I was very happy with my experience at this Indian place in the southwestern part of the Staré Město district. The food was tasty, the service was solidly good and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The prices were quite reasonable making this place a very good deal. I noted that the menu offered several Indian favorites. I chose to start with the Tomato Soup which tasted great. It featured just a bit of a kick and was very much to my liking. For my main, I ordered the Chicken Karahi, one of my favorites. It turned out to be excellent. I had Peshwari Naan to accompany my main which was a wonderful complement to the meal. I finished with a nice Masala Chai which provided the perfect end to my meal. My final bill was 265 CZK. This was just under $11 USD according to the exchange rate at the time, which was an outstanding deal. As such, I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment if you are in Prague's Old Town and fancy Indian fare. read more

We stumbled upon this place on a cold Friday night and were craving Indian so decided to give it a try. We both ordered curry, naan bread, rice and masala chai. The curries were both delicious. Fresh, spicy, full of flavor. We ate every bit that was served to us. Presentation was also stellar. Each curry dish is served in a metal bowl that overs over an open flame to keep it warm. We loved it so much that we decided go try out a different curry restaurant in Prague the following night. Did not compare to this place. Gold Tikka is the place :) read more

3.5 stars This place was a little hit or miss for me, but you could have a great meal if you know what to avoid. I started out with some masala tea, which was lukewarm and tasted just ok. Annoyingly, they only offer bottled water and won't give you tap water even if you ask. We started out with the vegetarian samosas, which were decent. Our dal and curries were excellent, definitely the highlight of the meal. We had them with paratha, peshawari naan, and rice. The paratha and rice were good. The peshawari naan was pretty disgusting. It was filled with shredded, sweetened coconut, like the type you would use for baking macaroons or other dessert. It was not very traditional, and it tasted terrible with the savory dishes. They charge extra for rice, which is something that fills me with irrational levels of rage. They also charge extra for raita. I finished my meal off with a sweet lassi, which was pretty good. Overall, it was a good meal, and despite the rude service, we enjoyed ourselves. And despite the extra charges for everything, the prices were reasonable, coming out to a total of about $30 for everything. I'd go back. read more

We came during lunch, so the cheaper lunch special menu was available for our choosing. I'm normally not a fan of Indian food, but this place wasn't bad. It's filling for the (lunch) price and a good break if you're exhausted from all the tourist activities. Price: I had the garlic naan bread on the side with my curry on rice lunch special for about $7USD, which was a fair price. Food: the curry came out on a lunch tray reminiscent of elementary schools, but the food was miles better. It's nothing fancy looking (quite the opposite), but the taste is authentic and not spicy for you non-spice weaklings (like myself). The garlic naan bread wasn't the best and I wouldn't recommend it. The only garlic was what you saw on the bread, since I could never taste any. The bread is also dry, flat, and crusty. I've only had the fluffy, chewy naan so this was disappointing. Service: better than average. The servers were attentive and came multiple times as we deliberated and did their best to explain in English, but there are language barriers. read more

I love Indian food and I have never eaten food this good. One love you cannot skip the service and food is dreamworthy. They even charged our phones when they were dead! We often like to splurge when it comes to indian food.. get a ton of naan, rice and appetizers to go along with our mains and end up struggling to finish, but this time we ordered just enough for the two of us: Beers, rice, naan, a palak paneer, a chicken vindaloo, and a masala papadam. The food came out fresh, hot and was delicious. Food I would give 5/5 absolutely.. we ate every last bite and simply loved it. Only reason I docked a star was for the service, which was good but not anything outstanding. Food was ok, not great. My review is more about the staff. My waiter made me feel very unwelcome. The restaurant was empty yet he treated me terribly because I was solo. When I asked for some water he said he was going to have to charge me. When I asked if it was policy he said it was new. 20k for tap water. It was obvious that he had done this to me only. If this review was based solely on food, I would give it 5 stars. I love Indian food and the flavor here was great for me and my two friends. Some of the best garlic naan I've had and very good size. The general dining experience, however, was not something to brag home about. The wait staff made us uncomfortable because they kept staring at us. Please keep in mind we are 3 mid-20 year-old females who live in Spain, so we are used to not blending in there and getting stares so we usually tend to brush it off. Here, however, it felt like any time we looked up we had eyes on us from the young male wait staff. It seemed like whenever our waiter left the table he would go back to his friends and say something and they would all laugh. We weren't loud, we weren't rowdy, we actually didn't even order a drink. We were just trying to enjoy our meal peacefully which we didn't get to do. This was likely heightened because we went to dinner on the early side and there was only one other party in the restaurant. All in all, not a horrible experience just won't be returning. Can I give 0 stars? The absolute worst service! I've never experienced such blatant racism first hand. Our first evening in Prague after 10 days in Croatia, and craving Indian food, my husband and I decided to try this out given somewhat decent reviews. When I asked if they had a table for two, the server just shrugged and said he couldn't seat us. No mention of wait times etc. just a ridiculous shrug and a hand motion suggesting we should leave. When I asked him about a couple of empty tables, he said, "I need those". We showed our amazement and shock, and he didn't apologize, instead literally shooed us out! I have never been treated to such absurd and absolutely obnoxious behavior, triggered by racist undertones (who said Indians cannot experience racism at an Indian restaurant?!). Stay away! read more

This was my second time here. The first time was with a "regular" guest and I remember the food being quite good. This time the service was totally unremarkable; without any interest although timely. The food was as I remembered, very good. This time I had the fried cheese (paneer pakora) with mint dip. The dip was tasty and refreshing but not wonderful. As entire I had lamb Rohan josh; suggested by the server without expression as I was looking at the lamb choices. I ordered garlic naan with (no rice). It was an amazing combination although messy to eat. Although the dish was quite small (in American terms) it was certainly enough to fill. The decor is underwhelming, as if they serve Indian food in a borrowed generic space. Not the place to bring a first date but certainly a good place to satisfy hunger for good Indian food in a city full of Czech and Italian restaurants. I will return to satisfy hunger for Indian food but probably alone or with a friend that does cares about good food and not ambiance. read more
