Decent but not great course....always in good shape.....wish golfers would fix ball marks and fill divots. .....very disappointing practice range, built as an apparent afterthought on an uphill and you cant even judge distance or see your ball land. Some very good holes and some really poor ones. Several need redesign to be made more playable. They raised their prices last year. Definitely not worth $100. Wyncote nearby is much better, less expensive with an expansive riving range and a shot game area. Worth the ride. read more

I entered the pro shop absolutely giddy to start the day golfing at what is considered one of the best public courses in aPa. Much to my chagrin, rich, the pro shop employee (who also cleans the toilets) immediately yelled at me to Tone it down and told the course Marshall to follow me and watch me as I seemed like a nuisance. I caught Rich telling the Marshall This and he got incredibly embarrassed and I laughed in his face. A pathetic man who is compensating for his pathetic life with some fabricated sense of authority. After playing at this course for over 8 years and spending thousands of dollars in green fees, I am very disappointed and will no longer support the arrogant money hungry rude staff and management that work this "Public" Golf course. Not only is this golf course overpriced ($118) and not in great shape for the peak of the golf season but also forcing visitors to buy a bucket of balls just to chip and putt at a "Public" Golf Course. I would highly recommend going somewhere else such as Rock Manor or The Club at Shannondell, who are courteous and supportive of golfers trying to improve their golf game and do not force them to buy balls just to chip and putt. read more

Tees Fairways Greens are in perfect shape. Greens were smooth but due to the heat they were protected roiling 8.5 is my guess.. Course is a fun layout besides #11 I guess the architect's grandson designed that hole !!!!!!! Outside staff was Awesome I'll definitely return read more

we had 12 players in our group today. We payed 115.00 each which I thought, never playing here before, this place must be Awesome! What a disappointment! first off the greens were very nappy, ball not rolling at all, I mean you had to hit it to get it the hole. Its Friday, premium rate we had no cart girl all day. Also they had signs on the course to exit with your cart 150 yards from the tee! . Some cases we had to walk over mounds to look at our ball , then go back and get our clubs. Very disappointing when you drive over an hour to get here, to a course you expect to be a preimum course. read more

Overrated!! Not a great design, only "meh". Stupid Mickey Mouse layout with blind shots all over the place. Greens the day I played, 2 weeks ago, were about 7.5' on the stimp, you couldn't get the ball to the hole. Since I was here about 5 years ago the course is nowhere near as pristine in condition as it used to be. I guess the kids aren't working as hard as they used to. ;-) I will not be returning anytime soon. read more

Golf course is a great layout, but is in serious need of some TLC! Grass around bunkers way too high and not manicured. Also had a bad experience with the Marshall. Nobody told us it was cart path only. He came out and screamed at us. Not very professional. The clubhouse patio and little restaurant was dirty. Needs to work upkeep. read more

One of the better public golf courses in the area. The course is very challenging and in great shape. Played on a Sunday morning and finished in 3:40 as a twosome. Ten minutes between tee times before noon and 12 minutes after. Make sure you play the right tees for your game. White tees are too short for a mid handicapper. They lost a lot of trees around the driving range during a tornado last year and the range is now irons only. BYOB since no alcohol is served on the premises. read more

First off this course is more than just about golf for the young men at the Glen Mills School. The Glen Mills School was the nation's first reform school for boys. The course is a recent addition as a means to both raise revenue and teach job skills to the students in golf course management and maintenance. Some of the students have moved on to college programs in golf course management. The boys here learn not just job skills but life skills. At $105 for a Sunday tee time with cart and range balls, this was the most expensive round of golf I have ever played but this was also the hardest and best kept course that I have ever played. It was well worth it. The greens were fast and rolled true. They were extremely difficult which put a premium on an accurate approach shot. The fairways are tight and require accurate tee shots. All in all a great experience! read more

I love this course. I consider myself picky. Very picky in fact... and I love this course. Some Challenging holes. Some holes that are more of a "break." Beautiful views - especially in the fall. This is where I take people golfing when I want them to be impressed. As one reviewer put it - it's a little pricy - but you get what you pay for. The practice areas are great and are right there on site (something I'm surprised to find is a minority in this area). The people are friendly. The food is good and not over priced. read more

Everyone's reviews are spot on. This is a great track, a tough track but still lots of fun. Toughest part is it's just tight off the tee, especially from the back tees. I'm actually surprised it's not rated higher but the slope is rated at a 142. Each hole is unique and the greens have a lot of undulation so be careful where you leave your approach shots. Beautiful course with some of the best views. Worth every penny they charge. My only gripe is they keep saying, "Golf Course at Glen Mills, Since 1824." This is my favorite public golf course in the Philadelphia area. The course is challenging, dynamic and has some absolutely stunning holes. The course weaves through the hilly countryside and woods and has some great views. In the summer it can be hard to get tee times but thankfully unlike other public courses they are usually on time and space the groups out enough that you can usually finish within 5 hours even on a weekend. They have a range where you can hit some balls before hand and in the fall they have a great Sunday afternoon special when the Eagles are playing which is the best value. read more

