I can't tell you how many times I've gone to an agency and spent an hour filling out paperwork, taking assessments and still ended up waiting another 15-30 minutes to speak with someone who was half listening and ready to throw me into any assignment they had available at the time. Not many people like dealing with staffing agencies but in all honesty I've only landed a handful of "career" related jobs on my own without them. I was told I had a position to start, completed the required background check and drug screening, and was told I would receive information about where and who to report to. I never received the promised call or information. I had to reach out myself the following day, and even after being told someone would call me back, I was left waiting again. The position starts at 4pm and it was 12pm and I STILL haven't heard anything. Communication throughout this process has been poor, and I feel my time was not respected. If a candidate is expected to complete requirements and be prepared to start a job, the staffing company should provide clear and timely communication in return. To make matters worse, after leaving me without the information I was promised for my original assignment, they attempted to offer me a completely different position to start the very next day. I was expected to somehow obtain steel-toe boots on extremely short notice in order to be prepared. To me, it seems like they switch the job I was suppose to start with someone else. Additionally, you can't expect someone to start a position that requires steel toe with short notice. You do not know the financial situation. The whole process was unfair and unprofessional.
