But one day, this particular Tomas Morato branch of Gong Cha ran out of my usual drink. I asked for the next best thing and they lead me to their Gong Cha Wintermelon Milk Tea. Alas! I have been deceived all my life! So maybe not all my life, but life since I started drinking milk tea from Gong Cha. The wintermelon version tasted way better than my usual order! It was sweet, bitter and refreshingly good all together! I really have to start doing away with my usual orders and be more adventurous. I might be missing out on something as good as this. On a side note, I have always noticed how crammed all Gong Cha kiosks are. While I do understand how valuable and expensive tenant spaces are, I can't help but notice that the place looks a little dark and disorganized. Their Kiwi Dew Fruit Tea is pretty good, all things considered. Unfortunately, it suffers from the thing where you can barely taste the tea. Compared to other places I've been, BubbaTeaLicious (man, that's a mouthful) is probably the junk food of milk teas. It's satisfying in its own way but you can't help but wonder just how much of it really *is* tea. Either way, it's good when you need a quick drink but don't want to resort to soda.

It's a little sweet, a bit acidic and fruity in flavor. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Located above the Rustan's Supermarket on P. Guevarra, the café is quiet compared to the busy street below and gets tons of natural light from the building's all-glass facade. Great plus for me as it made the place have a very airy feel which went great with the painted concrete floors and industrial seating. The coffee was great too! I got their cold-brew coffee and it was a solid cup of cold-brew. Nothing out of the ordinary but it wasn't offensive. The price was great though! At least 30 pesos less than a comparable brew from one of the third wave stalwarts. They also have a lot of differently sourced beans to choose from, with even a Filipino Benguet option! So even though it might not have same pretentious or hipster vibes that we have come to expect from many of the other third wave purveyors here in Manila, I love how laidback this place is. You can definitely get a lot done here. Cash only!! There are ATMs downstairs though if you're in a pickle.
