This is a consignment shop that makes money for them and for you. It is always busy. The folks who work there are abused by some folks because they will not accept some items. They work hard for their pay. They are not in the habit of taking back things they have sold once. That is like wearing a dress with the tag on and then returning the dress for full price. They are a business and businesses must make a profit. They provide really nice home decor items and clothing as well. If you are nice, They are really nice as well. Have done business with them for a while but lately I've noticed that I take lots of nice things in there that I know that they will accept cuz some of the things were things I bought there and then whenever I decided to go with the different decor I take them back and sell them. So lately in the last several months I've been taking a lot of nice things in there and not having any money when I go to my account and this has happened twice and whenever I talk to them about it in the consignment shop in O'Fallon they treated me like I was stupid. I've been doing business with Grace 20 years. The service and kindness were evident when she and her kids worked there. Now I think there a a bunch of random people that just consider it a paycheck. The intake has become more and more rude by the year. If you are expecting good service at this point, look elsewhere. I am in the area visiting family. I love to hit up thrifts stores while in a new town, if you like to shop thrift stores, Grace's should be on your list! Great selection of home decor. I would guess that most was from previous home staging gigs. They have them set up in lil collections, easy to shop and prices are great. Been here many time 30 minutes to closing bc that is when I'm in the area. They turn off music everytime 15 mins before closing and announce every 5 minutes that they are about to close (and I'm always one of a couple people in the entire store). I tried to open a consignment account. After bringing in 40 items there were only 7 that she would accept. The boy in the accepting area was very rude and not helpful at all. I was hanging clothes on hangers as he ordered. After a couple of items were placed where I was told to place, this young man came to me and told me I had to go outside to put clothes on hangers and then bring them inside. No explanation on why I couldn't put merchandise on hangers inside, just get outside and do it!! No help from him, even to get in the door with my heavy boxes. I called to make an appointment to bring stuff up to sell. They told me I didn't need an appointment and to bring up my stuff but a limit if two boxes. I drove a halh hour and brought two carefully packed boxes. Carried them in only to have a lady tell me they weren't taking new customers. She was rude about it like I has put her out. When I said she should have told me that on hhe phone she became ruder, "No. We've got a lot going on!" Two seconds on the phone is all it would have taken them to save me two hours of my time and this lady wouldn't even admit that they should tell people on the phone that they're not accepting new customers. My wife has sold close to the store many times for many years, occasionally she will ask me to get involved and drop clothes off for her. I personally dropped off clothes three times in the past six months but have not asked for any of the funds, as I would like to have my wife handle that piece. I droped Ed clothes off today and asked what the balance was so I could relay that to my wife. They said we had a zero balance and we're being charged a maintenance fee of some type. Last time I was there I was told we had $106 balance, so again I relayed that to my wife so she could keep track. Today, they proceed tell me we have a zero balance, and we owe maintenance fees of $.50, which is not the issue at all. When I questioned them about their recordkeeping, the young man in the tie-dye shirt who was there last time I was there wasn't sure what to do, his manager who I believe is the owner Grace went into the records and told me they have not cut a check to our family since 2019. $106 is nothing I'm going to pursue legal action on, my hope is to let others know to keep very good records and take all money rather than letting a credit build up. Although I can't prove it, someone in there is taking money from people and I believe it's due to leaving an ongoing balance. The young man in the tie-dye shirt told me to get the F out of there. And continue to y'eall from behind the counter. As if he was trying to impress his coworkers, I looked at the young scruffy gentlemen and just snickered. Bottom line, I personally wouldn't use this place ever again, just trying to put awareness out there. And whatever rebottle they have, I question the narrative. I wouldn't take the time or energy involved in this over $106. Any further. Beware, and look around for other places that are more professional and don't have poor recordkeeping. I make money bringing my stuff to the store but gosh the owner & employees are rude. Not to mention the business hours that are never correct. They open & close when they feel like it & are extremely rude about that too. The pricing of your items is very inconsistent