Obviously all gyms are currently closed due to COVID-19. However, here's my pre-COVID review. I look forward to hopefully getting back into my gym routine here soon... I have been to all three Triad Golds Gym locations and I feel this one is the best. The gym is very well maintained, with lots of new exercise machines. At the other locations often elliptical, bikes, treadmills, etc were out of order. Also, this location feels more chill and is not filled with only the hardcore workout enthusiast. They have a great group exercise schedule. I have really enjoyed their Zumba and Body Combat classes and have other classes I'd like the try. I don't use the weights area much, but it looks like it has something for everyone who is into that. Golds gym also has a lot of extra perks compared to other gyms in the area. There is a pool for swimming laps, hot tub, steam room and sauna. They also offer free child care while you work out for those that need it. There's also a woman's only workout area, which I don't use but appreciate they want to make sure everyone is comfortable. Staff is very nice and helpful if needed. While there is always a flow of people, especially at peak times like after work day, it's never overly crowded. Sometimes you may have to wait for a particular machine (they need more than 4 step steppers) there's always something similar enough to use in the mean time. Most of us don't love going to the gym, but I have been very happy overall as a Golds gym member, and have pretty much made his location my to-go now.

It is 7:15 am on Sunday on once again the weekend staff cannot get their lazy asses out of bed to open the gym on time

Ask the Community - Gold's Gym

How much does a year membership cost?

Probably about $48 per month, but there are likely additional fees. Gold's is a joke. You'll be happier at Planet Fitness. No matter what gym you join, be sure to FULLY understand their billing and cancellation policies.

As for programs and equipment, The Club at Green Valley has Les Mills fitness classes (BodyPump, BodyAttack, BodyStep, CXWorx, and BodyVive), they have a great lap pool (it's not Olympic sized, but it's good for getting your laps in), a nice cardio room with plenty of treadmills, elliptical machines, etc., and a weight room. They also feature a unique program for young athletes called Parisi Speed School, which is a program designed to help athletes improve athletic performance, maximize their natural abilities, develop a higher level of self-confidence, and learn to prevent injury. If you live in the Greensboro area, check out The Club at Green Valley or their other club, The Club at Oak Branch. Both locations are great.! Also, if you're just in town visiting, you should check them out because they have guest rates for visitors!

The wide range of equipment is sure to meet your needs. Recently, the treadmills and some of the ellipticals were upgraded. Other new additions include a Jacob's Ladder, a new stair mill, and a Curve treadmill. Other amenities available are child care (for a reasonable cost), a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and complimentary towels. There are two weight rooms, two circuit sets, and two cardio areas. Additionally, there is a yoga and ab area for those who want to stretch out or do their own workouts. They also offer an array of programming, including a full offering of Les Mills classes, spin, water aerobics, and small group functional training. There is no comparable gym in Greensboro, especially since The Club has two locations. I have been a member for over 3 years and would never consider changing gyms. Check it out, and ask what specials they have when you visit!

They have a designated powerlifting room with 4 combo racks, 2 deadlift platforms, a monolift and a power cage. They have calibrated Rogue and Ghost plates and the bars to match so this place is the real deal! This place also features the entire line up of Arsenal equipment for body builders as well as posing rooms, they have additional deadlift platforms with bumpers and wagon wheels on the main floor. They have several lanes to do sprints, jumps and more. Tons of cardio equipment, dumbbells and 8 stacks. If I lived here I would totally train here and as a competitive athlete, I have nothing but good things to say about this place. If you're from out of town like I am, this is the place to check out!

Out of all the places I went to when I was gym shopping, this one stood out by far in terms of available equipment. The staff there is pretty nice too! They are pretty helpful whenever I need something, remember my name, and greet me when I come in/leave. Value wise I might be a little biased since I get a discount through work, but it's definitely worth it! There's a lot of gyms that in Greensboro that will charge you more for less.

I have swam in the Bryan pool when I could not the the lines on the bottom and when I would witness a cloud dead skin churned up from the bottom of the pool. Even after showering, I would spend much of the day with an itchy back after having swam in the Bryan pool. The other issue that troubles me is the attitude of the Aquatics Staff. They are seldom supportive and they often find minor issues to complain about when there are swimmers who clearly should receive more of their attention. On one occasion I observed an autistic/homeless man who found it very relaxing to submerge himself in the hot tube. The lifeguards were so troubled by his behavior that four staff members finally physically removed him from the pool and arranged to drop him from Y membership. This could have been handled with a lot more compassion and concern.
