The owner and lead instructor is Erik Dallberg, an expert all three of the major MMA spots (Wrestling, Muy Thai Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.) Even though Erik's background is in BJJ, he was successful in his first year as a community college wrestler. Erik is a great instructor who walks you through steps as you need them and gives plenty of individualized attention as long as he's not already helping someone else. Highly recommended for beginner, intermediate, and advanced fighters.

And let me tell you, Eric Dahlberg is as good as it gets in terms of coaching. I gave a couple of other martial art places a trial before settling with Ring Demon. Eric doesn't just teach you boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, or jiu-jitsu, he teaches you a way to think about martial arts in general---relying on technique, energy, and leverage instead of strength to defeat your opponents. He is also ALWAYS willing to help out and ask any questions---no private lessons required. I was intimidated at first because the only martial arts experience I had prior to going enrolling in Ring Demon was a few weeks of trial classes and a year of karate way back in high school. But the school's approach to helping new students learn and integrate made me get past my comfort zone and eventually be comfortable enough to learn and spar. Summary: Great coach, great training partners, great environment to learn.

I brought my son in as a wild, high energy 7 year old who couldn't sit still in class for 5 minutes (let alone stop talking for a second ), who at 9 is a respectful, attentive, active participant in all his classes (judo and at school). He is in great shape now and really strives to learn in class. I couldn't be more proud of the young man he is becoming, and I think I owe so much of that to judo, and more specifically, Sensei Tom and Highlands judo dojo. Sensei Tom is an incredibly patient and attentive teacher, who grew up himself in judo and uses his own stories to help the kids understand the important of respect and tradition. The dojo is clean and safe and follows all of the (ever changing) Covid guidelines. My son couldn't be happier, and we as a family could not be more grateful. Highly, truly recommend.

After the open house and meeting Sensei Tom, we decided to try this place as well. Sensei Tom has one heck of a job wrangling everybody from age 6 to 60 in his classes. He's a freaking SAINT when you see his youngest class. Sensei Tom is the perfect mix of patience and discipline for that age group. He must get frustrated at times but it doesn't show. I love watching the kids try new exercises and work together. The dojo itself is clean, doesn't smell, and perfectly simple.

I was hesitant because he's pretty adhd and have had a struggle in school. I've been looking into activities to help him focus and things that could build his confidenc. I called and talked to two people that understood my concer of having a student that has a hard time with direction, and what I was looking for for him. They assured me they work a lot on discipline and focus, and even have seen 180 with kids like him. Well we were asked to leave in the first 20 minutes of his first class. They had helpers and did try to get him to redirect into class and not run around. But they chose to send him out before he was done and told me he might benefit from private lessons. I feel they could have recommended that over the phone when I was going to through my concerns and probably would have liked to try that first if they encouraged it for kids in his situation, that I was very upfront about. It was embarrassing and devastated my kid. I'll find some one that won't give up on him, but not this place and not today I guess.

We asked him in writing to right this wrong. My SIL removes them from karate because they were mean to her ! Not only does he not teach the basics that he professes about telling the truth, showing up he then lies about it. Please make sure you know what training and resources are available if you send your kids to their camps or after school activities. They are not a licensed daycare provider but advertise as such. (I have picture proof that i can share upon request) I'm sure tony will try to have this removed and get his "cult" to respond. I have many parents, grandparents etc that upon calling Tony out have been attacked by his cult following. Feel free to message me for details or with questions about his unethical practices and his refusal to fix his wrongs. I picked this place, paid for the services and he doesn't deserve anyone else to have the same fate that we did. If Tony rights his wrongs I'll update this as truth is important!
