Inconspicuous during the daytime, El Camborio's facade comes to life around midnight, along with most of Granada's denizens. Offering reasonably priced drinks and no shortage of Reggaeton music, this nightclub offers an intimate yet lively atmosphere that is a favorite among locals and the myriad international students alike. Word to the wise: walking there can be a treacherous hike from even the nearby Plaza Nueva, built as it is into the steep foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. No cause for concern however; cabs in Granada are cheap, and on certain nights presenting your taxi receipt can gain you free entry. This kills two birds with one stone, and you'll feel like Studio 54 royalty as you waltz past that winding line out front and up those whitewashed stairs (which should also be treated cautiously; they've claimed many casualties coming down).

After looking around in the small streets for a while, we did find the Afrodisia Club, and boy, there was a party going on! Really good hip hop music, not just the crap you will hear in the pop charts, prices for beer were absolutely okay. Funny thing was the mixed audience. A lot of (white) American students were partying their ass off, lots of spanish locals, many immigrants from Africa. All peaceful. We even saw a b-boy battle that resolved a minor conflict between a Spanish and an immigrant hip hop/b-boy crew. This was most definitely the best hip hop party I've ever been to. Great atmosphere in a nice club that's neither too big nor too small. Due to the little Spanish we were speaking communication wasn't esay, but we even got to know some of the locals and immigrants and hab (limited but) really nice conversations with them. That, plus the great selection of music, makes me recommend the Afrodisia to all hip hop headz visiting Granada. It will enrich your stay in the city with an experience fundamentally different from that of the Alhambra one showing you the subcultural life in a modern Spanish city.

I happened to be here on Latin night and they had good music and dancers to go with it. You will pay a cover, but it comes with a "complimentary" drink. Service was prompt and friendly, thought when I asked for a Jameson and ginger, I got Dewar's and ginger. Gross, but at least the pour was generous. Booze may be cheap in Spain, but this place is definitely an exception. Mixed drinks were around 7€.

Now please accept an official apology here. The road listed may well not be the road Babylon…read moreoccupies. For those of you who have visited Granada though you will know this is not a problem. A two minute walk from Plaza Neuve is as good a direction as you'll ever receive in the narrow alleys and streets of Granada. Simply get there and ask your way people are always helpful in this part of the world and they will see you right. When you do find yourself in Babylon you will be in one of a few clubs in this part of town. More of a bar really considering the size of the "dance floor". Babylon also boasts a little seating area (with chique little beds) and a wild selection of fruit mojitos (mango was my personal favourite). What recommends this place over any one of the other bars and bodegas out there is simply the fact it remains open until 4am. And being on top of Plaza Neuve (your nearest taxi rank) its easy to get home from when your done. The typical friendly service you get very used to in Granada and not wildly expensive (at least by British standards), Babylons proximity to where you'll want to be earlier in the night makes it fairly natural as a place to end.
