    Parked on Sawtelle.

I know some rave about this place, I'm... indifferent. To be fair, the star is definitely the JFC Bowl. It's chunks of fried chicken, too big to be bite-sized, but it goes well with the quantity of rice-- which is enough to be a pretty decent meal. And the fried chicken is nicely juicy and flavorful. The other items I haven't been impressed with, or they weren't as expected. Gyoza on the menu photo looked pan fried, but what I got was deep fried-- and while I looove deep fried, I had really been looking forward to pan fried. So that was... eh. Fluffy dog was kind of fun, the hot dog itself was surprisingly tasty, but the fluffy of the folded bun just resulted in a sloppy mess to eat. It even felt and tasted fluffy but sure didn't look fluffy. Hard to say this was worth the mess. And the roast beef bowl, if you're hoping this will fill the place of the recently-dearly-departed-Red-Rock-Sawtelle... well, it definitely doesn't. It's quite meh, entirely forgettable, and can't hide the fact that the rice they use is definitely not top-shelf.

The lines can get pretty long at this food truck located in Sawtelle but I stopped by on a Saturday early afternoon and there was no wait! The cashier lady was so sweet and helped me out with what was popular. I ordered the rice Benito, and karaage with rice. YUM! All super delicious! They even have this fun little spin the wheel when you pick up your food to win small prizes :)

So it's on the heavier side, but I consumed almost all of it My son also remarked the bowl looks deceptively small, yet after enjoying the soup, we left satisfied and full. Then there's the chicken, dark meat grilled to near perfection with a smoky flavor that sneaks up on you. It works perfectly with the aforementioned broth. The noodles are also good quality. Again, at first the regular sized bowl looks small, but don't be fooled. It's a satisfying size. My son also ordered the fried chicken with tartar sauce. It's not a traditional karaage, but still quite tasty Actually, the ramen itself isn't traditional. There's isn't any shoyu flavor which was a bit surprising, but the unique flavor reset my expectations. Prices are typical for a Sawtelle Blvd. establishment. It's not the bargain I'd find in Gardena, but we had no complaints among the family. Looking forward to a return visit. Gochisousama deshita!

Not so much great for big groups, but probably separate tables would be better. Restaurant itself is also small, definitely resembles a lot of like the restaurants in Japan! Especially their decor. We all got the bbq charcaol chicken ramen, regular and large size are the same price, so might as well get a large?? It all came out pretty quickly. The chicken was really soft and you can definitely taste the charcoal grill to it. Pretty nice! The ramen noodle was a nice texture as well. Although, the broth was nice at first, it was a really oily and too rich. When you think of chicken ramen, you would think that it would be a light broth, but this was extremely heavy for some reason. The broth really overpowers everything that it does get too much to eat towards the end of the meal. I didn't finish my bowl actually haha. It was good, but it really feels to heavy to eat. The ramen is also on the pricier end, which it came out to be about $27 per person with tax.

salmon + ikura bowl…read more I came to Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle on a hot weekend afternoon, and my friend and I sat outside since there was no free seating indoors. The waiters were sweet in moving the umbrellas around so we would get more shade. The prices for their dishes are very reasonable, and I tried their Salmon & Ikura bowl. I loved the proportion of salmon and ikura and other various toppings compared to the rice, and the seasoning was perfect. My friend tried one of their staple ramen dishes, and he commented on the clarity of the broth along with a good portion size. There's a few different versions of this restaurant on this street, and I'm sure it's to serve the many people coming to this restaurant for a good meal!

The broth used to be so good that I would actually order extra noodles just to finish every last bit of it. This time, though, the broth was so greasy that there was a noticeable layer of oil floating on top, and I didn't even want to finish the rest. I really hope the overly greasy broth was just a one-off, because I'd hate to see one of our favorite tsukemen spots change for the worse.

Tons of…read moredifferent okonomiyaki options, as well as omurice, takoyaki, and other classic Japanese options. The spicy GOAM with crispy noodles as the base was great, definitely not as much of a spicy flavor as I thought, as it seemed the main source was pickled jalapeños tucked into the layers. I personally am not a fan of a concentrated spicy jalapeño bite so I ended up not getting much spice. However the rest of the pancake was very good! The loaded Kaisen was indeed piled high with seafood, but I thought the flavor was a bit light in the pancake itself. The seafood did seem fresh and tender though! The hamburg omurice was absolutely delicious. Something about their demiglace sauce here was special, I'm usually not a fan but this time I ate every drop! The steak was also tender and juicy, a perfect combination with the dish as a whole. At a late lunch time (2PMish) it wasn't too busy, and service was pretty quick! The interior is casual and you can even see the chefs working. I'd definitely come back to Chinchikurin, I can't wait to try more!

This is one of the two places recommended. Street parking on Saturday night was much easier than I thought for 7:30PM reservation. We had no problem finding street parking at all. Food wise, first thing I want to highlight is their kid's mini set. It's a brilliant set - includes skewers, a mini bowl of delicious ramen, a small scope of rice with minced chicken and eggs, and fruit slices. My kid truly loved this mini set. Their skewers were excellent - my personal fave is their beef tongue. Their chicken thigh with onion is solid. I also appreciated the offerings of hearts and other internal organs on the menu too. Their ramen is definitely a surprise to me - they were surprisingly delicious (comparable to top specialty ramen places). This is the perfect spot to satisfy one's ramen and yakitori craving!! Service was great too - food came out hot and we were well taken care of. I can see why this business is so successful in LA. I am now going to add this to my must-do routine whenever we visit LA in the future!

I tried the shoyu ramen for the first time and it was super unique in my opinion. It doesn't taste like the typical shoyu ramen, but rather like indonesian noodle soup. Maybe because it had a lot of fried shallots and the soy sauce taste wasn't super strong like other shoyu ramen. We also got the usual tonkotsu ramen and it was good as expected. I do think the noodles here are a bit softer compared to the other locations though
