My first visit to the stadium was in April 2022, as I watched Manchester City defeat Leeds 4-0. There are a good number of buses that serve the stadium, which run close to Leeds Railway Station, although the wait before and after the game can be quite a long time. The ground staff and stewards seemed friendly enough and welcoming towards away supporters. I did find it a little difficult to find the away end, which did involve walking the terraces and streets around the ground, signage to find entrances could certainly be an improvement, but this may be down to the local council. The atmosphere in the ground was very good, the ground regularly seemed full and hopefully, an expansion is on the card soon, as it seems Leeds could certainly fill more than the 37,792 capacity they have now. For an older stadium, the facilities were rather good including a Club Store, and a large screen showing the scoreboard and replays. Certainly a stadium worthy of Premier League status. 4*

Leagues are on every night with various levels, as well as pitches that can just be rented. Prices have crept up quite slowly in the past few years. Bar is good, with bar staff usually very friendly. Can be hired out for parties. Parking is not bad, but does get a bit crampt at the peak times through the week.

First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I've been to Elland Road only 3 times, amazingly. Once to watch a game (which was an amazing atmosphere for sure), and twice just as a tourist, including just a few months ago in late 2014 when I was stuck in the UK. It's a fabulous, big, impressive, intense hulk of a stadium. It just really needs some renovation, so that Leeds can have a palace like a lot of other clubs of similar size do. I'm sure it will be renovated but probably not until Leeds get back in the big time. My fave thing about coming here was the banter and the intensity. Sometimes the home fans are a little too aggressive though and things can get violent. Especially when they're facing United. I've never seen Leeds v United at this ground but the game I did see, I could see the extra aggression and intensity and it did scare me. Leeds won, though... so there was no rioting. I've been to most UK & US stadiums, due to lifelong obsessions with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later Liverpool (fave team) around. It's not quite even, one stand is enormous, the other three are medium sized, so for that reason and for seeming so lopsided, it only scores 4 despite an amazing amount of crowd support here. It's an intimidating place to play or see an away game. It used to be called the Old Peacock Ground, and with 38k people squeezing into it, is one of the largest stadiums in the country, especially for non-Prem grounds. It was built in 1897 and renovated many times. It has hosted Euro 96 tournament games, England games, and FA Cup Semi Finals, plus performances from rock bands Queen, U2, Happy Mondays and more recently, the Kaiser Chiefs and Rod Stewart. But the show must go on, so in the name of love, understand that this is how it feels to be lonely, if you don't understand then I predict a riot, and Maggie May start it.

She's still very athletic though, which is why we call her "Wig Ann, Athletic." First-Hand Experience: Wigan is one of my fave underdog teams. I've seen them play once at the DW and twice away from home around the country. They have always represented themselves well. I last saw them in 2011. Now that they have fallen from grace, I wish them a speedy recovery. Their owner's oft-racist and oft-unwise remarks and tirades are the only reason I give them 4 instead of 5. That, and the fact that they can't fill a stadium. This team, I have mixed feelings about. Roberto Martinez and Paul Jewell really put them on the map, two of my favourite managers. But their owner Dave Whelan, famous for making meat pies, is a bit of a racist and nationalist, and gets on my nerves sometimes. I also respect him in other ways though. They were founded in the 1930s so they're a relatively new team. They play in blue and white and are called the Latics. They were in the Prem for ages, until they randomly, crazily won the FA Cup in 2013, and were relegated the same season. That's the only glory the club has ever had, after being the League Cup runner up in 2006. So well done to them for that, what a fairy tale. The stadium is often empty and the owner is questionable, and for that reason I'll give them a 4 instead of 5.

And being a five minute drive from Leeds city centre, it becomes convenient golf on a budget. The perfect place to master your short game, the course only has a few 300+ yard holes, with most being in the late 1 and early 2 hundred yarders. Look out for the WW2 bomb-hole on the seventh! Not beautifully kept, but perfectly playable, and at these prices (£1 for trolley hire) you just have no cause for complaint.
