It was extremely difficult to put my son in daycare. I had pretty much stayed home with him since birth. We toured many daycares and this one was by far our favorite. It wasn't the most technical, or fancy but I felt the teachers really cared about their kids. My son loves it there and he has learned so much. He started at 10 months and now he is almost 15 months. Grace Academy has been incredible for my three year old daughter. We moved to South Bend temporarily and needed a daycare for our daughter. Lauren (the Director) made room for our daughter and she THRIVED during her time there. The teachers were wonderful, the facility was clean, and I knew she was safe. While we are in the process of moving now, we will miss everyone at GA! Thank you for making our short transition so smooth! The decision to put our children in daycare was a difficult one. We both work full-time, but had previously managed with working opposite schedules to be able to maximize our time at home with our kiddos. After several years of this, we came to the realization that daycare would be the best option. From the moment we walked into Grace Academy we have felt welcomed and our children have been loved and supported. We have enjoyed the various take-home craft activities provided, the lessons our toddler has learned and the love our infant has received. My 1 year old attended this facility for 3 months. I am now off for the summer, so I will no longer take her their full time, but I will continue to take advantage of the "Mommy's Day Out" option. Here are a few things that stuck out to me during our time so far: This is a state accredited daycare and preschool facility so the student to teacher ratio is closely regulated. The hours are great, the organization is thorough, and the security is solid. The staff is SO loving and extremely attentive. Whenever I came to pic up my daughter, the teachers were ALWAYS actively engaged with the kids. They are down on the floor playing with them and loving on them. EVERY teacher I saw was always showing a genuine love and affection for the kids in their classroom. I never felt uncomfortable leaving my daughter there (even when she cried for me as I was leaving). The only reason I am giving the place three stars is because of the pay schedule and the management. I often times felt they dealt with certain issues in a condescending and inflexible way. The pay schedule is pay on Monday for the upcoming week (pay BEFORE you receive services) as opposed to pay Friday (after the services were received). Which... Ok whatever...but one week my daughter was EXTREMELY sick and I had to keep her out of daycare for the week. Yet.... I still had to pay full time full week tuition (around 150 dollars) for care I never received. That seemed a little backwards to me. When I asked the one of the managers why it was set up that way she quite matter of factly reminded me that I signed a contract for full week so that's what I needed to pay for. Also, upon return for the week, I was told at drop off that I needed to pay for the previous week AND the current week before they would take my daughter for the day. I had to buckle her into the car seat and drive to the nearest ATM to shell out 300 bucks so she could stay that day. The lack of understanding and kindness from the managers left a bad taste in my mouth-- especially since the business is ran out of a church. I don't mean to sound harsh, but it's true. Like I said though, I will be taking my daughter back. I LOVE the attention she gets and the structured learning time provided. The classroom staff is EXCELLENT! I will just try to say clear of the managing staff. read more

My son attended here for a little over a year. The teachers were nice. However, Teachers are constantly being switched from room to room. It become evident that the student to teacher ratio was not being followed. My son was in a class for 2 year olds and would have anywhere from 8-11 children in one classroom with one teacher. On these days, my son would act out (not normal) and have bad days. My son couldn't handle being stuck in a 12 X 12 room with 11 toddlers. I'm not sure how his teachers could keep their composure under these conditions. read more

I've been taking my children there for the last 3 years , for at least 4 days a week. My son started when he was almost 3 and is now in Kindergarten, and absolutely loved his teachers! My daughter has been going since she was 8 weeks old and is now 2. The teachers/ caregivers are absolutely wonderful with the kids. My daughter has become so attached to 2 of them that she immediately runs to them when we get there. I couldn't ask for better staff to take care of my children on a daily basis! My only complaints are the management and the payment schedule. Payment for service is expected on Monday , before the service is even given. The manager who oversees the entire program is never there when you need her. Issues are not resolved in a timely manner. There is no flexibility or understanding when "life happens" , and it's a church! You'd think there would be more heart into it. The week of Christmas they were closed for 1 day (for obvious reasons) and open for the remaining 4. My daughter was sick , as was the rest of the family, over several days throughout the holidays. I can't send her to daycare when she is sick so she only went for 2 days. I wrote a check for 2 days of service, which I think is completely fair since you only watched her for 2 days. When she was picked up by her dad that night, there was a note saying that the full amount was still expected, and she would not be accepted the next day until full payment was received ALONG with a $25 late fee. Excuse the language , but that's bullsh*& and everyone knows it! I groveled and complained how not right this was, but paid the remaining balance the very next morning upon drop off (love them, but NOT worth $80 a day). Here we are almost 2 weeks late when I get another note stating that I never paid the $25 late fee and my daughter would not be accepted until payment was made. I found the first manager on duty and argued the heck out of this. First of all, this was a Tuesday and on Monday I had paid a full weeks payment. I argued that someone should have told me this everyday when they saw me over the last 2 weeks , and if you are refusing to take my daughter then I want the full payment back. Of course they said they couldn't do that, and that I had to pay the late fee. The manager of a CHURCH daycare should have more heart for the families that PAY them. I understand "pro-rate" , but change your policy and give some slack for holidays and when your child is sick. Life happens, nobody controls when illness will occur. You are providing the service of a daycare - not a college tuition. Payment of service should be given after the service has been rendered. Plain and simple. Again most of the staff is great , but the management sucks. I am actively looking for another day care after this ridiculous incident. I would not recommend anyone to go there unless they are okay putting up with this. read more
