I had a very similar experience to several other reviewers, which is why I don't think what happened during our visit can simply be written off as someone having an off day. My party and I (3 people total) happened to visit during Fall Furniture Market, although we didn't even realize Market had already started. We weren't wearing Market badges or lanyards, and afterward I couldn't help wondering whether that had something to do with the way we were treated. When we arrived, the owner was outside by a very large fire pit where he had started a fire. We basically had to squeeze past him just to get into the store, and still weren't greeted. Not a hello, not a "welcome," not a "let us know if you need anything." Nothing. Once inside, not a soul greeted us or offered to help us. Yet strangely, an employee seemed to follow us around as we walked through the store. I obviously can't know what his intention was, but it certainly felt as though we were being watched to make sure we weren't going to shoplift rather than being treated as potential customers. Normally I might chalk an experience like that up to an unusually busy or bad day. But after reading other reviews describing very similar experiences with being ignored or made to feel unwelcome, it doesn't appear that our experience was necessarily an isolated one. Pricing was another frustration. Many items had no visible prices, meaning we would have needed to track someone down just to find out what things cost--the same people who hadn't acknowledged us in the first place. What ultimately concerned me even more was the merchandise itself. There are enormous quantities of furniture and decorative objects with an aged, distressed, antique or vintage appearance. After our visit, I became curious and started researching where some of the merchandise comes from. I learned that Golden Oldies has imported merchandise from Traditional Handicrafts Centre (THC) in Jodhpur, India, a company that manufactures furniture and makes extensive use of reclaimed materials. That does not mean everything at Golden Oldies is newly manufactured. There appear to be genuinely old pieces mixed throughout the inventory. But it did make me realize that old-looking and actually old are not necessarily the same thing. Golden Oldies' own website gave me additional pause. Its product listings include a disclaimer explaining that representations concerning age, origin and materials are best estimates based on visual assessment and available information and cannot be guaranteed with absolute accuracy. That's a pretty important qualification when shopping at a business called Golden Oldies Antiques, particularly if the age or provenance of an object is part of the reason for its price. We actually went there prepared to shop and buy something. Instead, we left without purchasing anything. Between having to squeeze past the owner just to enter without so much as a greeting, being completely ignored once inside while simultaneously feeling as though we were being followed, the lack of readily visible pricing, and my uncertainty about what was genuinely antique or vintage versus contemporary, reproduction, or newly constructed from reclaimed material, I simply didn't have enough confidence to spend my money there. If you decide to shop here, I would recommend asking very specific questions before purchasing: How old is this piece? Where did it come from? Is it genuinely antique/vintage, or is it contemporary furniture made from reclaimed materials? And what information is being used to determine its age? I wish those distinctions--and the welcome--had been much clearer during our visit. read more

If you love rusty unique objects this is a great place for some serious eye candy. The kind of store you see in home improvement shows go to for that one unique item they decorate the living room around. My biggest pet peeve with this place is almost half of their items are not priced. This is a huge waste of time to the lay people who want to spend their money for a unique item but don't want to go to the hassle of asking a busy clerk how much everything cost. So I found this experience mostly a waste of time since most of the items I liked were not priced. It's literally business 101. I also found many of the spaces overwhelming with too much merchandise. This place is not accessible to some people due to their narrow claustrophobic aisle ways. You could probably move more product if things were labeled with prices. Otherwise it seems like you are catering only to the rich who don't need to care about the price. Also the parking for this place is abysmal. They have a parking lot that is being taken up with rusty bulk items. While they are neat to look at the seem better places in metal scrapyard. Most parking for this place is street parking and it's a very small street. This place could be so much better with a few tweaks to their business. read more

Love this place! It's just the coolest collection of things from all over the world. This place is a time capsule but not one of those crappy time capsules that you open up hoping for great treasures but find an old tooth brush and a few books that are worthless....BUT this place is more like going on a expedition with Indiana Jones him self with a historian tour guide of Rick Steves to go through a plunder thus good enough even for Captain Jack Sparrow and his pirates to fine worthy relics for there own collections and decor. Yes, I have a nice collection of my own of tables and different random pieces of decor in my home right now that makes for perfect conversation pieces as the owner himself can tell you where certain pieces came from and came about. This place is a treasure hunters dream. If you're looking for a unique item for your garden, a piece for your living room that will make a statement then I highly recommend you check them out. Yes, most items are not marked but staff were extremely helpful and readily available to assist with prices that come quickly once asked. Definitely worth a try! read more

Cool place with many unique items but pricing is all over the place, No structure or method. Staff takes pic of item, sends to owner which is somewhere else and after a few minutes the "made up" price is relayed. They say they offer "wholesale" to dealers but were unable to offer any percentage or explanations for discounts. I was told the discount depends on the item that I'm interested in.... Animal neglect is not something to stay silent about. The antique store itself has a plethora of interesting objects available to purchase, but what ultimately caught my attention was the pet bird in the store living is squalid conditions. Saw some posts on instagram that enticed me to drive an hour to check this place out. Tons of very unique interesting items. We spent about an hour there and didn't see it all. I'm not giving it a 5 because hardly anything is priced and when you can hunt down an employee to ask the pricing we got the feeling that they are making it up based on their mood and how much they like you. lol. We did buy a few small items and felt like the price was fair. Will likely return. read more

Such an amazing selection of Furniture, decor, and garden items from around the world. I've bought several pieces from them and every time I go their inventory is always changing! A truly unique store with endless inventory. They have two other buildings just down the road so make sure you leave plenty of time to explore them! read more

I wander around this place for too long just looking at all the cool stuff they have. They supply stores, restaurants, and interior decorators, but are also open to the public. There isn't a nook or cranny that doesn't have something cool that you've never seen before! Great place if you're looking for a one of a kind piece! read more

This is not what I would call a traditional antique store. Pretty much everything in it is definitely an antique but it is 90% furniture. Only a few smaller items. Just furniture everywhere. I have never been to a place like this. I have been to furniture forward places, but most of those carry everything from stuff made a year ago to 100 years ago. This is nothing but old and reclaimed. Another thing that was very different was that a really good portion of the items were stripped and ready to be refinished. When I asked a gentleman about it he said that they will strip and refinish anything you want. They also repurpose things, such as old doors turned into tables. If you are looking for big, old, or unique - this is the place! They had items from homes and stores alike. Just some really fascinating pieces I have never seen before. The only negative (that's why I'm giving 4 stars) is that very little is labeled with a price. This is probably because if you want them to work on it it would cost extra, but I don't like not having a ball park understanding when I am interested in things. It always makes me concerned that they are giving me the price they think I would be willing to pay. Based on the few prices I saw and the age, size and condition (really good condition) of most of the items I would guess it would be pricy though. Definitely a place to go if your looking for a unique center piece. read more

I found this store about 2 year ago but swore I would not go back due to the rudeness of staff.But my wife and I return this weekend and it must be under new owners.The store was stocked with great furniture and the saleswoman was incredibly helpful, a big change from my first visit. I t was also much cleaner.we will definitely be back. read more
