The music is great - the sermons are the perfect length and my kids love the sunday school groups they are in. The church is very active within the community, and especially with the schools. When we were looking for a church to call home we were looking for somewhere that was a bible teaching church that didn't come off as "fake" - after two visits to Creekside, we knew we'd found what we were looking for.

I was there on a day when many of the members were giving their personal testimonies on stage. Their stories brought me to tears and also joy and hope. I got a sense of genuineness there. This is a church where they favor old hymns and most dress for Sunday morning service. Personally, I am not a suits and piano hymns type of guy. But I did find what I was looking for. I wanted a church that boldly preached the gospel without compromise. One that wasn't afraid to take a stand on Biblical issues. One that was more concerned about pleasing our Lord than pleasing men. In these things Cornerstone, in my opinion, is very strong. Pastor Snow is an excellent Bible teacher and a good example to follow for Christian living. I would highly recommend Cornerstone Baptist Church to anyone!

Finally a church where music does not have worldly sound; that is so hard to find here in CA…read more Preaching is solid; the preacher is not screaming like some Baptist preachers do, but expositionally and correctly teach through books of the Bible that many neglect because of their hardness (for example right now we are going through the book of Hosea in the evening service). In the morning we are studying Philippians. People are very very nice, loving kind and modestly dress so as not to give offense to others. The service starts at 10:00 am and after that we have Sunday School (learning about evangelism). The evening service is at 6:00 and after that we spend time in prayer. On Wed. night we meet in each other houses for Bible study. I like this church because of the Word of God preached here and because it's not worldly and because the people are nice.

I have been a Catholic all my life and went to Jesuit Univ. When I went to get communion. Priest would not administer and nod and made faces to me. Very embarrassing for me. Could have at least guided me. When I go to mass I want to feel peace and be in communion with Christ feel well. Also did not know that I had to wear a Mantilla during mass. This is the first time I have been instructed in a mass to wear one. A lady brought one to me so I could use. Do not know who has used that before. At my age I know the Catholic Church rules. Also said Mass was at 8 am started after 9 am.

In February, the congregation installed a pastor, Rev Kathryn. Kathryn is a warm and friendly leader whose sermons are spiritual but also human and relevant. I feel fortunate to have found FCC Martinez. I highly recommend it to anyone who is seeking community, paths to supporting social justice, spiritual guidance, and/or friends. I have found that the motto of this UCC Church, to embrace anyone no matter who they are or where they are on life's journey, is reflected in the actions of congregants and pastor alike.

Lucky me, they had deserts laid out on a table as they were having a cake sell after church. I did buy several delicious items. The outside of the church is beautiful as is the sanctuary. The songs were the new kind, sang loudly with exuberance. I like that they have hymnal books on the back of the pews as if we might hold a hymnal book and sing an old hymn. No other churches have them in my experience. That's the first thing I liked. Pastor Ortiz gave a heart warming sermon about making good decisions. He has a good sense of humor and a strong desire to follow God. That's second. As my mother and I were new, most everyone looked at us and smiled. Many people stopped to introduce themselves to us. That's the third thing I liked about attending: we weren't invisible. We intend to make this our church and become members and become family.

This is truly a Christ centered church. I have attended this church since I was a young girl. Even…read morethough I have moved around as an adult, I have always considered this my home church family. I have received prayers, love, and support while I have been away, and I have always been welcomed home with a warm embrace. I was married here, and my children were dedicated here, although we lived far away at the time. We have recently moved back to Martinez, because of our church family. This is the church we want our children to grow up in, where they will be surrounded by people who strive to live God's Word. This church pulls around its members in need, in a way I have never experienced elsewhere.