The course must have been hit by some kind of flood. It is in terrible shape. Some of the fairways and greens must have been effected by this flood. The Covid protocols are ridiculous. Only outdoor bathrooms available. Range is in terrible shape. Point is it isn't the Glenn Mills i remember. Also, course claims 6000 yards from the whites and we had noticed it is 600 yards shorter than what's listed on the card. read more

The standard for daily fee courses in the Philadelphia area. A little pricier than most, but they make up it with 12 minute tee times, and a pace of play that most public courses should emulate. The course is well maintained and there is never any issue with empty water buckets which are well placed through the course. In terms of the course itself, the holes are a good collection with a variety of topography, and different pin positions that keep the course challenging every time (although the 8th hole is my personal nemesis). In my opinion, the true strength of this course is its par 3s. There are 5 (it is a par 71 course), and each of them presents its own different challenge. One word to those who prefer a little "swing lube" with their round: the course is affiliated with the Glen Mills School, so no booze is served. read more

So here's the deal with Glen Mills, the layout is terrific, the course is in terrific shape, the greens are challenging, and the staff is friendly. The downsides are that it is pricey and it's in the middle of nowhere. However, the single best part about Glen Mills and the reason why I would choose to play there over just about anywhere else is that it saves me time -- and time is my most precious resource. Glen Mills spaces tee times at 12 minutes, not the usual 8 at most courses, and the rangers are diligent about monitoring slow players. This means that it doesn't get nearly as backed up as most courses and your chances of getting trapped in a 5 hour round are much lower here than other courses. Well worth the investment. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. What an amazing golf course. Perfect conditions, excellent staff and just a fun course overall. The front 9 are fairly open. wide to semi-wide fairways with big greens. The back nine is much narrower and it takes some strategy to attack the hole. Every hole is different and just a complete blast to play. Lots of old trees that really make for a scenic and just peaceful atmosphere. The pace of play was perfect at 4hrs 15min. (for a Saturday morning your really can't ask for better). At $95 a round I don't think you can get much better. I play a lot of different golf courses in the tri-state area (Wyncote, Broad Run, White Clay Creek, Lederach, Honeybrook etc..) and Glen Mills just moved into first place in my book. If you love golf and can control where your balls goes make it a point to play Glen Mills you defiantly will not be disappointed. read more

This might be the best public golf course I've ever played. Unfortunately it's $95 a round, so it's tough to play often.

This course has been rated one of The Top 100 public courses in the U.S. and I must admit, I've played it many times, it is awesome. Interesting variety of holes, always in excellent condition, reasonably priced for this type of course, around $79 with cart. I don't know what they're thinking. Played it this past Tuesday. Their rough was one as in past U.S. Opens and I don't mean the one last week. Virtually around almost every trap there was rough so high, if you were lucky enough to find your ball it was virtually impossible to hit out. On many of the holes, just slightly off the second cut of the fairway was just the same. Myself and my fellow golfers that day, enjoy a challenge but seems silly to take much of the enjoyment of a great golf course away by having us trying to hit out of rough between 1 and 2 feet high. read more

Unfortunately, as we have been accustomed these past three years, Glen Mills has fallen hard and stayed down. While conditions in SE PA in 2017 have been ideal for growing grass, for some reason Glen Mills can't. The greens are terrible. Absolutely. Terrible to the point the $100 green fee is stealing. Course management was asleep on Fathers Day, there were several pins illegally cut only two steps from the greens edge? Someone was clearly mad at Fathers. Lots of work to do at Glen Mills before we pay $100 go back.... read more

This is a really good and challenging course, one in which you need to hit your shots straight. The myriads of bunkers, deep rough, scattered boulders, and well placed trees, narrow fairways, and several blind tee placements, will keep your head on your game. And the greens - lots of undulation and unpredictable speeds throughout the course. They also have a very friendly and helpful staff. The $79 green fee is reasonable for a public course of this scale and shape. The only negative I found is that you'll need a cart to conquer the hilly landscape, but it's not a cart friendly course as you won't be able to gain close access to lots of fairways and greens from the concrete cart paths, so you'll wind up doing a fair amount of walking and climbing anyway. Having all that said, tee it up and treat yourself to a great round. read more

This is a fabulous golf course. There are so many gorgeous views out here it's ridiculous! The course plays wonderfully with blind tee shots, gorgeous elevation changes, un-even lies and greens that require your attention from all around. This course lies up to the hype. By far the best public course in the area. The course is very hard but it is an absolute blast to play. The greens are fast and true and the course is very well maintained. We played after a big 2 day rain in November and the course was dry except for a few holes in the lower areas by the creeks but that is to be expected. The prices are steep but for what your getting it is worth it if you can afford it. I am a 90's golfer so I probably will never play in season for 100$ but this is a great off season course for 60$. The views are awesome and the pace of play was quick until we got behind one group of guys who obviously are not serious golfers. Etiquette would have told them to let my twosome play through their three some but hey you cant win every battle. read more
