Kelly cleaned and resized my wedding band and engagement ring and did an excellent job. Also, I called regarding selling vintage jewelry and although they don't sell on consignment Lori was super helpful and gave me very good ideas about whom to contact. read more

I had a broken clasp on a necklace with a diamond that was very importance to me. Gordon came off knowledgeable and experienced, and I immediately felt confident that my necklace was in good hands. He fixed the clasp and cleaned the necklace within minutes, and also cleaned my wedding band for no charge. If I had taken it anywhere else, I probably would have had to drop it off and pay a fee. What customer service and such a wonderful experience!! One of my favorite, local small businesses! I will be bringing ALL of my jewelry needs here in the future! read more

This is going to be my new go to for all jewelry repairs and watch battery replacement. Kelly and Lori are awesome! They make you feel like a part of the community. Love this little 'gem' of a spot in San Carlos! read more

I dropped by without an appointment looking for assistance for my watch repair. Kelly A. dropped what he was doing and promptly assisting me. Kelly is very cordial, supportive and competent and his wonderful assistance is deeply appreciated. THANK YOU, Kelly for a job well done!! read more

My necklace broke and in the next hour I was able to get it fixed up for a trip the very next day. Kelly is the best! Thank you so much!

Went in to fix my wife's wedding band and they did a phenomenal job. When I got it back it looked brand new. I highly recommend going in and seeing Sonny. read more

Nothing but great experiences here with jewelry repair and cleaning! It is not cheap - but the attention to detail and speed (sometimes while I wait) is worth it! read more

The service was smooth and easy. I dropped off my ring for resizing, and they honored the quote I got from their yelp response. I sized my ring up from a 5 to a 7.5, and they charged me about $120 for 18k. I got the ring back after a week, as promised. I'd definitely go back next time I need something resized. read more

I really appreciated Kelly's service and attention to detail--you can tell he truly cares about his craft. I had first gone to another jewelry store on Laurel Street, and they quoted me a job that would have taken two weeks longer (and also cost a bit more, which was NOT a deciding factor for me since my pieces had sentimental value and I just wanted them in good hands). Decided to go with Kelly as what stood out most was that Kelly immediately noticed the fine details on my grandmother's pieces, originally done by a master jeweler in the 1950s. That gave me a lot of confidence in his expertise. On top of that, he's super friendly. This will be the only jeweler I go to in San Carlos! read more

Found this place via Yelp. Have been looking for a small, reliable and trustworthy jeweler since our fam jeweler closed her biz years ago. Have so far brought multiple items for repair. Done beautifully. Very reasonable pricing. Great communication. Timely finish. Nice counter staff and Kelly, the jeweler, is both competent and a hoot. Have enjoyed our association. This place is super. No hesitation to recommend. read more

I refer people here very often and realized I hadn't given an updated review. They worked with my husband to custom design a ring for me for our wedding anniversary. I am beyond thrilled with the design and with how they handled getting it sized correctly for me. I trust them to take care of my jewelry and I'm thrilled to finally own one of their custom pieces. Thank you! read more

I absolutely love this place and these people! The jeweler is extremely meticulous and also very interested in helping you get exactly what you want. They redesigned my wedding ring and took a ton of time helping me figure out what I want. They are patient, extremely knowledgeable and very talented. I will never walk into another jeweler! Love them! read more

I had a piece of jewelry repaired. Excellent repair service, reasonably priced, and knowledgeable.

