I have worked with several contractors before on this and previous homes. I apparently have high standards few can meet. These guys were really good. Nothing is perfect, but they sure tried to be. My deck is gorgeous and solid. Everything it should be. They were flexible and helpful and professional. They also provided and architect to design the deck to meet our needs. I had some concerns after the build was done and they were paid (not saying they did anything wrong, but some things I would have liked to have been done differently). They bent over backwards after the fact (and after they were already paid) to make us happy. Including spending more time and materials on my project. I would literally use these guys for anything they would want to do for me. Great experience. Also, their quotes were either in line or less expensive than others for the deck project. Luke met us at the house in December of 2023 and we walked the property with a punchlist. He had the foresight to bring along his interior designer, Amy, who has proved to be amazing! He bid the project and reworked the scope in two weeks. The budget was approved and work began on February 14th. The project included carpet removal, new wood and tile flooring, rewiring of the entire 2800 sq foot basement, design-build basement kitchen-office and workout room, new master bathroom, three additional new bathrooms, new laundry room, addition of a pantry, etc. Needless to say the scope of this project would take most contractors over a year or longer to complete. Luke also managed lawn service, pool care, a mailbox replacement, furniture delivery, new garage door installation, foundation work and internet install. We spoke yesterday and he has scheduled the cleaning crew and a photographer. I will admit we are blown away and beyond impressed! 90 DAYS, ON TIME and ON BUDGET. Recently, we found Luke's Repairs and Remodeling to address the following issues: all interior and exterior doors were replaced and reframed, all pocket doors were replaced with new hardware which required removing and replacing the drywall. We also needed the entire house painted, a closest built around our mechanicals and additional shelving erected in the laundry area, as well as some electrical work. Luke came out, listened to everything we had to say and gave excellent input for the project. He gave us an estimate and stayed within the estimate for the entire job. Luke started on time, communicated throughout the entire timeline and ended on time. Luke, as well as his skilled carpenters, never minded being interrupted with questions and always took the time to communicate clearly. The project took approximately two weeks to complete. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Luke's warehouse to choose the items we needed for the repair and remodeling. Luke also did all the ordering, pick up and checked the materials that were delivered. We never had to bother with any items that were needed for our home. When I asked for his credentials, Luke did not hesitate to provide me a copy of his Kentucky contractor's license and his insurance. We noticed the way Luke was with the men he worked with. DAR Construction LLC hired roofer to install new roof and was incompetent in supervision and quality control of work. I advised DAR Construction to ensure all bad wood was replaced and to make sure roof was satisfactory before final payment was made to subcontractor. They stated roof looked great and they were thoroughly satisfied. I looked at roof myself after DAR had already made payment to subcontractor, and informed them that the roof was unacceptable in multiple areas and was very disappointed. DAR Construction LLC stated the roofing contractor came back out to house to fix roof, but after I went back to review work completed the roof was still in the exact same condition as was originally after they replaced. After continually requesting needed action to take place, was told I could meet with subcontractor. Asked what time I could meet with them and was never received any response. At this time, I have no faith in DAR Construction or VIP Roofing and Remodeling LLC to replace roof in satisfactory condition. I am requesting a full refund of $7,200 given to DAR Construction for roof replacement. My request for refund of roof payment from DAR Construction is a reflection of their poor performance and management of roofing subcontractor (VIP Roofing and Remodeling LLC) under their supervision. Failure to correct issues of poor work performed: o Uneven roof structure o Dipping in multiple areas o Overall unsatisfactory quality of craftsmanship o Lack of Communication o Failure to follow through and execute requested re-work I am completely dissatisfied with the result of the poor performance and management of DAR Construction LLC and that of their business associates have exhibited.
