was fine. The reviews had me worried but I thought the room was good with a microwave and little fridge. The mattress could have been better. That's my only complaint. The pool and hot tub are nice, clean, updated. I had dinner at the Grille House both nights. The food was decent, not expensive. The chopped salad was not chopped, though, and not much of a wine selection. I suggest you arrive a bit early, 5:30ish to avoid a long wait. read more

The steaks were very good as usual, but the Brussel Sprouts were so undercooked that we had trouble cutting them with a steak knife. Decent casino, nice suites but food is scarce after midnight. Plenty of card tables and slots for gambling, but food options are limited.

The room furniture is terrible. The bed is totally uncomfortable. There is only one chair in the room and that is also terrible. They eliminated the buffet. What is left some fast food or vending machine type food. There is not anything open during the week for breakfast. We have to dr into town to get something to eat. Save your money and go somewhere else. We will not be back. Then on top of everything else we are staying 2 nights and they didn't even service the room. We get to use dirty towel etc. This place is unbelievable. l will never come here again and I advise anyone else to do the same. read more

"Back by popular demand!" ....don't believe that for a second y'all. We made a stop at the Grand Casino on New Years Day for their lunch buffet and let's just say, I don't plan to come back. Yes, there were many selections. Yes, the staff were nice. Unfortunately, this didn't help save the food quality or overall atmosphere. The first major issue with this place is the heavy cigarette smoke smell that wafts into the dining area. I understand that it's a casino, and this smell lingers because of that, but man oh man...having the slot machines right next to the buffet was NOT a smart idea. As someone who does not smoke, having this overpowering smell immediately ruined my experience. As for the food, they have a little bit of everything...but they need to work on their cooking skills in the back. The steak was undercooked and under-seasoned...it was easily the worst steak I've ever had. The fried fish was overcooked. The soup selection was mediocre and to be honest with you, the only food I somewhat enjoyed was their Mexican food station. I made a carnitas bowl, and the meat was very tender. Besides that, the food here is garbage. Save yourself $10.99, and find a better restaurant. Trust me, you're not missing out anything. The casino was cute, the restaurant was cheap and had good food, and the staff in the casino and restaurant were friendly. That's why I'm giving it a 2 instead of a 1. However, the hotel SUCKED! I will never stay there again. My friend and I had reservations to check in at 4, right? Apparently that does not mean you can check in at 4. We had to wait over TWO HOURS before a room was available. I guess this is the norm there. What's the point of having a reservation???? They said they would call when a room "was ready" WTF....never called. Had to go through a LONG line three times before we could get into our room, never did get a call. We rented a chalet for 3 nights. Not impressed to say the least. We had been here a few years ago and really enjoyed our stay here. This time around is much different. I had told them we were going to be a late check-in and they did not tell me that I would have to run all over to three different spots to be able to check in after hours it was a huge hassle and it took about 45 minutes to finally get in to the area where the chalets are. Upon my arrival I realized that there is a refrigerator and a stove but no dishes or cookware as there was a few years ago when we stayed. When I called the hotel front desk they told me that because of covid they no longer supply cookware or dishes which I found rather ridiculous because there's no virus hovering over your dishes just because of something that may be existed three or four years ago. They were supposed to tell us when we made the reservation that we needed to bring our own cooking supplies which is one of the reasons why we came here because there's a kitchen but now we can't use it because there's no dishes and no cookware not even a toaster. I was informed by the front desk that I should go to Dollar general and buy cookware tomorrow morning to which I replied no I'm not buying cookware so I can cook for 2 days. Rather frustrating there's no extra sheets or blankets for the hide a bed sofa in the living room and only one roll of toilet paper or barely one roll of toilet paper. Not to mention the pillows with sweat stains all over them it's pretty gross and I'm disgusted. But, I paid for 3 nights, so I guess we're stuck. read more

Im looking through the peep hole and say you got the wrong room and he says "open the door and find out". My cousins calling down and we threaten to call cops. I look out the peep hole and see he doesn't have any pants on just his gitch. Im like I think he doesn't have pants on and he's wrapping on the door again, and I say "fuck Man U got the wrong room." My cousin is like are they there yet, I'm like no!!! Shit it was a good five minutes of this perv outside. I shake my head and think he can't possibly be in his underwear. Finally the security show up. And escort him to two rooms while he tries and figures what room is his. He's right next door and the other security comes up to tell us it's ok. They gave us a different room and escort us past the freak in his underwear. When we get escorted I ask if he was in his underwear, and the guy says yes! I was sick! Grossed out! Terrified! This guy knew what he was doing! How he got the door open is freaky but that upper locked probably saved us from kicking his ass. It's scary to think what could have happened. Indigenous women and women in general beware! There are freaks in this house looking to perp on unsuspecting women. Don't open your doors for anyone at this casino! On the way up north we stopped by the casino for dinner. This review is for the Stories Diner within the casino. I had ribs and the portion was fairly small. The taste was mediocre. I read that it came with buttermilk style biscuits. They were silver dollar sized. Only a few fries. The meat was not tender. The sauce did not taste unique. It seemed about as good as Kraft or Sysco BBQ sauce. Ambiance was plain. Service was pretty good. I wish I could say more but there's just not that much to say. Just not that impressed. If I could make some suggestions, here's what they would be. Drop the price by a dollar or increase portions by 10-20%. A few more fries cost 10 cents but make all the difference to a paying customer. Increase the biscuit size to a regular Pilsbury sized biscuit or just give one decent sized biscuit instead of 2 minis. Throw a small garnish on the plate for some color ( a sprig of kale or sliced orange). Presentation goes a long way as well. One orange and one bunch of Kale would zest up 10 plates or more but would cost nearly nothing. Kale lasts forever. There are more fancy restaurants within the casino that are better suited for smaller or more artistic fare. If someone goes to a diner, they are looking for big portions of home cooked food. Resort offers a large campground, pool, hot tub, volleyball and horsehoe station. Full hookups are provided, as well as, a shuttle that runs nonstop to the neighboring casino. The shuttle will pick you up and drop you off at your campsite. Tips are appreciated. Resort property is well taken care of and the staff is friendly. Outside of the resort nothing much is going on in the small town other than the casino. Office sells RV and camping supplies and snacks. You can rent golf carts or bring your own. read more

