Ken doughty is doing business as ken's heating and cooling in Grangeville, ID. My wife and I paid…read morehim $ 10,000 as a deposit for our heating /cooling system on July 5, 2022 at which time he said he could get to the job in about 8 weeks. He did not show up nor would he answer our calls. He finally came out for one half day in mid October and worked six hours placing 4 out of the eight ducts. Then he disappeared never to be heard from. Because of impending winter we were forced to hire another contractor to complete the work. Mr doughty refuses to return any of our $ 10,000 as of January 24, 2023. DO NOT use this man.

Ken Doughty is now doing business as Ken's Heating and Cooling in Grangeville ID. DO NOT hire him…read moreas Ken Doughty is NOT reliable or honest in our experience. Contracted with him July 2021 to install a heat pump system for 16K giving him a 8K deposit to purchase equipment/materials and get started. He agreed to have "heat" available by end of October 2021. He cut holes in our floor but little work was done after that. All contact was by text only. Mid-October we were frantic due to lack of progress and his habit of "no-showing" us when he promised to work. Delivered equipment was still sitting around in boxes/wrapping. Nothing was installed/hookep up after almost four months! When he did respond to our texts, Ken was full of excuses stating his other jobs were "emergencies". He stated via texts our stuff would "in" by end of October 2021. That didn't happen as he again failed to show up to work on days promised. By mid-November we fired Ken and hired another company to complete the job. Ken picked up his tools, then dunned us for an additional $4600 final payment besides the 8K initial deposit. Internet research showed that 8K deposit more than covered cost of equipment/materials delivered and the 28 hours of labor listed on final invoice. The fiinal inovice showed that he "marked up" the equipment/materials costs by more than 100% even though still in boxes and not working. He claimed this was "his profit" on a job that he wasn't even wiling to work on! We ignored this final invoice believing he was not entitled to such an outrageous "profit". He applied for a state permit (required before work starts) almost 2 months after we fired him. He then used the permit/inspection process to "gouge" the $4600 amount from us, he would not "transfer" the required permit to the replacment company until he was paid this undeserved $4600 profit. Ken made no effort to rectify the situation just demanded more money! He also texted he would have completed the job in 32 hours which is preposterous. The new company took 6 weeks and 145 man hours to produce a working system. That's how little had been done by Ken before we fired him. We ended up paying him for 75% of the contracted price when only he only did about 25%. In our opinion Ken Doughety was NOT reliable or honest in his dealings with us.

Jeremy did a complete check of all aspects of our system and corrected multiple issues which dated back to the initial installation of the unit. When he was done he had improved efficiency from 60 to 90%! Our home is cooler humidity levels are correct and the short cycling has ended. We highly recommend Elite!

Jeremy had done good work for us many years before in Moscow, and I called him to help with a job…read morehere about a month ago. He seemed to be willing, came to look at our job, and for this appointment he showed up and said he was fine with doing out work. His communication was one sided, if I called him, he sometimes answered. and would tell me what to expect for fitting our job in. I understood he had to have enough jobs up our way to make it worth the trip. Last Tuesday at about noon, he told me he would be coming to Moscow, and that he'd be at our job between 10 and 10:30AM on Thursday morning, which was only a day and a half away. We took out our old oil furnace, we tore off the steps in the back so he would be able to easily work there, we removed some bushes that would be in the way, we notified our residents of the date of the work, and we brought over an extra extension cord and trouble light and ladder for the work needed in the attic area. We put down floor protection... but then he did not show up. I called at 10, at 11 at noon... no response. I borrowed a cell phone, and left a text message. No response. At about 1PM I called the "office" number and was told that he had never said a word to them about doing any work here, he was working down south and was out of range. I explained our situation to the woman who was there, and that we really needed to make sure what was happening with this, as we had to notify our residents, who would be without gas heating or hot water during this work. She said she'd have him call back in the evening. No call ever came. I called again on Monday, and the phone was not answered, neither Jeremy's phone nor the office phone. It is now 6 days since he failed to come after setting an appointment, and we've had neither a text or a call back. What kind of service is this? We are at a loss to know what is going on with this... this is something we've never experienced with a professional contractor or installer in all our 30 years of working with them in many different fields. Do we have to look for another gas installer who keeps their appointments, or at least calls back if there's a mix-up? Hope you have better service than we have had..... and we're still waiting to hear back. we will update if we ever do get a call back.
