    Goodwill Donation drive through
    Sherri H.

I know Goodwill has a bad reputation for paying employees crappy wages and the top management from CEO down are making the big bucks. I typically don't bring donations to support that business model, but it seems like it's the only place to donate on the island. I had a van full of kitchen housewares, etc. and the drive thru attendant was friendly and helpful. I was asked if I wanted a receipt which I took. I decided to park and shop around inside a little to see what they had to sell. All the clothing in the store was neatly hanging by color, but it was a little hard to understand how they were arranged by size. Maybe other customers didn't put things back after looking at things? Anyway I tried on a few clothing items and found a cute Chico's top that fit. The changing room was spacious and had a great mirror so that's why I decided to buy. I know some other resale shops still haven't opened the dressing rooms back up post-Covid so I won't buy from those. I want to make sure something fits before buying it. I didn't see a price tag so I asked and was told that they will tell me the price at the check-outs based on the color of plastic tag thing. The Chico's top was $5.99 plus tax and that's a great price so I bought it! However, they should give you a tiny little discount if you've made a donation, in my opinion.

March 1, 2022 Been bringing clothes, shoes, accessories here since 2013. They have a pretty good selection of used items to buy for a small island

Clean store, good selection, friendly staff, good prices. Recommend! My daughter got her clothes soaking wet on the beach and we were able to find her several outfits to choose from so she could be dry and comfortable for our Duck boat tour. She loves this pink shirt that says, "Loves to Twirl". It's perfect for her.

The people here went above and beyond to make sure that the couch we purchased was secured tightly and in good condition.

My wedding was planned for January 2027, and we toured the venue in November 2025. We loved the space and were excited about the possibility of hosting our wedding here. After the tour, I attempted multiple times to get in touch to officially book our date. I sent emails and made phone calls, but received no response for a couple of weeks, turns out a family emergency had happened so I told him to take his time and be with his family. We finally heard back on December 2. A contract was then sent on December 5, but it contained incorrect names and incorrect information, which understandably needed to be corrected before moving forward. On December 22, I received a follow-up email stating: "Hi Kim, I didn't receive an email that had your requested changes to the contract. Just send it and we will do our best to make requested changes and accommodate your concerns. Thanks." At this point, communication again went silent, which I initially attributed to the holidays. Wanting to move things forward, I reached out again on January 3. What happened during that phone call was shocking and completely uncalled for. Jonathon Starkey was incredibly rude, raised his voice at me, and hung up on me twice. This behavior was completely different from our earlier interactions, which had all been pleasant and professional. During the call, he accused me of being argumentative and rude -- accusations that were entirely unfounded. I remained calm and simply tried to clarify the situation and move forward. Without warning, he then stated that our wedding date had been cancelled. This came as a complete shock. At no point prior to this had there been any hostility, conflict, or indication that our date was in jeopardy. In fact, we had expressed multiple times how excited we were to work with Peanut Butter Warehouse and looked forward to hosting our wedding there. To make matters worse, I later spoke with the owner -- his father, Jerry Starkey -- and unfortunately the unprofessionalism continued. He repeatedly interrupted me, showed no interest in hearing my concerns, and made it clear that he did not care that his son had treated a potential customer in this manner. There was no apology, no accountability, and no attempt to resolve the situation. This confirmed that the issue is not just with one individual, but with how this business is run as a whole. The way this situation was handled was deeply unprofessional and extremely stressful. Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events, and venues should understand the importance of clear communication, respect, and professionalism -- especially when couples are planning years in advance. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Peanut Butter Warehouse to anyone planning an important event. Poor communication, incorrect contracts, and aggressive behavior are not things any couple should have to deal with while planning their wedding.

You can find over priced local honey here as well. At one point, the upstairs used to be opened, but that's not the case anymore. This is just another one of those businesses near the strand where you look around and usually leave with nothing.

Washing machines, pillows, picture frames, children toys, shaving clippers still in the box. The clippers looked as if they were donated wholesale, it is a whole plastic bin of it. The clothes are not so hot! Mostly older clothes for elderly people and it is pretty packed together. Laminator machine, for $15, vintage projector $5, playstation controller&cable $3. The books are 4 for $1. A mannequin might greet you when you walk-in or the owners terrier. I didn't much of a greeting or talk from the owners themselves. The parking is on the side of the building. It is parallel, not very wise if you want to turn around and leave the way you came in. I saw a couple of people trying to do that. Lol! If you have trouble you can always drive behind the building to leave. Fishing gear does go fast here! A very affordable resale shop in Galveston always taking donations for good cause!

Owners, Cayenne and Concho, (AKA Kelli Holmes and Don Hendrickson), have created an eclectic mix of Art, Apparel, Accents, and Accessories, all made by Texas Artisans and presented in a cool vibe slightly reminiscent of a retailer in in the Village of NYC during the 60's and 70's. Cayenne and Concho have sold my art for the past 5 years here and at a former location in ETX. This place is very unusual and lots of fun to explore, especially if you are looking for an eclectic experience outside of the similarities most retailers offer in most stores today. Cayenne, a creative powerhouse, makes a lot of the offerings herself, including a line of clothing called Filly Pepper. The clothing line is recycled form vintage and current pieces on which she paints, tie dyes and sews into one of a kind wearable art. She also creates decorated hats and jewelry as well as very unique 3 dimensional assemblage pieces filled with humor and complete originality. If you are in Galveston, don't miss this rare establishment. I guarantee it will be an EXPERIENCE.
