Huge shoutout to Whole Foods Market for recognizing a…read moresituation and doing the right thing. 91st and Yale location My daughter went to buy some ice cream and accidentally entered the wrong PIN on her card, which caused the transaction to decline. Instead of embarrassing a little girl at checkout, the employee recognized what was happening and kindly pushed the transaction through. I saw the incorrect PIN notification on my phone, immediately tried calling my daughter, and we both went back to settle the payment. That small act of kindness and understanding meant a lot. It's refreshing to see people use good judgment, compassion, and common sense in moments like that. Thank you to the team for handling the situation with such grace.

I said good morning to the two staff members working in the area. No reply. I said good morning again, "is the juice bar open". The male staff person turned his back to me and walked behind the counter...no good morning, no yes it's open, I'll be glad to help you. He went directly to the cash register and said "what can I get you". I asked a question about the juices, he pointed to the menu as if to say everything you need to know is posted here. I quickly became annoyed because I about to have another bad experience with Whole Foods juice bar. I placed my order, received it and left, without any intention to try this juice bar again. SMH....good customer service is a thing of the past apparently.

I've been researching healthy meal delivery services and really wanted to find a local option. This…read moreis by far the most comprehensive I've found. I'm blown away by all the options and dietary accommodations they offer. First of all, their menu changes every single week, so it's not an issue to get tired of the same dish. They email you the menu if you sign up for their newsletter. The different menus they offer are breakfast, smoothies, soups, sandwiches, balanced, lean, keto, bulk, gluten free, diabetic, organic, anti-inflammatory, and vegan. They also have family and kids plans. Meals are $11-15 depending on which one you choose and how many you're getting. They have deals if you buy 5, 10, 15, or get a monthly subscription. Even if you need quick bite or a snack, you can go to their physical location. They have ready to go options in their fridge or you can choose to eat them there as well. Limited seating is available. You can order by phone, text, or online (free delivery if you order over $100). You can also pickup or order through DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. Super convenient! I've tried their mole enchiladas, pesto pasta, chicken piccata, sweet potato cinnamon rolls, flan, and sugar cookies. Each meal has the nutrition content on the side, so you know what you're consuming. Everything I've tried has been delicious! They also have great summer salad options. The chicken beet salad is my favorite. The staff is always helpful and they answer any questions I have. Can't recommend them enough.

The antithesis of my preferred milieus of grungy Mexican restaurants and back road country cafes. Yet, here I am at the counter, with my wife ordering food, that I anticipate will taste like sawdust and fermented alfalfa juice. Why? Due to her upcoming gallbladder surgery, my wife is (temporarily) on a no red meat, low fat, low sugar, low spice, low everything diet. A, this kind of a place diet. [Oh Sh*t, I think I may have just violated a HIPAA law] The store offers breads, coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, salads and soups, and of course, avocado toast. A no brainer for me; the closest thing that I could find to normal food, a roast beef sandwich. Add Kimchi Mustard. Not sure what that will taste like, but with kimchi it can't be too bad. My wife had the chicken broth bowl with rice and all the adds described on the menu. With her meal, a couple of thick slices of the house bread. Hold the butter, tallow or avocado oil. Doctor's order. The roast beef sandwich was an explosion of deliciousness. Tender juicy beef, pickles, a few green plant looking sprigs and that kimchi mustard. Try the kimchi mustard! An amazing unique sandwich. I could even go "a hidden gem of a sandwich." My wife's broth, mild, flavorful just right for her diet. Not as dangerously spicey as my sandwich. The bread here, is an event by itself. Order at the counter. Helpful, friendly service at the counter. If the weather is nice, like today, enjoy the patio. God, I hope none of my buddies who eat at BBD2 Diner next door saw me.

You can still shop from the market though! Food however is amazing! Love the avocado toast especially because of the sourdough bread :) I always buy a loaf to bring home! (Added bonus they offer to slice it for you!) My friend and I each got the broth bowl - mixed veggies, your choice of broth, your choice of meat (or mushroom), your choice of rice or noodles Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are a MUST. Tried the matcha today w/ oat milk - pretty good!! Love that there is NO added sugar. Cute little market with frozen broths, local micro greens, butters, yogurts, salad dressings, kombucha and more! If you leave your phone number you get points!

I am a little annoyed with them. On-line they were supposed to stock Authentic Foods brand flour and they had never heard of it. They told me their store in Bixby would probably have it. First on the list after the plane lands and I suffer through the rental car line is finding a natural grocery store or co-op. Yeah, I could have the hotel breakfast...but why not grab some organic kefir and a piece of seasonal fruit? I could suffer through a greasy, fast food lunch OR...I could grab a protein bar and chillax at the salad bar during my break. You get my drift. Plus, I hate checking bags on the way TO my work destination so I always find that I'm lacking in some lavender body lotion or good chapstick (damn the 3+3+3 rule!). My first trip to Tulsa threw me for a loop, and it took me a whole day to find the Akins. Here's hoping that yelp helps you find it more quickly. I was super-impressed with both the prices and the selection. All the patchouli-laden goodness of the PNW, none of the hippies! Now I call that a win-win! I ended up stopping by the store after the work day each day I was in town just to soak up the atmosphere and marvel at all the local, good food that had to stock the shelves. Thank you for making it possible to still travel like a human, Akins!
