Pivot Structures - "Repairs" done poorly on brand new floor

Pivot Structures

(1 review)

A couple of notes for potential buyers who want to live full-time in a container home…read more My wife and I were very excited when we found the Patio Home series by Pivot Structures. It seemed like an affordable solution for first-time homebuyers in a difficult market. I was looking forward to owning a new construction home with minimal maintenance and repairs. Unfortunately, after going through the building process and dealing with multiple issues afterward, I would not recommend this builder for full-time living. Some of the major issues we experienced: 1. Within weeks of moving in, a bathroom leak damaged multiple MDF baseboards, which immediately bubbled and warped. Pivot initially suggested we caused the issue by storing items under the sink. A plumber later confirmed the fittings were installed incorrectly. 2. We experienced multiple electrical issues while running appliances that were supposedly on separate circuits. The electrician who came out stated his company only handled the main line connections and not the interior work. Pivot repeatedly shifted blame to subcontractors instead of taking responsibility. The Interior electrical work is not inspected given these are modular homes. 3. The interior paint colors were inconsistent throughout the home, despite us selecting a single color scheme. Accent walls and doors were painted noticeably different shades. 4. The kitchen flooring was uneven and not flush with the subfloor. The repair work left exposed seams and visible adhesive around the LVP flooring. We also had cracked shower tiles within weeks of moving in. During the repair process, grout came loose in multiple areas and was never fixed. Silicone around the shower pan was poorly reapplied, smeared with dirt, and Pivot later suggested I had done the work myself. 5. The biggest issue has been condensation. These homes are sealed tightly with closed-cell foam insulation, but there is no effective moisture management system. Water constantly builds up on windows and in corners, requiring daily cleanup to avoid damage. In winter, moisture freezes in the window sills and can tear weather stripping if the windows are opened. Our neighbors with the same build are experiencing identical issues. Pivot blamed the window supplier instead of the home design. 6. A dented refrigerator was installed before closing, and Pivot initially blamed the shipper and timeline instead of resolving the issue. 7. The LG WashTower was installed with the shipping bolts still in place, causing the machine to shake violently and damage the drywall. Pivot immediately blamed the appliance settings before acknowledging the installation issue. My wife and I were incredibly excited to become homeowners, but this experience has been a constant source of stress and disappointment. The amount of work and repairs required on a brand-new home has been far from "low maintenance." I'd also question the sustainability claims surrounding these homes. They use one-trip containers, lack a heat recovery system, and rely on inefficient electric heating. Our energy consumption has been higher than comparable homes in the area, despite burning wood for much of our winter heating.

Johnson Storage & Moving - That is a snap container and our move only required three snap containers.

I don't normally take the time to write reviews for things such as Amazon purchases, experiences in…read morerestaurants, etc...but I felt it important to do so after my experience with this company. After researching a number of "national" and local companies, for a work-related move from Greeley to Peyton, CO (including about eight days of gap time between closings, due to staggered closing dates on the sell/buy of homes), I decided to go with the proposal from (Greg Woods) at Johnson Storage and Moving. Greg gave a timely and professional bid that was competitive, and WHAT I actually asked for. (Other competitors quickly responded with quotes, and called to "follow up"...but failed to deliver what I actually requested for my company move). This could have been coincidental, but I suspect not, since I discovered that there's room for dishonesty in the moving industry. Unfulfilled quotes or "brokers" misrepresenting themselves, hoping to be the accepted bid while ultimately unable to deliver. Also...(other companies ignored my request for a "binding" contract...while a few others stated they could provide storage in their bid, only to last minute shuffle things, and step back from the original conversation/intent of our first conversation). Johnson Storage and Moving (Nick+Jason included) delivered on a very competitive proposal, and delivered on a partial pack/storage quote, as agreed upon. Excellent job with communication, follow-up, and the actual moving crew's professionalism/work ethic. Bottom line: I'm not affiliated with this company, nor know anyone from it, but they delivered on price, professionalism, and ultimately - on moving, temporarily storing, and delivering our goods. AND...nothing broken, scratched, or stolen on a 4-bedroom house full of "stuff". :) An A+ in my experience. I highly recommend them. Thanks, Johnson Storage and Moving!

We contacted this company to receive moving quotes from Colorado to Virginia. We were provided with…read moretwo quotes, one for a traditional move and one for a snap container move. We were then asked which move we preferred. We said we only want a traditional move and were fine with paying more to receive that service. The moving company changed our move, without our knowledge or consent, to a snap container move, which is $600+ less than a traditional move. They refuse to compensate us for the difference in price. Stay away from this business. We have found them to be dishonest, disrespectful, and unwilling to do what is right. They worked hard to try to hide the fact that they provided us with a lower-cost service! Poor ethics, indeed. . In the photo you will see what a snap container looks like. . The movers who unloaded our items also damaged the floor and wall of the home we moved into that is only 1 year old. They did not inform us they knicked the wall, either. Very unprofessional.
