As someone who does not like parting with my money, I often struggle to find things to do…read more Fortunately, Centre Township Library on the corner of Kern and Miami offers a vast selection of books as well as a variety of events. The library is efficiently laid out, separated into clear areas for adults, teens, and children. There are also many alcoves with comfy seats to sample your choices. I spent thirty minutes in one reading the new Percy Jackson book before checking it out. If you ever have trouble finding a book to read, the friendly librarians are happy to help. One looked at my book list and added three new recommendations, such as Stephen King's new novel. The Outsider was a riveting story. Another saw me checking out Death Note, and suggested a variety of other graphic novels. In turn, this led me to becoming interested in graphic novels, comics, and storytelling through drawing. Every time I enter, I beeline straight toward the graphic novel shelf to find something new to read. Centre Township branch also houses events for the community. Children come every week for story time. Once a month, a euchre tournament is held. Every year, the library hosts a party in honor of Harry Potter's birthday. People from all over the city come to celebrate. And these are just a few of the multitude of events offered. The librarians even dress up as characters! Centre Township Library is a wonderful place to lose yourself in.

I'm one of the parents who enjoys visiting the library on any campus. For me the most significant thing about the library is the name. Hesburgh was the driving force that led the way in making Notre Dame a coeducational institution. Thank you Father Hesburgh! Five Stars it is.

The building itself is impressive. Everything feels modern, bright, and welcoming, with plenty of natural light and comfortable places to sit. Unlike some older libraries that can feel cramped or outdated, this one manages to be spacious and contemporary while still maintaining the quiet, relaxed atmosphere you'd expect from a library. I stopped in to browse the books and spend some time reading, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much the library has to offer. The selection is excellent, with a good variety of books for different ages and interests. I especially appreciated the children's area, which is thoughtfully arranged and makes the library feel like a place where families are genuinely welcome. The staff were another highlight. I had a question about locating a particular book, and the librarian was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in helping. It's refreshing to encounter that kind of customer service, especially at a public facility. There are also plenty of comfortable areas for reading, studying, or getting work done. I noticed several people using the library for different purposes, but the overall environment remained calm and organized. Sorry about the other reviewer, from Indy, gave this place a 2, I have been here hundreds or times, never once had any hassle or had to deal with unruly people. The staff is always courteous and polite, and patient. I am lucky to live within 2 miles of here. That is one thing South bend does do right,its' libraries.
