Good Shepherd Preschool is a wonderful and loving environment for these kids. The staff truly care about your child's development. As a full-time single father of two toddlers Good Shepherd has truly been a blessing. My kids love learning, playing and literally ask when they are coming back when I pick them up at the end of the day. My oldest is also now fully potty trained in under two months of attending. The staff get to know and truly care about my kids. My daughter also has a severe allergy and they immediately took the necessary precautions to accommodate her. I've been looking for a preschool for over a year and this is the best choice by far. My kids are safe, loved, and most of all learning new things everyday!

I love working at Good shepherd Preschool. I could never find a better job than working there. I have been to many preschools (do to moving) but always came back because of the wonderful atmosphere and the lovely yards, classrooms, and teachers. Not to mention the wonderful director. I would give this school a ten star if I could!!!

We are very thankful to the Lord for finding a place like this. The teachers are all amazing and very sweet. There was a time when I had to drop my son to school. He was crying because he was still sleepy, but and I had no choice but to leave. It's the hardest thing to do or else I will be late for work. Miss Ana sent me a picture of him playing within minutes. Definitely made my day. As you can see from the pictures the work they have put in the school is just amazing.

Finding a new school at that time wasn't easy. When I first visited FVM, there were no spots available, but I was impressed by how well-organized everything was--from the classrooms to the curriculum. I even asked Ms. Sneha, the school director, if I could pay a higher tuition just to secure a place for my daughter because I wanted her to attend so badly. Fortunately, a family was about to leave, and we were able to enroll her. That turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. Since then, my daughter has thrived with teaching tailored to her abilities rather than her age (she has a late birthday, so in the public school system she would still be at the preschool level). Thanks to the support of her teachers, she has excelled academically. After a year at FVM, she took the GATE exam through the school district. Not only was she able to skip a grade, and she was also accepted into the GATE program. I truly believe this wouldn't have happened if she hadn't attended FVM. I'm incredibly grateful to FVM and all the staff. Ms. Sneha is such a kind and caring person. Without her, my daughter wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn here. Ms. Neranja, one of my daughter's primary teachers, holds strong teaching principles, and whenever I speak with her, I feel confident that my daughter is in good hands. My daughter often talks about her teachers at home, especially Ms. Neranja and Ms. Erika. Although my daughter has only been at FVM for a short time, the experience has had a profoundly positive impact and laid a strong foundation for her future educational goals. I cannot thank everyone enough--I am truly grateful.

We decided to keep our child here for an additional year instead of moving on to TK. While TK would have been a great transition, this extra year allowed our child to truly come out of their shell. There are some things worth investing in, and while I am a big supporter of public schools, FV Montessori gave my children a foundation that is absolutely priceless. Ms. Gloria is simply the best. She created a nurturing, safe environment for our child to grow, while also providing the structure and rules that are so important. This chapter has officially closed for us, but we will always be thankful to Ms. Gloria, Ms. Gurpreet, Ms. Vivian, Ms. Lindsay, Ms. Sneha, Ms. Jahaira, Ms. Remington, Ms. Madelyn, Ms. Bea, Ms. Alicia, Ms. Paula, Ms. Ana, Ms. Neranja, Ms. Enoka, and all the other incredible teachers and staff who make this school such a gem. Daycare, childcare, preschool--picking the right one can be daunting, but I highly recommend checking out Fountain Valley Montessori. You will not be disappointed.

