Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...

It's your classic 'emergency purchase' location, but the range of cards isn't half bad, actually, and prices seem average for the area - about £2 for a nice birthday card. As you'd expect for somewhere with passing 'tube' trade, service is super quick and efficient (three of us were served in about 8 seconds flat). If you are looking for food and you've a little more time, there are several excellent sandwich shops in the same complex.

This is a large WHSmith store, a travel location serving London Victoria Station. They have a great…read moreselection of travel essentials such as a drinks fridge, including a small selection of alcohol, that covers almost the whole wall on the right side of the store. Prices are high here, ultimately you're paying for convenience, if you have more time, you can pick up 90% of the items here at a fraction of the cost, even just a couple of minutes down the road. This is the case at pretty much every WHSmith Travel location. There is a Nescafe Azera coffee machine here, obviously, you have the usual suspects inside the station, but this coffee machine is especially useful if you're in a hurry ahead of getting a train, and don't have time to wait at Starbucks/Costa etc. The checkout area seemed a little too compact for my liking, it became a little messy rather quickly, given the size of the store, it's almost unacceptable as they could easily improve the area. 4*

The ground floor has a huge (and unsurprisingly busy) magazine and newspaper section, as well as a smaller book section, selling fiction, travel and business books. It's usually packed with commuters browsing the magazines while waiting for their train. There's also a food cabinet selling a limited range of drinks and pre-packed sandwiches. Upstairs is the cards and stationery section, with a large choice of greeting cards.

Need a pint of milk for the office? Sorted. The chap in here is always so jolly and polite and is has a smile on his face permanently. Always saying good morning and asking after your day and wishing you the best. The size of the shop is like a postage stamp, but that's fine, you're not in here to get a fancy shopping bag or culture! So, totally love this "real" little newsagents in the alley where everywhere around you is high end pomp.
