Why people should buy on line NOT our local toy shop. I put…read moreaside approx 250 euro of toys (mostly lego) as they have a Christmas club in early October. I paid 50euro deposit on that day.I kept the receipt & my mobile number was on the top of the page. My reason was its a family run business & support local to keep jobs & revenue in Ireland. Since then I have been buying other toys ie lego even a week ago & I had found it conveint while in the city to buy kids birthday present . I was in Toy Master (Crotty's ) kilkenny today following change of mind of my 4 yrs old & what Santa might be bringing & was abruptly told that the toys should have been collected yesterday 10.12.17. The girl A.M advised her male collage that was standing at the counter she had written to be collected on 10.12.17 on the top of the receipt but questioned was I collecting them today . I explained as the receipt was in a different handbag I had forgotten the date but could pay & collect them now. As I explained to A.M. the change of mind from the bat mobile to coastguard, pizza truck etc .. She asked if I knew the codes but I said I would know the lego boxes to view & I went upstairs to get same off the shelve. The gentleman got the pizza truck while I picked up the other 3 lego boxes. When I went down stairs to precede to checkout with changing the bat mobile to the city police etc she was very unhelpful & made me feel I was inconveniently taking her time. (with only 1-2 others in the shop..no queues) Also when she took out the 2 items that my son no longer needed ,1 item was through on the shelf behind her in an aggressive manner. I asked if I could have black bags as there own toy master bags are very light weight & I did not want others to see what I was buying. This was then repeated by A.M to her male collage SHE WANTS BLACK BAGS...as much to say not only is she changing her mind but now she wants black bags. 1of the black bag was tore but I differently was NOT asking for another as they both could not get me out of this shop quick enough!! Where do you start ...BUY ON LINE AND YOU DONT GET THAT IGNORENCE... As the manager was the male collage no point in complaining..... If it was a problem I didn't drive in the snow & ice to collect santa toys on the 10.12.17 then why didn't she ring me as my mobile was on the receipt.. I spent in total 285 euro for santa & approximately 600 euro throughout the year in total. Thank god Ken black is in kilkenny as I will be not be back in toy master kilkenny.

Eventually found it after a few false starts and U-turns. The thing I always find about Smyths is that every time I go in I feel somewhat overwhelmed. I mean it's a huge shop with floor to ceiling shelves of brightly coloured things... as I walk in I can never figure out how exactly I'm going to find the thing I'm looking for. The one in Tallaght is no exception, although it's quieter than the one in town, which means at least my ears wheren't assailed at the same time as my eyes. After wandering around a bit and wondering where the aisle with the trucks on it would be, I found what I was looking for. While pondering the various merits of tractors versus diggers (and indeed possible choking hazards), one of the staff asked if I would need any help. He really was helpful in finding age appropriate toys for the discerning two year old who prefers things to look like replicas rather than toys, and I ended up buying something on the shelf which he directed me to. It's probably also worth saying that there doesn't seem to be a large carpark near the store but there is a reasonable amount of on-street parking, although how available that is during the day I don't know.
