What should have been a blessing after my family inherited real estate quickly became a stressful…read moreco-ownership dispute. Multiple heirs held undivided fractional interests in the property, and no one could agree on what to do. I feared the property would be forced into an auction sale for far less than its true value, leaving every heir shortchanged. After researching partition lawsuits and Florida's Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act, I contacted Hachey Law P.A., and it was one of the best decisions I could have made. From the very first consultation, their team clearly explained my rights under Florida's Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act and walked me through the statutory buyout process, court-ordered fair market value appraisal, and the protections designed to prevent heirs' property from being sold below market value. For the first time, I truly understood my rights as a co-tenant and beneficiary. Hachey Law P.A. handled every stage of the partition action with professionalism, precision, and strong advocacy. When the other co-owners elected to buy out my interest, the firm ensured the appraisal reflected the property's true fair market value and negotiated aggressively on my behalf. Because of their work, I received a fair full-value payout for my share -- far more than I likely would have received through a forced auction sale. If you are dealing with an inherited property dispute, partition action, or potential forced sale in Florida, I highly recommend Hachey Law P.A. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment to protecting heirs' rights made all the difference. Five stars without hesitation.

Some of them were good, some not so good, some took longer than others to finalize legal issues and drain our savings accounts, and many of them just took our money and didn't do anything. As with anything involving an attorney, do your homework first and shop around. Learn the details of your issues before hiring any attorney. Don't hesitate to challenge verbiage. There were a few things that required my guidance, but in the end I am VERY satisfied with the package they prepared and the outcome. Front office staff needs polish with reception and handling clients, after all, clients usually contact an attorney when they need help or understanding.

I met in Consultation with Mrs. Welsh March/April 2012 b/c my ex- filed a Petition re: our…read morechildren. She included her Associate Mrs. L. Lamb(presently on Maternity Leave as of the past 3 wks or so.) Initially both seemed capable, knowledgeable and competent. I retained them the same day as my Consultation. After paying them the very last of my Disability settlement ($3,500), months followed of "spotty at best" communication. I have an ample collection of bills and a paperwork trail and VERY LITTLE to show for it. Mrs. Welsh gave my Case to Mrs. Lamb. Initially I trusted them which, in hindsight, I regret. As stated, the communication, effectiveness and results from them were less than acceptable. AND, in addition to the initial Retainer fee, I was required to pay an additional $750 prior to Mediation. I was in "dire straights" financially and was consistently forthright with them about my circumstances. Because they were apprised of my initial Disability Settlement/Award, I do believe they WRONGLY presumed I had "ample funds available." In fact, they had NO business inquiring of that, as it was irrelevant to my Case. I asked about a Payment Plan for the Mediation Fee and was told "NO." There was NO flexibility on their part. I was told to remit payment PRIOR to Mediation or their Representation ceased and I was headed to Mediation ALONE! I was forced to "hock my vehicle Title" for a Loan to pay Mrs. Lamb. (I've been able to keep my vehicle and now have a $194/month repayment...and the results at Mediation were wrought with unfairness, inaccuracies and a mostly "absent" Mrs. Lamb during the 3 hours.) Mrs. Lamb failed to address some very serious concerns I had for my children...in fact, neither Mrs. Lamb nor Mrs. Welsh had notes from me regarding my concerns. (I was appalled by this.) Mrs. Welsh said "if my issues and concerns were so important to me, I should have mentioned them and been more assertive." Excuse me...I paid for HER knowledge, "nohow" and Service! Most offensive to me was that I placed at least 2 calls to Mrs. Lamb expressing my concerns...and they were "brushed under their carpet." My concerns related to the deplorable environmental conditions my children were subjected to endure; being left alone, for hours on end, sometimes overnight--with NO working smoke/fire detectors in their father's house; as well as their father having 'alcoholic drinking issues.' Once I'd paid my Meditation Fee, I NEVER had a Pre-Mediation preparation Consult w/Mrs. Lamb. I attended Mediation "cold." Upon arriving, several significant things were changed with little substantive explanation. And I'd like to state here that I'm on Disability that includes "Cognitive processing challenges." Further, as Mediation proceeded, it became clearly evident that both Mrs. Lamb and Mrs. Welsh had made WRONG presumptions about what I was seeking for outcome & results without seeking clarifications from me. Though, for the Grace of God, I am reunited with my children, whom I've had PRIMARY responsibility for since Birth--barring the 2 years directly related to my Disability, their father walked away with Child Support payments REDUCED to HALF...it should have been nearly DOUBLED as our children are of Adolescent age requiring far more financial support. Their father makes nearly 3X what I receive. Our Incomes were "combined" and he "walked away" with a REDUCTION. At the least, the children's Support should have been left at what it had been! And, these Attorneys completely ignored that I requested it be filed with the Court that I claim my Son on yearly Taxes. When I inquired, at Mediation no less, a brief comment was made and the issue "glossed over." The Mediator we were assigned was less than Professional or compassionate. This was a most disappointing experience and NOT in my children's 'Best Interest' by ANY means. Please, depending on your particular circumstances, approach CAUTIOUSLY if considering or referred to this Firm. A near final point, I was assigned as Mrs. Lamb's "last Case" prior to her Maternity Leave...Hmmm... In closing, Post-Case interaction with Mrs. Welsh had her becoming "defensive" and stating "if you feel I'm a bad Attorney, you are welcome to consult further with another Attorney." When I made further inquiry, so that I could understand better, Mrs. Welsh told me promptly "I will not argue or debate this further with you!" Wow! THAT response alone leaves ME questioning her Ethics and Professionalism...and, of course, she wouldn't work with me as she and Mrs .Lamb had been paid their fees... "Things that make you go...Hmmm..."

Howard Ellzey was my attorney, upon reviewing the contract there's a section on there that says "Retainer Fees" make sure you clearly understand what this is saying, they are taking a extra $950 from you upon paying the 6k retainer fee. He words it in a way to be deceitful. He sat on my retainer for 14 days, I had two days left to reply to the petition or i would of defaulted on my case. Had i not called and left a voice mail for him on day 18 then who knows what would of happened. He made it seem in the consult he would be right on it. He then is not up front in emails and you wind up sending 5-12 messages back and forth to see what he really needs from you. He will charge for those as well. He will also charge for emails he clearly states in the bottom " I am not charging you for the time it took to reply to this email". I did bring these discrepancies and many others up with him and he told me they made no sense to him. He will also chalk it up as "more than usual amount of emails" but again, he sends unnecessary emails. Then tried to send me a new invoice for $1,700+ more because I brought these things up to him. This is what you call intimidation at its finest. He can be very condescending as well. After paying 10k to not even make it to mediation my mind is blown. Taking full advantage of a single mother of two in a time of distress. He will also sit on any paper work then make you feel rushed to redo all of it & send it over organized, because i guess the amount i paid didn't cover him organizing the paper work. not even two months on retainer and i still haven't made it to mediation why? because Howard refused to set a date with the opposing party. I strongly urge others to think twice before hiring this individual. Legal representation should bring clarity and confidence, not confusion and distrust. If you're in a vulnerable situation, particularly involving family law or custody matters, this is not the kind of advocate you want on your side.
