Everyone is very nice and goes out of their way to help card holders. The library itself is small and set in a mini wooded area with 1 or 2 picnic tables. I use the Elkhart library website to search for items of interest to me. When I find something I like, I place it on hold and get a text to my phone when that item is ready. I have had many CDs shipped over from larger libraries, so I don't have to leave my neighborhood. ( I am collecting music on a hard drive because the Bluetooth in my vehicle is temperamental and I enjoy road trips! )

The library is efficiently laid out, separated into clear areas for adults, teens, and children. There are also many alcoves with comfy seats to sample your choices. I spent thirty minutes in one reading the new Percy Jackson book before checking it out. If you ever have trouble finding a book to read, the friendly librarians are happy to help. One looked at my book list and added three new recommendations, such as Stephen King's new novel. The Outsider was a riveting story. Another saw me checking out Death Note, and suggested a variety of other graphic novels. In turn, this led me to becoming interested in graphic novels, comics, and storytelling through drawing. Every time I enter, I beeline straight toward the graphic novel shelf to find something new to read. Centre Township branch also houses events for the community. Children come every week for story time. Once a month, a euchre tournament is held. Every year, the library hosts a party in honor of Harry Potter's birthday. People from all over the city come to celebrate. And these are just a few of the multitude of events offered. The librarians even dress up as characters! Centre Township Library is a wonderful place to lose yourself in.

They sponsor many special events for the community, including lots of activities for kids, live outdoor concerts ("Summertime Tunes"), job fairs, and computer classes just to name a few. The best way to find out about upcoming events is to like them on Facebook. As for amenities, they have free Wi-Fi, as well as a number of computers that are available for public use. They also have a wonderful history room with all sorts of cool exhibits from bygone days (White Pigeon is the oldest incorporated village in the State of Michigan). The staff are very helpful and friendly. They have a good sized collection for a small town, but if you want something they don't have, they'll order it from another library and have it for you within a couple of days, at no charge of course. You can also browse their catalog online, which I think is pretty advanced for a rural public library. Finally, this is the only library that I know of where you are allowed to talk on your cell phone, as long as you are considerate and don't bother other patrons. How cool is that?

[emphasis mine] When I had alerted a reference desk employee about the noise being made, I was told to take a study room. I'm wondering why I'm being isolated instead of the noisemakers. This library has gone downhill since I was a kid. Yes, I'll keep coming here for the free wi-fi and a (hopefully) quiet evening, but these folks really need to step things up if they want to earn our tax dollars.
