My fiancé and I came here to look for a Halim. We didn't know exactly what we wanted, but we went around to a few places. This was the 2nd or 3rd place we went into and right away I knew this was the place. Perhaps it was because I was a seasoned veteran at this point, so I felt better about the price I wanted( I'm not telling you because that's part of the magic and the game).
The men who run this carpet stall are father and son. The father taught us about where the carpets were from. He also told us he had a "sister in Manhattan, 40 years!" Every salesman in Istanbul has a "brother in San Diego." Not sure I believed him, but either way they gave us some Turkish tea and we were on our way to haggle city.
They brought everything in their piles down to show us. It was impressive. We did the dance for a little while, and at the end, we had a price we both liked. They gave us another tea after we made the sale! Well done and Bravo on treatment of the customer. We have some friends coming to Istanbul soon, we will be sure to recommend them to your stall. read more
