The worship was sweet and honest and the pastor and his wife were so down to earth. The message was relatable and enlightening. The pastor introduced himself as I was leaving and invited me to return again, giving me information on other services. He didn't talk to me, he didn't advise me, he ignored me. I even wrote him an email a month ago telling him how he hurt me and he ignored it. He didn't acknowledge how he hurt me--he just ignored me more!! The pastor of a church cared nothing because I wasn't in the cool kids group!! If you're a true follower of Christ, this is not the church for you.

In fact, this was probably the most high-church Novus Ordo mass I have been to. Everything except the readings were sung. The lectors did a particularly good job, I thought. It is a big church, and the 10 am Mass spilled into the overflow room, so there are a lot of EMHCs if that bothers you. The homily was on the long side, and I'm not a big fan of second offerings, but those are minor pet peeves. Overall, it was great and I would be happy to attend again.

The cemetery has close-cropped grass and a number of well-maintained trees. It is a peaceful place other than the roadway traffic going past. The marker reads, "Along with Ebenezer Baptist Church, this cemetery organized in 1854 on land donated by Jonathan and Sarah McGary along a stagecoach road from Huntsville to Austin. Prominent Baptist minister J.W.D. Creath, representing the Southern Baptist Convention, organized the church. Richard Pace was the first pastor of the congregation and is buried here. The earliest marked grave in 1855 established this as a family cemetery. The congregation disbanded and the church reorganized in the West Sandy area. Among those buried here are first families and citizens of the Republic of Texas and veterans of conflicts dating to the Civil War. The Ebenezer Memorial Association, incorporated in 1986, continues to care for this family burial ground. Historic Texas Cemetery - 2005" The grounds are level and easily walkable though not really handicapped accessible. Most of the headstones are legible and in good condition. The history and beauty that ooze out of this Church are undeniably breathtaking. Although it is in…read morea remote location, I would recommend the drive out hereto see one of Texas' famous Painted Churches. However all beauty and history aside, there are a few drawbacks that hold this parish back a bit. My primary criticism is the Liturgy. Despite all the beautiful walls within the church, the mass within the church is a bit... hollow. Why have a gorgeous high altar when you don't even bother to use it? Why instead is the altar that is used look like a little table that barely fits anything? This parish should use the tools that God has given them, not some renovations from the 60's. This is also reflected in the atmosphere of the parish overall. People talking before and after Mass, dressing in jeans or shorts, and just an overall lack of reverance. It's far from the worst offender in the area, but it's just another in a line of irreverent Masses. This church deserves so much more! As for the staff, they seem friendly enough. Fr. Anthony seems nice enough, but he seems like a priest going through the motions. Overall I will always be at awe over the art in this Church and likely will visit again for that reason, however improvements can be made. I've seen much worse here in rural Texas, but this church needs to embrace its traditions. The future of The Catholic Church is in tradition. Younger generations yearn for tradition!

Such a pretty, old, country, wood church with history and beauty. We are new to the church and love…read morethe folks, the peaceful drive to Plantersville, our clergy, religious Ed, and the grounds of St. Mary's. Today we just finished our first time at St. Mary's Annual Bizarre (2019 was their 125th annual bizarre). This bizarre was amazing with a great, large turnout (huge). We loved experiencing the community, the country and homemade BBQ and deserts; live auction so fun; great silent auction and the kids loved the games. We really appreciated how the bizarre is a great gathering feast to Montgomery, Plantersville and around. If visiting the area, St. Mary's would be a nice place to visit followed by Sunday late afternoon fun at Bernhardt Winery in Plantersville.
