An ancient hotel in Dinkelsbuhl -- very historic and right in the middle of town. Highly recommended.

Wow what a great hotel in Dinkelsbuehl. For less than 100 euro, you get a large (40 sq m I think)…read moresuite with a bedroom, kitchenette, living room and bathroom. Even though the building has the historic style, the interior is quite modern. The hotel is right in the center of Dinkelsbuehl, right across from the cathedral. Definitely a good place to stay as you explore the area. If you drive, you'll need to park on the street. The breakfast is quite decent and located across the street. The selection is fine although not that big. The bread though is great!! Slightly different than what you get in the rest of Germany. Definitely need to come back for a longer stay and for checking out the rest of the area

There's lots of attention to small details in this historic inn with magazines and books and games available to guests and a relaxing and beautiful back patio area situated in lush greenery. We were able to park our car easily in the hotel's own back courtyard parking area. Our room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was generously sized. After a month of staying in branded hotels, the Goldenes Lamm was so very appreciated for its homey touches and welcoming atmosphere.

I have to say that I was extremely pleased with this hotel. Having to stay in four different hotels…read morein four nights, I was ver y prepared to have another lackluster experience, however, this spot was lovely! It comes out of the middle of farms and almost nowhere and is a lovely hotel - with very nice staff, lovely accommodations, huge rooms, good food, and everything in between. The scenery is so lovely - especially in the morning when the light was starting to come through the slight fog. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted at check-in. Don't forget to request your internet codes while you are there (one per device though it is free). I took the (small) elevator to my room and was overjoyed to find out that it was HUGE! It had a sitting area and desk and a pretty large bed, and even better, a huge bathroom with new finishes and a rain shower head. I met my colleagues in the bar area for dinner and while I never saw the drink menu, I will say that the house wine I think I ordered was quite good. We all had dinner together in the dining room which was tasty and comes with a salad bar option. Everything was delicious and fresh. The rooms were quiet and I slept well (and also was able to do a bit of work at the desk with a great internet connection). If I could have stayed a few more days, I'm sure I would have also gotten use of the small balcony off of my room. Rumor has it that this spot hosts events and meet ups for the locals on the weekends. It is a huge and lovely property, so I don't doubt that. Definitely worth staying at if you are in the area.

Upon recent softening of the COVID-19 restrictions, we decided to resume our Friday outing group. One of the members suggested we try Colmberg restaurant. We were not disappointed. Since the weather is getting better, both indoor restaurant seating and outdoor biergarten are available. For lunch, reservations are not required. I'd suggest to make reservations if you're interested eating dinner, though. What a delightful dining experience we enjoyed together. I was thinking this would be another very casual dining for lunch as we are accustomed, but instead we were treated like dukes and duchess. Upon entering the hotel-restaurant entrance, we were greeted cheerfully and directed to the dining area. Since we were a group of five, they seated us in a corner table with bench seating and chairs. It was very roomy and nice with wall deco with hunting motif. I thought the menu was substantial offering some fancy Franconian dishes. One unique dish I noticed was venison. I haven't tried any venison since I arrived in Germany, and I jumped on this opportunity. It was really great. The fine red wine sauce and mushroom sauce were very tasty. Klößen (potato dumplings) were very good with the sauce. The rest of our group enjoyed our meal very much except perhaps the one who had salad with fried chicken. It lacked typical Franconian seasoned vegetables underneath the heap of lettuce leaves. Mango chutney was very sweet, perhaps too sweet. Overall, great dining experience with great service. It ended up about 17€ per person.

The restaurant is in a castle that was renovated into a hotel and it has so much art and history on display. During the summer the courtyard seating is so beautiful and you can enjoy the extended twilight hours. This hotel also allows dogs, as do most places in Germany. The prices are a little high but you get really good quality food and service. The only downside is the parking, which can be very tight. I definitely recommend the Schnitzel and the Burgherrenspiess which is a beef skewer. Guten Appetit!
