Another Vallejo church became the 3rd in the city to become Open & Affirming in 2014, 20 years after us. We have been ahead of the curve on many progressive issues. As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we encourage independent thought and reflection on the meaning of the Bible. We focus on outreach and social justice issues. We have hosted the Ecumenical Global Holiday Faire for 18 years to raise money for many local and global non-profit organizations. We help sponsor the Vallejo Hunger Walk to raise money for CROP which is Church World Service's hunger relief agency, as well as four local organizations. We have had teams in the past at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. We have a garden where we grow vegetables to donate to local programs which make meals for the homeless. We are a founding member of Common Ground, an organization that unites local churches and other non-profits in Solano and southern Napa counties to work on issues facing our communities like public safety, crime, homelessness, and immigration.
