Wow. God has really Wowed me at this place. Not because of the pretty red curtain surrounded around…read morethe theater, or the little red chair that fit me perfectly to sit in, or the size of the stage that fits the whole worship team band or the size of the big enough size of theater screen that function perfectly for me to be able to clearly read the lyrics of the worship songs we sing that night. But because what had happened that night, the word of 'wow' was not even enough to describe God's awesomeness that night. I want to share with you my experience a few of month ago attending service at Barracks Row. It was Saturday evening, I Initially I planned to attend the young adult that was started at 5 PM. But then I heard the announcement for the second service at 7:14 PM, so I decided to continue to attend the second service without clearly knowing it was actually a special event at that second service. I thought at that time, Ok, I don't mind to continue, I will take my break, have some cake, and back for the second round. :) So I did. I stop at one of the restaurant around there, kick back, have a cup of tea and a slice of yummy Tiramisu, wait a little to get in to the 7:14 PM service. It was started with a great praise and worship, and times goes by, next after that Pastor Mark sharing the word of God and then followed by praise and worship again. Then, time goes by again, I look at my the time, it was 8:45...man...at that time, I was wondering, when is this service will be end? :) Don't get me wrong, I love being there, I was a bit concerned at that time, will it be safe enough to walk out and to get home after that, considering the area surrounding is still progressing and improving. And then I hear Pastor Mark say something like in the next 11 hours we all going to be in the presence of God to hear God's word and to praise Him. OmG! The light bulb went off! At that time I realized, Man! This is an overnight praise and worship! I am attending the all night long praise and worship! Great! I thought to my self. I can't help to smile at that time. I feel like God saying this to me: this is the time for you to hang out with Me. Sit still, in peace and enjoy My Presence. If you can spend all that night hours to party, out and about, stay awake and dancing all night long, this is My turn for you to sit in My Presence and worship Me. I can't help it to even have a bigger smile. I thought to my self, "Great! What am I getting my self in to?" ~ again, this is one of those wow moment in life. :) Life is like a box full of surprises for me anyway. It's always an adventure. :) And I thought, You got me God! Yes! He got me good. :) As I know my self well, sometimes, even though I actually plan to do just one thing, but when I face the situation or an invitation to do another things that also important and necessary, I usually stick with it, continue and to do it all the way. :) I was certainly at the point of no return at that time. I went all in and all the way to worship Him that night. :) I am really glad I did it, I feel blessed to be in that place at that time to praise God, to be a part of a celebrations of God. :) After all He did for me, for all His blessings, for His Love and mercy to me, as He is never give up on me all this time, this is the least thing I can do, to worship Him, to honor Him with my time, to sit and to enjoy His presence. I thank God for those moments and I smiled and I said: It is well. It is well with my soul. :) So for all of you my fellow Yelpers around Washington DC Metro area who is looking for a place to worship every Saturday and Sunday. This Church is one of the good options in the city, as one of a good Bible base Church in the city. And you can come as your self, you can dress casual but decent or even get a little dress up. :) And perhaps, as the non Church building can be less intimidating to enter to for some of us. :) Enjoy the sermon. :) Peace and blessings to you! :)

This church is blessed by the Holy Spirit. Thank you Pastor Mark! There is coffee available for…read morefree before service.

Mark Dever unapologetically preaches from the Word of God in a region of the country that is desperate for truth. The music was phenomenal, highlighted by natural acoustics and the voices of many joyful Christians. If you are in the DC area and need a great Church that speaks truth directly from the Bible, I would give this place a visit!

However, the community was incredibly unkind. As first-time visitors, we were unsure where to go when we arrived, and no one offered assistance. Despite seeing us looking lost, ushers and other church workers neither greeted us nor helped us find our way. When we finally located the sanctuary and asked about the children's classes, the ushers continued to walk past without speaking, and some looked at us without offering a greeting or welcome. As I walked down the hall, a woman who seemed to be either a church worker or a regular member shoved past me, looked me up and down, and continued on to talk to someone else. During our almost three-hour visit, only three people spoke to us: two ladies who sat near us and one person we happened to know. We are African American, but there were many other African Americans and people of color in attendance, which made the unkindness we experienced even more confusing. This level of unkindness and disregard was something we had never encountered in a church before. It was deeply disappointing to witness such a beautiful and meaningful service, only to see the absence of Christ's love in how the members and workers treated visitors. Despite arriving early and seeing numerous people with "usher" badges, not a single one welcomed us. My hope is that this church, with its beautiful service, learns to demonstrate the love of God they preach about by showing kindness to visitors. Training ushers to greet and welcome newcomers could make a significant difference. We had heard so many wonderful things about this church and were excited to visit. We were hungry for good theological teaching, hymns, and solid Christian fellowship. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome in the community.

Honestly if it was not for this event I would have not visited the Cathedral in the manner and missed out on anything in the future. The event was not crowded at all. It was the perfect amount of people. The communication leading up to the event was perfect! The event itself was amazing, so I would do it again. We were provided with so much information about the Cathedral and given time to explore in our own. Stunning! There is so much history here and stories. The property itself has so much to offer both inside and outside. The landscaping is perfect for a quiet moment to just sit, the gardens provide a wonderful environment to reflect. Parking is available but you can take the bus to get here or ride share. All of the staff I encountered during my visit were extremely helpful, kind, knowledgeable, courteous and eager to help. Follow their social media and join their email list to stay up to date on events. I just signed up for a Yoga event.

Adjacent to Catholic University of America, Trinity University and numerous other Catholic institutions, the Basilica's massive blue and gold dome soars high into the sky and can been seen for miles, with an equally grand bell tower at its side. The bells are very much in use today, and sound on the hour and quarter hours. It's the largest Roman Catholic Church in North America and one of the 10 largest churches in the world. That pretty much sums its up. Clearly, this is a very big place. There are many parts to the Basilica, and is impeccably maintained. A great neighbor, I might add (I live in the Northeast). The Basilica is home to more than 80 chapels and oratories honoring the Mother of God, reflecting the ethnic heritage and diversity of the Catholic Church in the United States. The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C., is America's Catholic Church, a National Shrine dedicated to the Blessed Mother, patroness of our nation. It is a prayerful house of worship, pilgrimage, evangelization, and reconciliation. Mary's Shrine invites people from across the country and beyond to share in Christ's ever-living Presence through the companionship and love of His Mother. I recently attended a week-long conference on the campus of the Catholic University of America - and this magnificent grandeur of America's Largest Catholic Church & one of the 10 largest in the world - boasts itselt as "a monument of love and gratitude, a great hymn in stone. . .as perfect as the art of man can make it and holy as the intentions of its builders could wish it to be." (Bishop Thomas Shahan) Indeed, what a spectacular experience first-hand spiritual nourishment by attending masses in both the Upper Church and Crypt church (I had gone to the Sunday 4:30 p.m. & Friday Daily Mass at 12:10 p.m.), in addition to the highlight concert of the convention week that gave us a glimpse of the many expressions of music: from the 56 bells of the Knights Tower Carrillon, to the narly 10,000 pipes of the great organs - as well as the voices of the Choir of the Basilica joined by us attendees and the faithful of both locals & tourists in the DMV region! I was able to walk around the Basilica's perimeter, as well as adorn the grounds and peruse through the many side chapels depicting Mother Mary in all cultures and heritages that represent the great devotion to the Blessed Mother around the world! In addition, the Basilica is well-kept and well-preserved, as well as secured - thanks to the many docents and security personnel that keeps visitors safe! Did I mention free parking?! I definitely would want to keep coming back here as my travels allow me!