Did a GREAT job repairing an antique silver napkin ring that a guest had stepped on. Looks as good as new! Friendly & helpful staff, very nice store! read more

I highly recommend Gordon Aatlo Designs. I needed a tennis bracelet shortened and they did a beautiful job! My husband and I had a lovely chat with Christine (daughter of Gordon Aatlo) while we waited for our wedding rings to be polished (so kind and generous of them) - our rings looked like new - just fabulous (we had not had them polished since we purchased them 9 years ago). We are so happy to have found them and delighted that they are local and a family run business/shop. Many thanks Gordon Aatlo Designs! read more

The most beautiful jewelry best made. Very friendly staff. Don't take Kelly the wrong way. When he 1st approaches you. He seems so very serious. Dry, personality but once the hang shake is over. He's all just a squeezable, friendly, and sometimes will let out a joke or 2. The man knows his jewelery. read more

I brought my mother's diamond engagement ring and wedding band, which had been soldered together years ago, to be separated. The work was of extremely poor quality--when I took the engagement ring to Gleim to do a proper job and fix the mess the jeweler at Gordon Aatlo made, they said it looked like the work had been done by an apprentice. It was a very cheap repair and I definitely got what I paid for. read more

Great customer service! I've taken two gold bracelets to be repaired and resized here. My resized bracelet was done on the spot and it looks like it was even polished. Would definitely come back again! read more

I would highly recommend Gordon Aatlo Designs! I am hard on my jewelry and this amazing place repairs it all. Broken gold money clip, bent earring , broken solid gold bracelets. A fine jewelry establishment. If I could give them 6 stars, I would try to give them 7. Top notch outfit.

Stopped in to repair a watch and get 2 watch batteries replaced. Kelly is a true gem! He had all 3 done on the matter of minutes! Kelly was kind, courteous and proficient. I highly recommend Gordon Aalto Designs and hope that your experience will be as Delightful as mine was! read more

I was very happy with their customer service, work and how fast they were able to get the work done. I needed a necklace fixed and a ring resized. Both were very fine (thin) and delicate. A previous jeweler was hesitant to resize the ring due to how narrow the band was, but theses guys - while noting the difficulties - were able to do it without any visible marks. Same with the necklace. And were able to get the work done in less than a week. I was very happy with their work and would absolutely use them again. read more

I came here to tighten the prongs on two rings and it was reasonably priced. On pickup day, I was able to talk to Christine about their work and learned that they did AGTA spectrum award-winning jewelry! That is a top honor and I was glad to find a rare "gem" in San Carlos. Now I know that I can trust colored stones to them in the future. read more

These folks are so honest and accommodating. I had a terrible experience with Geoffrey's ( I never YELP reviewed them). I had a pair of drop diamond earrings that I never wore because that just isn't my style. Gordon Aalto Design, designed an eternity ring with my diamonds and made me a beautiful eternity pinky. They listened to what I wanted and produced it at a really fair price. read more

If I could rate them higher than 5 stars I would. They are amazing. I went in this morning to have some jewelry looked at and both Kelly and Laurie were so incredibly nice and helpful. They took their time, explained everything and even helped untangle 2 necklaces that I couldn't. I hope they know how wonderful they are and how much I appreciate the time they took with me. You can tell they are family owned and that pride comes through in their spotless showroom, kindness and friendliness. I highly recommend them. read more

My 11-year old son and I have been visiting Christine for a couple years. What a sweet wonderful lady. My son collects rocks and gems and we love admiring the beautiful and unique jewelry at GA and hearing Christine's loving stories about her dad Gordon Aatlo. Although we have never purchased anything until this past Christmas (bright deep pink tourmaline stud earrings for my 96 year old grandma), Christine has always been so kind to me and my son. Kindness, very unique beautiful jewelry, and reasonable prices. I love this place read more

