The ingredients were a little more exotic, yet the price was not overly too expensive. Stuff like Lobster, crab and scallops would not be uncommon, and would taste fantastic oriental style. I had times where we could talk to the waiter and suggest the type of food likes and he would get chef to create some dishes based on that. In which case you could rate the staff as going that extra mile for customer service. This is one of 2 restaurants I would go to on West Street without hesitation.

We had the set menu which has plenty to offer for everyone, and all the food is cooked beautifully. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff will always aim to accommodate anyone's needs. Once you've finished eating that's when the fun starts, the resident DJ plays music all night, current and classics. At about 10pm the lights go down and most people get up on the dancefloor. Our lobster was presented live and huge before being chopped up and braised in a wok with ginger and spring onion. Sublime! We had a selection of 5-6 other dishes, including King Prawn in black bean, baby squid, chilli fillet beef, chicken in yellow bean plus rice. It was £24 per head (minimum of 2). The sake comes warm in its own little bath and the service is impeccable - knowledgeable, friendly staff who really care about their food. This is an outstanding restaurant and one we'll be visiting regularly from now on.

The restaurant was very busy when we walked in, a few minutes early: we were invited to take a seat while our table was made ready, which gave us a moment to look at the delicious Szechuan menu again. We were shown to a lovely table in the middle of the restaurant, up close to the wall so we didn't have people brushing past continuously, bang on our reservation time! We selected a random bottle of wine from the menu (an Italian rose) which was very nice. We elected to start with wan-tun soup and grilled dumplings, which came out piping hot and absolutely delicious. The grilled dumplings were so moorish that we could happily have tucked into another plateful! We chose crispy beef with sweet-piquant sauce and panfried squid in blackbean sauce as our mains, accompanied by steamed rice and Yung Chow fried rice (containing meat and prawns). There was a nice lull in between our starters and main dishes being served which gave us time to enjoy our wine and savour the flavours from the starters more fully. The main courses were exceptional - not only in terms of quality, but also quantity! Lovely tender strips of beef were served in a delicate sweet-peppery sauce which was the perfect companion to the Yung Chow fried rice; my partner was very pleased with his panfried squid (again, plentiful quantity) and found the blackbean sauce quite fiery, although still very tasty and not offputting at all. We found the service to be very swift and courteous - the only things we could possibly find fault with was (a) after the first pouring of wine we were left to do it ourselves (not that we minded!), (b) we left the restaurant without being bid farewell, and (c) critically - the smokers stood outside the front door of the restaurant and as it was a fairly warm evening, the door was left wide open and the smoke blew in constantly. Not nice if you are a non-smoker! The food was exceptional; I think this definitely comes into our top 3 Chinese restaurants in the UK. There is a vast choice on the menu, and the staff will help with selections. The service is quick and efficient I think that they have all been highly trained and it shows. They also do a take away menu which seems to be popular but we haven't tried it yet.

Will definitely go back to check it out further! Ok went back the following night and sat in the restaurant for dinner. Food was very slow getting to the table as they were so busy doing take out orders that they had no regard for the customers in their restaurant. Shame really as the food is really good.
