We decided to pay this place a visit after being away for a year. The interior has been renovated since our last visit and seems to have even more clothes than before. They still feature all their hard goods, kitchen wares and glassware on shelving above the clothing. Even the bathrooms look new and you don't need a key to get in. The checkout area has a more organized cleaner look and situated next to it are their "Goodwill treasures" behind the counter. Prices are ridiculously high for a thrift store. All housewares/trinkets are displayed on shelves on top of garment rack making it literally a pain in the neck to see things. I am short. I can not see products. Awful. People were nice. Store clean but if you have to crane your neck to see what is on top of shelves it is no fun. read more

I know Goodwill has a bad reputation for paying employees crappy wages and the top management from CEO down are making the big bucks. I typically don't bring donations to support that business model, but it seems like it's the only place to donate on the island. I had a van full of kitchen housewares, etc. and the drive thru attendant was friendly and helpful. I was asked if I wanted a receipt which I took. I decided to park and shop around inside a little to see what they had to sell. All the clothing in the store was neatly hanging by color, but it was a little hard to understand how they were arranged by size. Maybe other customers didn't put things back after looking at things? Anyway I tried on a few clothing items and found a cute Chico's top that fit. The changing room was spacious and had a great mirror so that's why I decided to buy. I know some other resale shops still haven't opened the dressing rooms back up post-Covid so I won't buy from those. I want to make sure something fits before buying it. I didn't see a price tag so I asked and was told that they will tell me the price at the check-outs based on the color of plastic tag thing. The Chico's top was $5.99 plus tax and that's a great price so I bought it! However, they should give you a tiny little discount if you've made a donation, in my opinion. read more

This goodwill had a decent selection when I went to shop for some Christmas gifts. Most notably, the selection of books was very diverse, which was great because my father loves to read about history. There was also a great selection of cook books, and my sister is starting to get into cooking. There were books for both beginner and expert cooks as well as baking books. And they were all in great condition! The clothes had some unique designs, but it was a bit of an effort to try to find the good ones. I was mostly looking for gag shirts for my friends, and I found 1 or 2 decent ones. None of the shirts were THAT funny though. However, I did find a nice pair of running shorts for my brother and some athletic shorts for a friend too. The shorts/swimsuit selection did have a lot of potential. When it came to miscellaneous items, I didn't find much of anything that seemed interesting. Most of it was anything from knickknacks to outdated speaker systems to furniture. Nothing too useful for christmas presents. Overall, I'd give this Goodwill 8/13.7 Freys. As far as Goodwills go, it wasn't the worst by any means, but I have found better things at other Goodwills. This is honestly one of the nicer Goodwills I have been to in the Houston area. The store was very clean and very well staffed. They had Michael Kors, Burberry, and many designer outfits in their boutique section that I never really see at other locations in the area. Like another reviewer said, while they sort the clothes by color, they aren't sorted by size so your spending your time looking through each item checking for the size. I was disappointed in the Maternity section. There was only 2 articles of clothing and the rest was plus sized. I'm pregnant and wanted to save money on maternity clothes. I will try my luck another time. Great way to spend a cold rainy day on the island. read more

My daughter got her clothes soaking wet on the beach and we were able to find her several outfits to choose from so she could be dry and comfortable for our Duck boat tour. We were bike riding in Galveston and decided to stop here to browse. The selection is decent. We only had about 25 minutes before the store closed so we hurried through the racks. I wish there were more specials for workout gear and tops. I scored two really cute dresses and one top before closing time. I also thought the lady at the register was so sweet. She lives in Houston but said she enjoys her job. It was a pleasant experience. read more

Overpriced!! I just can't pay Ross prices for used Ross item's. I went on a Friday and couldn't find much of the green color of the week for 50% off on the racks. As I was in the dresses area I saw a sales person had been taking a rack full of green tags to the back of the store. Well no wonder!! Shady and Suspicious!! There are better thrift stores in town with better prices. Next time I am in the island I will not go back. Oh plus there were no pricing. Galveston goodwill is over priced. Also they ask to round up for veterans donations yet they do not offer a veterans discount day in this store. The least they could do is bring back a senior or Veterans Day discount. read more

Crap Goodwill! Has a dog carrying crate for $64. How in the ballzy is that? It is used and my dog house is larger than it. It has the normal clothes, books, and frames. You know lots of other shenanigans. If your looking for a fishing pole they have one behind the counter a cane fishing pole and a kiddie pole above the men clothing section. There are 2 water hose with the reels. No one will greet you when you walk in, 2 employees rather block the walkway and talk than stock the shelves. Simple as that. On Sunday, February 12 we experienced horrible customer service by a cashier employee who was a black lady and appeared to have moles surrounding her face. While standing in what we thought was the line, she started to allow other customers to go in front of us because we were in the "wrong line". This store doesn't have a clear "the line starts here" sign and allows customers who are new to the store to be confused. We were told we would not be checked out and had to go to the back of the line and stand behind people who got in line after us. read more

I stood in line for 15 minutes while cashier was talking to another employee and customer about who they know and where they are from and just cackling like old ladies across a fence. The cashier was rude and threatened to hit me because I lost balance due to a foot injury ( which was throbbing from standing so long) and the clothes hit counter hard. Honestly I felt no remorse for it. The cashier said I threw hangers at her in which if I did I promise you she would have been hit by one!. She was only 11/2 feet from me.. then she threatened to hit me. When other cashier or manager came to check me out because she was repeatedly threatening to ' go upside my head" she kept running her mouth with theeats.. so I told the person checking me out I didn't want anything from there. And I walked out.. this is galvestons customer service at its finest! I am a bartender on the island and I would NEVER treat a customer that way!! Reporting her is useless!.. but you never know who someone knows when you treat them bad... her bad! I hope they turn her down for welfare when she does lose her job!!! Rude ass!!
