I lost my keys, had my puppies loaded in truck and was aimlessly trying to find key fob for about 20 min. I asked him as he was driving by if he happened to see a key fob during his maintenance of park. He pulled over, offered to help look, said no to worry and then found keys within 5 min! Aside from the heroics of him finding the keys, he has a great presence at the park and helped/spoke to a few other people that same morning. Thanks Dennis!

Even at 8:15-8:30 PM on a weekday you can't see play more than one game before people start going up to you saying you can't stay on the court for yourself winner stays. Then they queue up and all and I watched someone just finish a game and queue but we were waiting a lot longer and there were complaints by not even the queue people who let us go ahead of them because some people were calling us out and getting upset that we didn't put our paddles in the board. Good (12) Pickleball Courts but they have exploded in popularity and you have to wait a long time or play later and later now. If it was just me, I'd wait later to play or go on off hours but friends rather go at certain times. Folsom should build more.

We love coming here to play at the big slide, or swing on the varieties of swings they have. My kids are always making new friends here! One on natural grass and the other on synthetic turf. The synthetic field has lights. +2 play areas. +Bike trail that connects to The Parkway system. +Parking lot. I walked on the synthetic turf. Kinda springy. Boy, it was nice on the old knees. FYI- No dogs are allowed on the synthetic turf. Here is a bit of history about the name of the park. The park is named to honor brothers George (1934-2018) and Nick Econome and their respective wives, Marilyn (1933-2020) and Ann. George served as a US Army medical officer in Korea in the late 1950s. Both brothers are licensed pharmacists. They bought Model pharmacy in 1961 when Folsom was a sleepy tiny town and ran the pharmacy for 30 years. They were active in many community organizations and loved to give back to the community. FYI- The Model pharmacy was located in the shopping center where the Big 5 sports shop is located now on East Bidwell Street.

But the trail for golf seems over grown and very full of weeds and stickers that will attach to fluffy dogs if not careful. There were about 5 cars that looked like either someone was living in or very broken down. There were two people who were enjoying their day with chairs and their dogs off leash but didn't bother myself or my dog. It's a decent park and if you have kids the play ground looked fun!

However the new frisbee golf makes that kinda impossible for kids to hang out in the more trees/hills. I wish whoever was in charge of these parks was a little more conscious of where kids like to go when deciding to put the frisbee golf in, and what does that say about future decision making

Adj: Hilltop Handy Family Park with a Happy View…read more This is one of Folsom's hidden gems in our books. We visit Folsom to meet friends and to explore and do nature-type activities as well as shopping and discovered Handy Family Park on one occasion. Handy Family Park is apparently one of Folsom's most elevated parks. Set on a hilltop, it's a lovely neighborhood park. Though it's smaller compared to regional parks, it's actually pretty big, it's just that it's atop a hill so not all of the space is usable for sports courts, but all of it is scenic and most of it is recreational space. You can reach this park by taking the E. Bidwell exit on Hwy 50, and then it's a really quick drive past the Costco and the In-N-Out, then take Scholar Way, and it's at 1560 Cavitt Dr. You can't walk directly into the park from the parking lot b/c you have to go UP to the top of the "hill", so you can either take the stairs or there's a longer path/ramp for ADA accessibility. Thankfully, the bathrooms are at the start of the park/bottom of the stairs so those who need to use the restrooms can get to them without going into the park. Once you climb up, you're rewarded with an amazing overlook of several neighborhoods and the rolling hills of Folsom. I've only been here in the daytime, but I imagine that it'd be extra beautiful after dark when the lights shine and sparkle all over for a night view. The park offers a lighted baseball field, a huge soccer field, a basketball court, open fields for free recreation, and multiple walking pathways that wind around for a nice stroll throughout the park while you get a nice panoramic view no matter which way you look. In addition to the amenities above, there's a barbecue with a couple of picnic tables under a covered pavilion at the edge of the hilltop so it's really a nice place for a picnic or little party. There's also a couple of kids play structure (one for bigger kids and one for the littles). My kids enjoyed playing here and running around when they were younger, but we still like coming here whenever we're in Folsom b/c Handy Family Park got such a scenic view and it's usually not too crowded. It is always a great place to bring our own picnic and hang out as a family in "nature" not too far from all the conveniences of civilization.

My son and daughter were hitting like pros. I must admit my pitching took some time to get the ball over the plate. It was pleasing to see the goats in the area cleaning up the fields. The park is beautiful, and I would like to come back to enjoy all the amenities.

we visited nisenan park for the first time recently - i can't believe i haven't taken my little guy…read morethere previously! it's incredibly clean and was completely empty when we arrived on a sunny sunday afternoon, which meant we had all the swings and slides to ourselves for a good while. the park has a lot more to offer than just the playground. there are picnic tables under a big gazebo, basketball courts, a big water fountain that kids can run through and clean bathrooms. they also allow pets on leash (which is better than no pets at all). it's a great spot for a quick playground sesh, or to hangout for an afternoon.

The park has two play structures, swings, and even an obstacle course structure. My kids really enjoyed the three story tower with three different slides. Looked a little intimidating but kids are fearless. There's a generous amount of grass area for activities and a full basketball court. Parking wasn't a problem for us but there isn't a parking lot. There's no restrooms so plan accordingly.

I stopped by this park with my dog while in the Folsom area. I was looking for a dog park that I…read morecould let him run around in without getting too dirty, especially since it's been raining recently. This park is large and looks brand new, the playground supplies are modern and would appeal to many different age groups. There are also covered picnic tables, walking paths, and a small and large fenced in dog park. We parked in the large parking lot and headed straight to the large dog area of the dog park. It has a double gate which helps make sure none of the dogs get loose, and there are benches around the circumference including some covered for some shade. There is also a water station and dog bags and a garbage for waste. The dog park has wood chips all over it and is a bit hilly. The wood chip covering makes it harder to walk around, but does keep things from getting muddy even when it's raining. You'll want to watch your dogs closely because their poop could blend in with the brown chips and you'll want to find and pick it up so no one accidentally steps in it. My dog seemed to tire out faster than usual while we played catch, I think it was harder for him to run on the wood chips as well and I was a bit worried about him getting a splinter or a weird piece that might hurt his paws. Overall this was a very nice park that is well kept and next time I visit I'd like to explore the walking paths in the area.

The park opened up about a week ago. It's a busy place, lots of folks enjoying the park. It's the…read moreonly park south of Highway 50 in Folsom... so heck yes this place is packed as expected. The park has a parking lot, covered pavilion with picnic benches and BBQs, play area with two zip lines, dog park, one basketball court, two tennis courts, two volleyball courts, and a little league baseball field. But I noticed they don't have a lot of trees planted and the ones they do have are a puny. It will take several years for them to mature to provide shade. An important thing to note is that the basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts are by reservation. Reservations can be made online but cost money $$. 2 hours of volleyball cost $70 and 2 hours of tennis is $50 which is ridiculous! Sure folks can use the courts, without paying, until they're bumped out by someone showing up with a reservation. So this may cause some controversy. Plus good luck to you in using the courts. They've been busy nonstop since the park opened and there is no time limit for folks without reservations. They can bunker down all day long. There are no time limit restrictions. The volleyball courts are on astroturf. The baseball field has a caged bullpen right next to the dugouts. The dog park is fenced in with wood chips as ground cover, and separated by small and large dogs. There are ADA complaint paved walking paths around and within the park's perimeter. Along the path are doggie poop bags and recycle & trash cans making it very convenient to not be a litterbug.