depending on who gets your stuff to price. They were very rude to my realtor last week when she dropped off a load of stuff for me. She said " well I was going to recommend other clients of mine to use that place but no way in hell now. I used to take my kids clothes there and get a great return on what I would drop off. It had been many years since I have used their services and recently decided to use them again. I have an 18 year old son who grew exponentially in a very short time span. So I literally had brand new large clothes that had been worn once or twice. These were American Eagle, Polo, Vineyard Vines, etc. Great shape, some new with tags, etc. I took over 40 pieces in towards the beginning of November. Went in today to see how much I have sold, they had $35 for me. What a SCAM!!!! I should have known it was a scam when I went to drop off and they told me I can't wait while they review the items, and whatever they don't want they donate, not giving the option for me to see what they are selling and/or donating (if that doesn't scream "we don't want you to see what is going on in here....). I shopped the floor today just to see what kind of items they are taking and my items weren't on the floor and we much nicer than what was out there. I am in complete disbelief!!! How they call themselves Christians is BEYOND me!!! You would be better off donating if you aren't interested in any kind of return. The store has gone downhill over the last year and a half. Workers are rude. Grace is rude. There's some thing suspicious about the profits also. We have dropped off hundreds of items with minimal return compared to several years ago. Today was the last straw: I was informed drop off was until 430 today but it stopped at 1 and they refused to take my items. I have been a seller for 9 years and closed my account today. Grace has made a lot of money off of my items over the years and instead of an apology, all she could say was "have a good day". My plan and my suggestion to anyone reading this- find a more honest and reliable consignment store. read more

I live in Vegas right now, but I'm moving back to Missouri in July. My first stop when I get home? MERRY-GO-ROUND! I have loved this store since I was a kid. It was perfect back then and it's perfect now. The clothes and other items are in great condition. The prices are fair. The things Grace sells are in style, not just old granny clothes that have been sitting in a big pile of mothballs. Grace has literally watched me grow up, so when I visit her store, I feel like I'm really among friends (and not the kind of "friends" you hide from behind a fruit stand in Walmart to avoid being seen). I have been buying and selling at Grace's for years and have always loved it and the people. However...it seems within the last year the employees who are in the consignment drop off area are rude. There is a young man that works in there that comes off as extremely inconvenienced when you walk in the door with stuff. The first time it happened I thought maybe he was just having a bad day, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. But it has happened twice since then, and I have seen him do it to others while I was waiting to be helped. I've been coming into the store since I was a little girl with my Mom and now I have been working for Grace for 12 years as an employee and can't say enough great things about this business, all of the great consignors we have, and our awesome employees, and of course, Grace herself! Such a great lady who always puts a smile on my face! I enjoy being a consignor myself because its such a great way to make a good chunk of change for all the clothes and other things you buy at the store and don't need anymore; all you have to do is make sure everything is in good sell-able condition and acceptable, which is simple once you get your account started and learn how to consign. Just takes a little patience, understanding, and willingness/wanting to learn the ropes by speaking with a drop room staff member about the process in detail! Many of the negative comments on here were posted by people that were, in fact, just unwilling to learn, understand, speak with us, and/or ask questions of us, speak with Grace specifically about something, from the get-go. I also must say, it really pains me to see that a few people had bad experiences with Grace and/or any of the employees (which change constantly). But just like any business, employees are hired, let go, come and go, etc.. and not everyone is going to be a "good" fit for such a fast-paced, involved, retail job, that involves a lot of human interaction and patience, its just a simple fact. With that said, for ANYONE who has ever had a problem with Grace, you have to be completely MAD... or you just really don't understand reason. Grace would NEVER EVER be purposely be unfair, unreasonable, or rude to anyone, let alone her own customers. Honestly the truth is that Grace, her family members that work at the store, and many of new and old-time employees are some of the best people I've ever known and so great to get to know and talk to (which I think reflects deeply in the active consignor base and the relationships and bonds formed between staff and consignors, and our customers