The owner is very good at what she does. But demands a 30% tip. Was very upset that I only gave her $20 on a $70 bill. So I no longer go there. Nor do I recommend it because of that. This is the poorest county in all of New York State. Some people are disabled and need the massage therapy and sacrifice a lot of things in order to get the massage therapy. Reason for Visit: I went here for relief from an injury I have. I have muscle adhesions in my right piriformis, which has caused lower back pain, troubles/knots all down my right leg, and eventually contributed to me rolling my right ankle a few weeks ago. Atmosphere: When I got there they were very nice, professional, the place is clean, well decorated, very relaxing, take cash or card. Treatment: I opted for the 60 minute Chinese bodywork massage. It was wonderful. The piriformis can be a tough area to get into, but she knew how to manipulate my leg to get to it, unlike other masseuses I've been too. My lower back, leg, ankle felt so much better after the treatment. I know I'll need more treatments, however now I feel like my leg is getting better vs steadily getting worse. Other Comments: I don't get the previous reviewer. It's an Asian spa, how can you be so ignorant or intolerant to complain about Asian women speaking in their native language to each other. She must complain about cooks in Chinese restaurants, or girls at Korean nail salons too. I also had a second woman join my massage for a few minutes when nothing else was going on. Normally you have to pay extra for the 4 hand massage but they did not add it to my bill. Again, why would the previous reviewer complain about getting a higher level of service is beyond me. Also, as I was coming in 2 different guys were on their way out. Both separately were raving about how good their massages were and how they couldn't wait to return. This was the best massage I've had in my life ! I am 40 years old, I've had a lot of massaged sure multiple arthritic ailments . Also, 4 back surgeries, 2 knee , lots of falls . Four of my falls were suffered over a period of the last 7 days m. Which made my pain intolerable. I needed a professional, immediately, who knew what they were doing and able to treat with a "fragile touch"! WOW!! Just amazing ! Immediately I can walk better, so much pressure was relieved! She was able to physically feel and manipulate the tightness of the muscles and neves to a more manageable pain level. She also knew where they were. As a good therapist does. Very professional, and the cleanliness was above average. I was comfortable, relaxed and enjoyed every moment of those 60minutes. I enjoyed so much and felt such a difference in my gait and mobility, booked a 90 minute massage for 5 days later. Thank you , thank you for relieving some of the chronic pain today . Words can not express what you have done for me today. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone for their knowledge, empathy, cleanliness for the privateness given during a full body as massage session. Everyone was so nice . WARNING So, I've been holding off posting anything for a couple different reasons, but decided people needed to be warned. On my birthday last Wednesday, I went to Golden Sand Asian Spa in the Johnstown Mall to get a 1.5 hr Facial. I had received a GC for there for Christmas. Let's just say, it was the WORST experience I think I've ever had at a "spa"(use that word lightly). I arrive 5 mins early. Women took my gc and brought me in the room. Told me to take off my shoes, shirt and pants....she would not leave the room while I undressed and when I asked for a robe, she insulted me and gave me some wrap thing. During my facial, she answered the phone 7 TIMES in the room and put one call on speaker. Then a women came and wanted to get a massage for her brother who has Down Syndrom. She left me laying there to go out with her employee and argue with this women about not doing the massage. They did not want to give him a massage and they were completely rude to them. I could hear everything as there was only a curtain over my door. I could hear the women say she would pay at the end just like everyone else. The owner proceeds to tell them he needed to keep his shirt on. She came back and whispered something to me. I couldn't hear her so she said it louder. "They Lexington Center. They have no money." I didn't really understand at first what she meant. Then she tells me a story that "People came with Lexington Center, in wheel chairs. They want massage. Their skin was green and it so scary. So scary. I say I can't do it. It so scary. They different. Lexington Center so different." I didn't even know what to say and at that point I had some mask covering my face. Online, the 1.5 hr facial includes a head and neck massage. Well, what I received was her pressing her thumb into the side of my neck(not massaging pushing 1 finger) and into my shoulders. All she kept saying was I needed to Detox... I was literally in tears it hurt so bad. I've had many facials and many massages and NEVER have they been painful or involved jabbing your finger into my neck or shoulder and holding it there with very hard pressure. Finally, she tells me "All done". I get up to get dressed...once again, she does not leave...NO PRIVACY AT ALL. I look at my watch and it's 10:15. Appt started at 9am. I paid for 1.5 hr facial...was interrupted 8 times, and now she ends 15 mins early Does not apologize for the interruptions. Does not offer to take any money off. Hands me a bottle of water and tells me I should come back for a foot detox I cannot make this crap up! It was my birthday and I had to leave for Albany so I just left. I just did not want to ruin my day. My husband said he was shocked I did not complain or leave a review. As you can see...it would be a long one. The positive, the $100 bottle of water was good. Had a Great massage. I'm definitely going back loved it. Better then I thought it would have been.

I had a horrible experience here this past Sunday. For some reason a 2nd employee decided to help message me. It was awkward. What made it worse is that they talked the entire time in a forgeign language! This was not relaxing at all. They were laughing and snickering. And because they were not speaking English I had no idea what they were saying. It was very rude. I went to get a relaxing message and ended up more stressed than when I got there. I would NOT recommend this spa. I regret spending money there. I should have asked for a refund. read more
