My chairs look and feel better now than what they were when I first purchased them. They even did more to my chairs than what I knew and I wasn't charged for the extras. Example: I paid for 1 side of 1 chair to be repaired, but they did all of them, and didn't charge me for the extra ones!!! The cost is also reasonable, compared to other upholstery companies that I contacted, and they charged me a total of $75.00 to pickup my 6 chairs and then return them. My husband and I had six Lane danish modern dining chairs from the '60s that needed new cane backs. The danish modern style weave needed to be ordered specially. Paul already had a relationship with a supplier of this uncommon product. The sheet caning and splines also needed to be dyed to match the coloring of the wood frames. He color-matched it all perfectly. And the caning work itself is really handsome. The chairs have gotten rave compliments for very design savvy friends. Paul is clearly very enthusiastic about the work he does. While my chairs only required sheet caning, he also does the traditional and much more skill-intensive hand weaving He showed me beautiful hand caned work he did as well as rawhide repair and other types of seat weaving. I almost wish I needed some of this work done! Lastly, but also very important is what a pleasant and conscientious person he is. He is remarkably polite and easy to talk to. His prices were very reasonable and he had the work done within the timeframe he originally proposed.

Unfortunately, the last two 'projects' left me feeling totally screwed. The second to last occurred in late 2010 when I had two sofa's two wing back chairs, and dining room chairs and numerous toss pillows re-upholstered. The furniture was delivered at night and went from there van to the moving van headed to California. The furniture 'looked' decent and at that time did not realize what had occurred. When I returned to Philadelphia early Spring 2011 and was in Harry's shop I noticed one of my original down toss pillows covered in green damask. What had occurred was they kept my down toss pillows and replaced with smaller, fake down toss pillows. The second project occurred in 2012 when I had a E.J. Victor sofa, two E.J. Victor chairs and a Baked wing back chair and two ottomans re-upholstered. I noticed once I sat in one of the chairs that the down seat cushion had been replaced with a hard foam seat. A chair that was originally extremely comfortable was no longer. I also noticed the lose back cushions to the sofa are now hard as rocks, the same for the other E. J. Victor chairs lose back cushions, originally down, now hard as rocks. They ruined the furniture! Today, as I checked the sofa in California that once has a down seat cushion had also been replaced with a foam cushion. I inherited this piece of furniture form my god-mother's estate which she purchased circa 1950. I feel totally robbed buy Classic Upholstery. I gave them thousands and thousands of dollars in services and they repay by switching our high quality material for junk. Should you use them, watch them like a hawk! Disappointed, but I had to share this experience. Gregory J. Olson, President, G. J. Olson Architects, Inc.