I can't say enough about my experience at Gordon Aatlo Designs. When my (then) girlfriend and I were exploring our new town one afternoon, we were drawn into this jewelry studio due to the one-of-a-kind pieces of art in the window. Stunning contemporary rings, earrings, necklaces, etc. I mean TRULY one of a kind. Not the same pieces you see slightly different flavors of in many of the other stores. I came back on my own to discuss a custom engagement ring. Kelly was extremely helpful. He thoroughly explained all the stone, metal, and design options until I was satisfied. I asked a LOT of questions and he was very patient with me. He gave me an estimate and ordered some stones for me to choose from. A week later, after I selected the perfect stone, he finished the ring just in time for a vacation proposal. The ring was (and is) a total show stopper. She said yes! Three weeks later, we are still getting amazing compliments on the ring. Thank you Kelly! One word of advice I have for anyone trying to surprise their girlfriend with a proposal and ring (I'm sure Kelly will tell you the same thing): Triple check her ring size. Don't bring just any ring you find in her jewelry box and assume it will fit. Unfortunately the three rings I brought in for sizing were 1.5 sizes too big! Kelly rescued me, though. We dropped by upon returning from vacation and he measured her ring finger for a proper fit. Better yet, he had it sized, cleaned, and ready for fit by the NEXT DAY. I must stress what a significant feat this was. The top of the ring is set with pave diamonds so altering the shape so drastically (down 1.5 sizes) required resetting some of the diamonds. I can't believe how quickly and expertly he managed this. His fees were very reasonable and combined with his expertise, patience, and overall demeanor will keep me coming back to Gordon Aatlo Designs for all my future custom jewelry needs. read more

I was referred to Gordon by a friend, which was a blessing. I'm not sure I even know where to begin. Gordon is a Master of the Beautiful. I gave him a ring, broken gold jewelry, and some photos, what he gave me in return was simply nothing short of a master piece, one of a kind stunning engagement ring. He gave me exactly what I wanted, and what I didn't even know I wanted. He has an eye like none other. It's as if he can read you. He has a quiet calm presence with the talent of a giant. After, we left our first meeting with Gordon; I knew I was in for something amazing. I asked for a ring that was timeless, something you could see on both the delicate Audrey Hepburn and sassy Katharine Hepburn, and that is exactly what I got and more. Gordon's work doesn't stop with the vintage. His contemporary work is jaw dropping. I've never before seen that level of workmanship or quality of stones such as his. His jewelry....art pieces if you will, flow like water. Utterly amazing. Gordon is himself a Gem. A Master of the Beautiful. A Gift to his trade. If you have the desire for a one of a kind piece, Gordon is who you've been looking for. I will never go elsewhere. read more

Christine was so helpful and pleasant and gave me excellent service. I was in a jam and needed a last min cleaning and fixing of a charm bracelet for my something old for my wedding (totally forgot until two days before the wedding). My 16 year old grandson wanted a sterling silver ring and found one on line for $230. I said we'd go to Gordon Aatlo Designs first, where Christine was very helpful and found him the same ring style in one of her catalogs, for $75!!!! Wow, what a difference. Christine took much time measuring his finger and talking to him about brushed vs shinny finishes. He chose the shinny and Christine ordered it for him. Turns out it was not in stock and so had to be made especially for him and that delayed the arrival. It got close to when my grandson was leaving for camp and he wanted to be able to wear it there. Christine did her best, hoping that it would arrive the day before his departure. And that turned out to be a Monday when they were closed. But Christine arranged for craftsman Kelly to be there to get the mail and contact us to come get the ring.... if the mail arrived with it. Well it miraculously did and Kelly made sure the ring fit well and would not fall off C's finger and get lost at camp..... I've been so impressed with the time and effort this establishment puts into making their customers satisfied. I do not hesitate to recommend them for anything relating to jewelry. read more

I had a great experience at Gordon Aatlo Designs purchasing an engagement ring for my fiancee. Gordon worked with me on the design of the ring, which included a centerpiece diamond with ruby side-stones, and three smaller diamonds on each side of the ring of white gold. Gordon also helped me hand-select the jewels for the ring, and pointed out any imperfections in the stones so I knew what I was looking at. This helped me understand the differences in price between my possible selections, which really helped me make my ultimate decision. I will definitely be back for future purchases, because not only did I get a great product at a more than reasonable price, but he also has great designs on many other types of pieces that he makes right there on premises. I think it might take me a little while, though, unless I get a big raise soon - that's at least what I tell my fiancee! read more
