We had an entire hour on the water and saw the face of the glacier from every angle. The length of the tour and the multiple once in a lifetime experiences was well worth the price of this tour. Brian and Julie gave a great safety briefing and fit us with warm life jacket coats and ear muffs. We just showed up and everything needed was provided. Captain Brian is very knowledgeable of the area, he grew up spending time in the Taku River passing by this glacier often.

We were picked up from the cruise port and transported to the airport where we were given special shoe coverings and shown safety videos. My fear quickly faded once I saw how beautiful Alaska looked from up above and I was in front (best seat in the house). The ride itself was smooth and fun. Once we landed on the glacier we were able to walk around, take some pictures and even drink up some of the natural glacier water. (Tip: take an empty water bottle). No ear popping, it can be a little crowded, but the cool thing is your ticket is good all day and you can run up and down until the end of the day. A a small cafe, a gift shop, a little auditorium that plays a movie about the history of the tram. We got up to the top. We went hiking on the small trail, but if you have it in your...you can hike up to Browns Cross and get an even better view of Juneau and the surrounding areas. And one ticket will allow you to do it early and then again later? Wow. The staff are friendly and keep things in order. They get you up pretty quickly. There's a $50 credit per tour that applies to the first guest through the "More at Sea" package. You'll also get Latitude Reward discounts depending on your tier. It somehow ended up costing less than $20 for both of us. It's also an all day pass, so you can go up & down as many times as you want. We were one of the first in line that morning. There were only 8 people in front of us. We watched as they were taking the staff up to the shop & resraurants. Before long, it was our turn. The tram was pretty packed with lots of standing room and very few seats. I chose to be on the outer edge with a great view. The climb is steep, and you do go straight up like an elevator for that last push to the top. To be honest, I've been on much higher gondolas (to the top of the Zugspitze near Garmisch). The Goldbelt Tram was an easy ride compared to that. I did like the commentary along the way. It was nice to hear fun facts & history as you're taking in the view of the channel and forest below. There is a gift shop, restaurant, bar, and theater as you get to the top. We opted to take on the Alpine Loop Trail early. We also made sure to stop at the Chilkat Theater to view the "Seeing Daylight" documentary. Don't miss that viewing. It's part of the whole experience. It really puts everything into perspective about the land and its people (Tlinget) who have lived here for centuries. You'll see an ongoing theme as you explore other Alaskan towns. It really ties it all together. We didn't get to try the restaurants. We thought it best to explore Downtown Juneau and the waterfront instead. It was a good decision. It was all very memorable! It was truly one of the coolest and most unforgettable experiences I've ever had with brown bears. I felt completely safe the entire time, and it was absolutely incredible to watch these majestic animals in their natural habitat. Watching them fish was surprisingly fast, sometimes even hilarious! Wild Coast made the whole experience feel both thrilling and respectful to the wildlife. Wild Coast Excursions is the best opportunity to see bears in Juneau and probably Alaska! He kept our group well-informed and about bear behavior and let us know what to expect from the experience while we were out there and afterwards shared photos and videos of our adventure. When I called to report them as missing, I was told that only my case was found. Mind you, my sunglasses were left in the case inside a locked storage unit provided by Temsco Helicopters. Ergo, if they have my case, they must have my glasses. Autumn, the supervisor who helped me, is a complete liar. I told her I would be happy to provide a return label for my case, but she told me she would handle it. It's July 2025 and I do not have my case. This business is not trustworthy and does not deserve your support. Too bad because the glacier is beautiful! Thankfully, you can go with a different company that won't steal or lose your stuff!

The other people on the bus and our bus driver were all great. We all played a "Name that movie soundtrack" game out to the marina and back which was SUPER fun. Once we got on the boat, the staff were all friendly and great and once everyone was comfortably seated on board we headed out. Now the Alaskan coast line was INCREDIBLE and coming from Maine, I fully understand that you cannot predict whale activity. We were out on the water for about two hours and there were a few tail sightings, which were disappointing to me, but I completely accepted with a shrug. The interesting part though, was that everyone else on the boat was FREAKING OUT with happiness over those few tail sightings. They were running to the side of the boat and stretching over with their binoculars, they were laughing and smiling and basking in the Alaskan sun. Clearly the problem was mine!