over the years!) If you love a GREAT deal on clothes, decor, kitchenwares, jewelry, ect, ect, ect, then come to Grace's to shop! If you want to have a great place that will do it ALL for you (other than making your things look nice, thats up to YOU! and worth it), while making some nice extra cash, then you should definitely come to Grace's to consign. If you want both, then you can come drop off your things, easy as heck, and then go shop and use your account money, come to Grace's! Turnover is extremely fast, so you get your money pretty dang quick as well. Once your account gets started (aka., you reach your 20 acceptable items), its even easier to do because you can drop off any time they are open during the week or 9-1 Sat. Also, you can drop off as much or as little as you want at one time (again, once you have an account!). Its totally worth it! The best consignment shop I've ever been to. Grace's boasts the fastest turnover for resale. Whether you're selling or shopping, this is a store where things are snatched up very quickly and here's why: Grace only accepts good quality clothing, furniture, nic-nacs, etc to sell and looks at the true value of the item to determine the price - she's never overpriced. This is how Grace's store has been around for so long and why people keep coming back. The store is also clean, well organized, and always full of people. I've sold lots of clothing here and bought lots of lovely clothing, furniture, and accessories. Next door, there is an outlet that sells what doesnt sell from the main store at discount prices. Clothes, purses, and shoes are a dollar! Consigning here is pretty easy, just make sure you come early and bring plenty of items when you open your accout for the first time. I have been shopping at Grace's for a decade. Today was my last day. I would spend, on average, $700-$1000 a month on merchandise. I own an eBay store and resell and would get a lot my inventory from Grace's. Last week I picked up a bunch of Victoria's Secret backpacks and Fanny packs. I listed them in my store and was notified two days later that they were counterfeit by the rights ownership group on eBay. Upon closer inspection they were definitely counterfeit. I cancelled all my listings of course as selling counterfeit merchandise is against the law. I spent over $200 on these bags at Graces and they had stacks of them still on the floor, not sure if they had more in back or not. I brought them back with all my receipts and was told that I couldn't get my money back because it was a week since purchase and the consigner has been paid already. Not my problem. Just like it wouldn't be their problem to pay the customers that purchased them from me. I was told to come back in the morning and talk to grace directly. Had I known ahead of time the rudeness and dramatization that was about to take place I would have just taken them directly to the police station with the receipts and let them deal with it. I was told by a worker and a gentleman worker that the reason they only cost $9 was because they were not real Victoria's Secret bags. They went on to berate me and tell me I need to be a "better buyer". No I'm sorry or we didn't realize they were fake. They were mad at me for bringing them back. I had 3 people, including the owner, yelling at me in front of other customers. My husband called up there and was hung up on by Grace and yelled at by the gentleman who works there. I have never in my life encountered such hatred and anger. And they want to make money off of customers? This is certainly not a way to do. In fact it's a way to get yourself tied up in legal matters if you are unwilling to morally and respectfully make business decisions that are within the law. I was finally given my money back, after I was told to wait for them to contact the consigner and see if she would pay them back. Unbelievable. If what you are selling is counterfeit, your 24 hour return policy is void. read more

I worked at this establishment for 3 years & I can tell you they are a crooked family and business. This family claims to be "Christian," but their actions speak far from it. Family members run the store & I would be weary of dropping stuff off to them considering the family had first dibs & often does not pay for things. If you are not family, you're not going to be respected as a worker. After my visit today, I am not only appalled, but utterly dumbfounded that we, as buyers, can be treated so poorly by the owner of Grace's. We bought a beautifully done table, which was a bit larger than expected. The workers were as nice as could be trying to help us fit it into our car, but to no avail. Grace, obviously seeing our struggle, but not bothering to help, comes out and asks us what WE are going to do about it, sarcastically rolling her eyes the whole time. We ask if she could hold it, very politely, mind you. She then goes on a tangent about how much she dislikes irresponsible people, and how we probably are just going to not come back, and stick her with this large piece. We explain that we will be back tomorrow, at the earliest time we can, and that we promise to come back. She continues to mock and heckle us, but she agrees, reluctantly, as she made sure to tell us in great detail.