This casino is basically a very, very smoky nursing home. I was obligated to be here for a conference and after 2.5 days I am pretty sure I have lung cancer. I'm serious - the smoke situation is terrible. If you are a smoker though, this place is probably 5 stars. The casino is the same as most other rural casinos - tons of slots, some video poker, a few table games. I saw a few comments about how The Grand Hinckley stands up to Vegas casinos. Bwahahahaha - no. No, it does not. But if you're into low stakes gambling and you live somewhat nearby it gets the job done. I didn't really gamble because even the "no smoking" area was pretty offensive. Seriously, up your ventilation game, Grand Hinckley! The attached hotel was better than I expected and the Winds Steakhouse was actually very good as well. The second star is because every employee I encountered was genuinely nice. Maybe it's a good place to see a show? They had a varied lineup advertised - Lynryd Skynyrd, professional food yeller Robert Irvine, Alabama and even the Chippendales. Pretty sad I'm missing that last one. If you are a frequent visitor, it seems like it makes sense to sign up for their players club as they were advertising lots of discounts on meals and giveaways of stuff (free Oneida flatware set, anyone? My wife and I booked a room for a weekend get away because everything in Duluth was booked. The room was booked on the casino website. Upon arrival, we were assigned room 263. When we walked in the room, the bed table lamp would not work. I pulled out the bedside table and realized the light was unplugged. When I plugged it in, I observed multiple pizza crusts behind the night stand. Also. in front of the night stand there was a large red stain in front consistent with blood. The carpet had multiple cigarette burns and multiple splices. I have never complained about room conditions, but this time I did. When I complained to the night manager, he moved us to room 454. Upon arrival, we observed food crumbs on one of the beds and things on the floor. It was obvious that the bedding had not been changed on the second bed in the room and the floor had not been vacuumed. We then spoke to the night manager and requested a refund. He stated we booked through a third party and it would take a few days. to see a refund. We advised him that we booked on their website and he argued that we did not. He advised that it would take 3-5 days to see the refund. After that time, we followed up and they told us we were refunded in the amount of $161.00. We were charged $261 when we booked the room. Its frustrating and we will not be booking at an indian casino again. read more

Pros: Although I don't gamble at the grand casinos much anymore I was able to get a room on a Wednesday night for $10. Some of the employees were pretty friendly. I thought the shrimp dinner and breakfast were pretty good at the Diner. The brunch buffet was really good for $10.99. Much better than before it was revamped. Cons: We were helping celebrate my uncle's 95th birthday. The reactions we got were not super great. Some employees seem to just be doing their job. So be it. Feels different there now. Our room was a little grungy including bottom of toilet being dirty. There were three of us in our little group. All was lost. I won a nice amount on one machine which would have been great had we not been spending the night there. I really felt like there are all these new machines and renovations with the restaurants and we were paying for them. I didn't see one person get hand paid and saw no wins over $400 which was rare to even see. We got bonuses but most were small and biggest was one time $50. Same feeling at Mille Lacs. I have now banned myself from both these casinos unfortunately . read more

Overall had a good time but I was told by the EMT that I couldn't stand 6 feet away from the card tables and watch them play cards. Confusing much? Other people were doing it but I couldn't? Stayed overnight at hotel and found it fine as was clean and staff friendly at check-in. Buffett was closed as not open every day. We stayed on a Wednesday. Slots gave bonus plays, but paid poorly. I have found at other casinos also that slots are willing to award bonus play, but then you get a bunch of free plays and still win very little. Example 15 free spins and winning less than $3.00. I was betting $2:00, so they can give you all the bonus's they want as long as they don't pay anything. The only way to win is hit a jackpot, which in 30 years I have never hit! It doesn't matter much where you go to gamble, they empty your wallet quickly and send you on your way. What is frustrating is the lack of play time. One can easily drop $100-200 in an hour. This review is just based on the casino and not the concerts. I am not a regular casino player at all but felt inclined to rate this place based on our observations as we passed through the casino to attend the concert. It is basically a senor center for smokers. Sick and sad is what I would call this casino. The decor is so outdated, unfriendly and dirty. We were shocked but not surprised with the lack of security to observe teenagers playing the slots. My son who is 16 years old found a group of teenagers playing the slots most of the evening with no security to be seen anywhere. Easy to observe since the place is full of smoking seniors. The place was busy probably because it was a Saturday night. I can't think of anything positive to list about this Casino. read more

Tried the casino site but it was booked so I went to a third party they have blocked out rooms FTI. They were understanding and found us two rooms for the night. Canceled my reservation with orbitz unfortunately I needed to cancel before 4pm in order to get full refund. Orbit rep had me hold while he called casino to see if I could get a parcel or full refund. They refunded both rooms fully. read more

Negative - Well, this maybe a plus...if you like being in a building that smells like car exhaust, then this place is for you. Another reviewer wrote about it being a smoky nursing home. That is pretty accurate. Looks like the "tribe" is not putting much back into the interior of this place. Food was bland, machines are set for poor payoffs. If you have ever been to Vegas, you'll see what I mean quickly. To not end on a negative note, the shows are good for the area. So I'll bump it up to two stars for that. read more
