Now, one year after surgery, I remain under the care of an oculoplastic surgeon and ophthalmologist because of ongoing problems with my eyes. Despite the passage of time and consistent treatment, I continue to experience significant dryness and irritation. I have required punctal plugs in both eyes, use preservative-free eye drops and ointment, and now need prescription medication in an effort to manage the persistent dryness. I also have to tape both eyelids closed every night because they do not fully close on their own. Unfortunately, these problems have not resolved over the past year and continue to require daily treatment and ongoing medical care.
