In the past, I've had okay experiences with this place. Usually pretty neutral. They'll unload your donations from your car and give you a receipt. When the women are working there, they're usually much nicer. However, my past few experiences donating here have gotten much worse. We are moving out of the area and would rather donate goods than throw them away of course. The older man working there and whoever his helping hand is do help unload your car. However, we tried to be nice and say hello and thank you and they acted as if we didn't even exist. They were so rude. I was sent in to get my receipt by myself on the computer (which is fine, I've done it before), and then the older man was giving me a hard time about how my partner also wanted a receipt because some of the things were his as well. They acted like we were this huge inconvenience by coming by and donating our goods. We still have loads more to donate, but you can be sure it won't be going to this center.
Plus I finally found a Salvation Army donation center on Pechin Street in Manayunk, which I have been looking for for a while now due to different practices between Goodwill and the Salvation Army.
Goodwill is a for-profit business and the owner makes millions. A lot of the clothes they don't sell goes to landfills. The Salvation Army is non-profit, and all money that goes into the store funnels back into the church and organization to help more people. The clothes that the SA can't sell is sent overseas to other countries where people need them.
So skip these miserable misers and go to Salvation Army where hopefully you'll be treated better and know your stuff is going into better hands. read more
