First, such sweet people work/volunteer here! All of the ladies were welcoming and hospitable. They were even giving out bags of holiday candy. This is a decent sized store with tidy organization and clear departments. I only looked through bakeware as that's what I needed but they had a lot of clothes downstairs and a separate formal wear department upstairs. In another room downstairs are housewares, decor, toys, sporting items, and all other misc stuff. I got help from the ladies on the floor and I did find a baking dish I could make work for my holiday chocolate rum cake. At checkout, they helpfully informed me of all the happenings surrounding the store and sweetly discussed the resident betta fish on the counter with my son. A very positive vibe, and kind welcoming people.

Visiting Jekyll, I was in need of extra baking dishes for Xmas dinner. Every year our rentals never have enough and it's not worth transporting fragile bakeware 800mi to cook one meal. My quest turned into a curiosity to just seek out each thrift store to review so I know where to go next time this happens at my rental house. The associates at Hello Goodbuy were not friendly, neither greeting us when we walked in, nor when I asked if they knew if they had any bundt pans. Everyone had a southern accent and was white. We felt seen as outsiders, as happens in certain places around here. Intended or not, they came off like that kind of place. There were a lot of clothes and other knick-knacks, and some furniture. It was organized but felt very cramped and things were outdated in a worn 5-10yo way, not a cool vintage way. I left after a look at a small section that had anything resembling bakeware. Not much for kitchen, and nothing I needed. I always appreciate the mission of a thrift store, but this one felt so fundamentally (unwelcoming) different from ones like Gather or Goodwill where I saw all kinds of people shopping, and I felt very uncomfortable.

Store is tidy and arranged nicely. Owner is very friendly and sociable, ready to answer any questions and tell all she knows about the provenance of any piece. Items were eclectic and vintage. I grew up with true 100+yo antiques passed down over generations and was taught a lot about old things. I'm versed in 20thC vintage items from my own curiosity and collections over the years. The merch I saw at Rummage is fun and vintage (mostly 1990s to now on my visit). However, you never know what may end up here as a consignment shop, so it's always evolving. John found a Richard Scarry children's book in French and quickly called his sister to see if she wanted it for our niece. Next find was a Boy scout handbook from dad's childhood! I found some sweet bells, but when I spotted the giant jug under a table I held my breath as I turned it over and saw the name Dover- Seagrove! The tag was labeled as such- 1987 Seagrove pottery- score! I snapped pictures and took the jug home too- already sent photos to my friends in Seagrove, I know the family studio it was made in!