Ms. Jodi and Ms. Christine are phenomenal--warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to each child. They create a space that feels safe, joyful, and structured for both play and learning. Disclaimer: Part of my wait in reviewing was in part of a fear in retaliation --in that our family…read morecan be smeared negatively in a reply by the director-- but ultimately, as a reader of this review, you can do with it what you will. This is just a summary of our experience. May yours be better if you choose to go with The Wave. Our son started at The Wave in June 2023 shortly after he turned 2. We previously had him enrolled in a daycare since he was 7 months as we are both working parents. This was our first experience with a preschool and we were enamored with its promise. The Red Room (2 year olds) was full of support: Miss Megan, Miss Debbie, Miss Sherrill. The after school and summer program was amazing: Miss Sharon --who helped us with napping and potty training advice --and Miss Kristi --who always loved on my son --were standouts. We were gracious when our son was bitten (teeth marks and bruise left on his hip) early on into enrollment, but it was because we are understanding that toddlers can be toddlers. We came to every event, supported the book orders, and were genuinely smitten and communicative with our teachers. Being a public school teacher myself, I try to be the parent I wish to have supporting me --one that works as a team in student-centered goals. In fall 2024, things started to go awry. The Yellow Room (3 year olds) had a teacher who left due to starting a family and the position was filled by someone who went to preschool and church at Beachpoint. She was co-partnered with another teacher whose demeanor is quite cold. The majority of the class were girls. As August turned into September, we started getting behavioral reports for our son. We met with the director, Mr. Gabe, and set goals. We were cooperative, but my husband did bring up the point that my son either never had problems prior to this school year's room assignment or were never notified. We believe the latter point struck a nerve with Mr. Gabe as the behavioral forms turned from one a week into one given every day or even multiple times a day. Things that ranged from throwing toys (which we held him accountable for --we are not delusional when it comes to parenting) to playing with the decor (they had used a salt and pepper shaker and turned them into some decorations) and running towards pumpkins. We were called for early pick ups (once we dropped him off at 10:20 after an appointment and were called back to pick him up at 10:57 am) which was a struggle for two working parents to arrange coverage and run to grab our son. We met again with Mr. Gabe and he gave us the opportunity to change rooms mid-October. Miss Bell was a blessing and for two weeks, our son was improving and Mr. Gabe said he "couldn't wait to partner with us." Then, at the end of October, he left us a voicemail to set up another meeting. Conveniently, the end of the month was when our tuition was already paid. He wanted to dismiss our son. Concurrently, Miss Vanessa at the front office had suggested we get our son assessed. I was unclear on what he needed an assessment for, but as a teacher and parent, I wanted to make sure I was cooperative and checked off the efforts. Fountain Valley School District was phenomenal (shout out to their school psych Mr. Justin) and was able to observe our son at The Wave. After much effort (we had to take work off to be on hand for the asssessments), our son did not qualify for autism nor speech delays. It was just further validation that our son was ...a 3 year old boy being a 3 year old boy. I waited almost a year to post this review because I wanted to be able to look back and fairly examine what we went through. I now have the hindsight to understand that I had "dream school" goggles on. I see more clearly now that the school really worked with families that had easy daughters or obedient sons. Mr. Gabe even said, per our dismissal, that his school follows the teachings of "Jesus who goes after every lost lamb" but that unfortunately his school didn't have resources that we needed. I bring this up because in the winter, we enrolled our son at another preschool, and he is THRIVING... and the school has no more resources than The Wave. What they do have are all experienced teachers of 15+years who have huge hearts and patience for littles. I was initially ashamed of being "kicked out" of The Wave, but when I shared everything that we went through, the new school's director just said... "Your son's been on this earth for what...3 years? He's a boy. He's a kid. He's learning!" We haven't had an issue and he'll attend TK there next year. To top it off, some of the Wave teachers still keep in touch with us and after his dismissal, a few dropped off gifts or attended his tball games (in the spring too). It's a conflict of interest as it's their work place, but I think they empathized for our experience and loved our son. It was a hard lesson to learn, but if you are a parent, don't be afraid of your intuition.

Our experience at Shoreline changed after our child transitioned classrooms…read more In the infant classroom (B108), communication was clear and responsive. Mrs. Niki and Mrs. Valerie adjusted to our infant's feeding needs, documented milk intake separately in Brightwheel, and responded to messages promptly. When concerns were raised, adjustments were made and logging was consistent. We felt supported in that classroom. After transitioning to Room B118, documentation and communication became inconsistent. Milk and solids were occasionally logged under the same Brightwheel category ("food"), making it unclear how much milk was consumed versus solids. On some days, entries stopped around 12:00 PM (for example, 12:08 PM). On other days, bottle refusals were not clearly documented. There were times when we messaged asking for clarification about intake and received no response, or responses were delayed. The issue was not that the classroom was busy -- it was that documentation and communication were inconsistent. For parents trying to understand what their child ate and drank during the day, that lack of clarity feels disorganized and unreliable. We were also informed that B118 was preparing students for the next classroom, Room B117. B117 operates as sippy-cup only, and bottles are not permitted. The classroom supply list indicates there is no refrigerator in that room. For families whose children still require bottles or milk storage, that structure is important to understand in advance. We provided written documentation from our child's pediatric specialist on two copies-- one copy to the office and one to classroom staff. Documentation improved briefly and then returned to being inconsistent. We requested a classroom change because the placement was not meeting our child's needs. We were thanked for "sharing our story," though we had not yet been asked to explain our concerns. No follow-up questions were posed and no meeting was offered. An administrator was copied on the email without explanation, and we were not told who that individual was or why they were being included. The response felt impersonal and procedural rather than collaborative. We were simply informed there was no other classroom available. Given the continued documentation and communication concerns, we made the decision to withdraw. At the administrator's request, we provided a written explanation outlining our concerns, which was forwarded to Mrs. Melly. In her email response, Mrs. Melly emphasized that bottles were "regularly offered," referenced video footage of our child appearing happy and engaged in class, and stated that staff cannot always respond in Brightwheel immediately because supervision is the priority. Whether a child is playing happily does not address inconsistent intake logging or unanswered messages. In that same email, we were told this was the first time Mrs. Melly was aware our child was under specialist care, despite written documentation having already been provided to both the office and classroom staff. On one documented day, two bottles were logged earlier in the afternoon. At 4:45 PM, Mrs. Melly personally logged that another bottle was offered. Based on the Brightwheel timestamps, the 4:45 PM bottle fell outside CDC safe-use guidelines for previously warmed milk (which recommend use within one hour after warming). This raised a safety concern for us. Our concern was not whether a bottle was physically presented. It was whether intake was documented clearly, whether refusals were recorded consistently, and whether basic feeding procedures were being handled carefully. We believe many staff members care about the children. However, the documentation inconsistencies and the leadership response did not provide confidence in the structure or oversight of the program. Families may wish to ask specific questions about: * How milk intake is logged separately from solids * How refusals are documented * How warmed milk timing is monitored * When bottle use transitions to sippy-only * Whether refrigeration is available in all age groups * How concerns are escalated to leadership For us, the way these concerns were handled ultimately led to our decision.
