There are several locations, and this one is located in the Hamburg area near Tractor Supply as a landmark. The drop off is on the right hand side of the building and can pull up and employees will collect the donated goods. They have signage directing where to enter the single drop off lane. There are also posted signs listing what can and cannot be donated. Staff are polite and helpful. I have not been inside the building or made a purchase to this point, so I cannot comment on that aspect of this business. I do know that the mission statement has been to sell donated items and then to utilize those funds to assist victims of abuse, which has our support 100%. (Side note: I also choose to donate here rather than at another specific well known charitable drop-off site which has high prices and high administrative costs, resulting in less funds going to the people it claims to serve.)

For those unfamiliar with their mission, The Mustard Seed is a relatively new (founded in 2016) organization that is primarily dedicated to aiding survivors of childhood abuse. They maintain a wider variety of inventory than most other thrift stores in the area, are exceptionally fair with their pricing and have a delightful sense of atmosphere to boot. In short, it's the kind of organization that deepens your appreciation of Indiana as a whole. The Floyds Knobs store is more spacious than Sellersburg's and has recently undergone some further expansion/renovation. I get the sense that this location has the edge when it comes to clothing, housewares and artwork, while the Sellersburg store is perhaps a bit more robust when it comes to media and toys. At any rate, so long as you follow their posted advice and do not (under any circumstances!!) attempt to donate any fire-breathing dragons, a visit to either Mustard Seed is bound to boost your mood. This was not an isolated incident--after being treated rudely on a recent prior visit, this latest experience confirms a clear pattern of poor customer service. I was genuinely shocked to be treated with such a total lack of basic respect during a visit a full hour before the store was scheduled to close. The employees were extremely rude, barking orders in a harsh tone regarding the coffee bar, fitting room, and bathroom. When I tried to step outside for just a second, an employee snapped that if I left, I would not be allowed back in--with a full hour remaining before closing. Staff hovered over me constantly, creating an aggressive atmosphere that made it clear paying customers were viewed as an unwanted inconvenience. To treat customers with this level of open hostility is entirely uncalled for and unacceptable. Management needs to address the severe, systemic lack of professionalism at the Floyd's Knobs location. I left stunned by the experience, and I will definitely not be back."

I want to first start by saying that this particular review rating is for TODAY's experience with…read morethe wife of the owner. She has completely ruined the trend of positive experiences that we've had at this shop. My husband and I shop here often. Ever since we discovered and visited this place the first time, we've often found real treasures. And today was no different from that perspective. We found a treasure. Long story short and without putting all of our business out there, her husband made a verbal agreement with us that we could pay on an item over time but still take it home today. We didn't ask for it. He offered. We accepted. We didn't have our truck with us so we had to come back and pick the item up. We also purchased 3 bar stools (paid in full) that we needed to come back for as well. We returned at 5pm today as we said we would. Paul wasn't there. His wife was. Once we announced what we were there to pick up, she said "about that. We don't make payment plans. This is a business. If you want your item you're going to have to pay for it in full today". So first of all, I know it's a damn business. Duh. And your husband made a business transaction and verbal agreement 5 hours ago. Even took a down payment. But you know, you're messing with my energy so let me go ahead and pay you this damn money! I don't need you calling no police on my husband who is a black man. And yes, I state that on purpose. Next I said we also needed to pick up the stools that we already paid for. She said she didn't know anything about picking up no stools. So that's what we're doing? So that's the game we're playing. So you know about a verbal agreement that your husband made with a black man that you're now reneging on but you don't remember that I PAID IN FULL for the barstools that I came to pick up?! Okay. Well here's my receipt. Furthermore, my husband gives her his credit card to pay the balance on the item since she reneged on an agreement that her husband made. My husband's name is on the credit card. Duh. And so she asks "Are you Chip"? No I'm Peter Pan! WTF?! So my husband said "here, you need to see my ID?" She says "oh no, I needed to look up your name for the item." You're lying. Because If that was REALLY the case, you would have looked up the same name on the damn credit card. Can't even fake the discrimination. During the conversation over the renege of their promise to let us pay over time, she said "I don't know you. I've never seen you in here before". Now this is the point I had to keep myself in check because I was about to snap out. She was the one who helped her husband 5 hours ago to wrap an item for us. When we came back to the front of the store, she had ran off. My husband asked her husband, "where'd your wife go". "She went in the back". Probably because she didn't want to help a black man. Point is this. You're lying. You don't REMEMBER seeing us in the store. You just saw us 5 hours ago. So get your facts straight. It's not that you've never seen us before. MAYBE you don't REMEMBER seeing us before (and that's assuming positive intent). We were there 5 hours ago. And you ran. And then she KEPT talking saying "we tried a payment plan once before..." blah blah blah blah. That ain't got shit to do with us. Not shit. Your husband made the agreement. Yes, we know it wasn't you. Clearly. Stop talking. I gave you your damn money. Now give me my shit. $400+ later, we are happy with our purchase but the experience with that woman was TERRIBLE. In the future, if she's the one working, we will turn around.
