We went to one of their presentations in November of 2016 and purchased a package to become members. We had initial contact from travel agent and she nicely said that she was assigned to help us with any travel needs. For almost a year now we are trying to get their help with travel, but only get nice recorded message that they will cal us if we leave name and phone number. We are waiting for a call back for a year now. So now, I just need to understand how to get my money back, if I even have a chance for that. Wgould not recommend this service to anybody. My husband and I went to a presentation tonight and had the same disappointing experience as the last 2 reviewers (Bill & Stephen). In the middle of the presentation, the presenter reprimanded one of the ladies for having her phone on her lap. It was super awkward and uncomfortable. I couldn't figure out why he would scold her, call her, and make a big deal in front of the rest of us at the risk of loosing her and the rest of our group as potential purchasers UNTIL my husband & I got home and googled the company. There were several inconsistencies or lies that we were told that were discovered within seconds of googling the company and the company giving away the promo scams. This outfit sends out postcards promising you two free airline tickets and a 2 night hotel stay in exchange for sitting through a sale presentation. Having never gone to one, my wife and I decided to go. We went in with very low expectations, and unfortunately, we were not disappointed. The sales guys were friendly enough, and while we were sitting around waiting for the presentation to start, I decided to Google Goldstar Getaways to find some information on them. To their credit, they have done an incredibly good job of keeping a very low profile on the web. While during the sales presentation they claim an A rating from the Better Business Bureau, I only found that they show "No Rating" on their BBB page, along with hundreds of page views from all over the US. I did find two extremely negative reviews on a different site, mostly pertaining to the sale presentation itself, as well as the hard sell tactics of the salespeople. On to the presentation itself. It took about 2 hours, rather than the promised 90 minutes. Basically, they are selling a "members only" travel agency with promises of unbelievable deals on vacations. The main selling point was access to luxury vacation homes and resort condos, along with big discounts on cruises, all-inclusive vacations, etc. They said that they could also save you money on rental cars, etc. Since I actually own a franchised hotel, I knew from the start that many of their claims simply weren't true. They claimed that they had access to all of these vacation places during peak travel times (think Christmas in Hawaii, Spring Break in Cancun, etc) at really cut rate prices. At my property, when we know we will be busy, there isn't any chance I am offering any kind of discount whatsoever. That's when we make the bulk of our revenue. So that was strike number one. They also greatly exaggerated the layers that stand between a provider like a resort and a travel customer. They say that there is a wholesaler, a distributor, the travel agent, and finally you. Again, this is just nonsense. So what was the bottom line? For a "Lifetime" membership, the charge was roughly $7500.00, which included a registration fee and an annual membership renewal of $249. They immediately offered $1000 off with a "coupon". Then, as they went from couple to couple, they started offering other discounted programs the more resistance they met. Stripping away certain "benefits", they went down to $4500, then $3500, and all the way down to $2500. Now if they could actually deliver on their promises, I'm sure this would be well worth it for an avid traveler. Moreover, since they offer a $200 referral bonus if you bring in a new member, I'd think there would be more internet chatter trying to convince people that this is an incredible deal. I'd think they would stand a much better chance of signing people up if they would allow you to actually book a weekend trip at their advertised prices on the spot, but since I doubt the validity of their claims as it is, that's just wishful thinking. As for the salespeople (all men), I didn't find them to be over-bearing, but a couple of the other participants did, and were getting fairly irritated at the end. They made maybe 3 runs to get us to buy something, but when I told them we just weren't going to do it, they let it go. Of the 6 couples that were there, 1 couple apparently signed up. Looking back, I wish I had asked for their contact information (discreetly) to follow up on their experience. Unfortunately, I get the sense that they will be disappointed. Finally, let's get to the "free" airline tickets and hotel stay. It costs you $50 to "register" the certificate, and then they charge you $199 per person for "taxes and fees." And, you can only fly out to certain cities on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. Sorry to say that this thing is a complete waste of time. It isn't my desire to put these guys out of business, but to just provide some context to a really tough business to investigate beforehand. Maybe I'm completely wrong about what they have to offer, but there are more than enough red flags for me to steer clear. read more

They only get one star because I'm forced to do one at all. The 90 minute promised presentation took two hours and was filled with promises, but only IF you purchase the membership on the spot. When I googled them, they didn't exist and when I pressed Shawn or Jesse they directed me to a website with only 5 reviews. They insist they have 250,000 members, but no one has ever heard of them and the word of mouth they say they hope for just doesn't occur because there is nothing good to say. The price dropped $4000 in the five minutes after we said we weren't interested which made us more skeptical. As we continued to question Shawn and Jesse they got angrier and angrier and Jesse actually walked away. They're very slick, but they only want your money. We attended the session on October 26, 2016. I totally agree with Stephen C. I don't waste your time. At the end of the sale, it was a hard sale in my opinion. The salesmen were not nice once they found we needed time to find out more via Internet and were not going to buy it at the end of the presentation. My Husband an I went to a Gold Star Getaways presentation. Needless to say their lies were so convincing and we purchased a lifetime membership at $1995 in August of last year (2016). Still trying to get our refund since December of last year. Stay away from them they do not keep their promises and once they get your money they no longer wish to speak to you. read more

Terrible and deceitful service: I foolishly actually signed up and paid. The "rebates" owed 30-45 days after travel have NEVER been sent. The travel arrangements are no better than Expedia. The management won't call me back after numerous complaints and attempts to contact them. TERRIBLE. read more
