One of the things that turns me off about cooking is that simple meals somehow turn into $80 trips to stop and shop. Part of it is because even if you only need a tablespoon of something, you have to buy a whole container of it. Not so at fiddleheads! Oats, rice, coffee, herbs, spices, you name it- you can buy as little or as much as you need. -the fresh local food. From salmon and beef to fruits and veggies, fiddleheads has a wide range of locally and responsibly sourced fresh food. Some things are seasonal, some things are constants, but the more you shop there you will quickly get an idea of what you can find and when. -of course, the staff. Every single employee I've interacted with in my many years of coming here has been friendly, helpful, and respectful. You see a lot of the same faces year after year, and I get the impression that people truly enjoy working there. They recently just celebrated 16 years in business, which is no small feat for a co-op swimming in a sea of big chain grocery stores. For me, it's certainly not hard to see why.

Went to the cart area with my quarter to get a cart. There are two rows so the first one Inn n out the quarter in and tried to pull the cart back. Looked like someone had jammed it into the other carts so I couldn't pull it out. Took my quarter out and went to the adjacent row and tried to pull that one out. Same thing, the cart was jammed in with the seat area flipped up just enough that it was catching on the ones behind it. Went back to the first one and tried to reach in to move the piece son it would release but to no avail. So went inside cart-less. So they didn't have the items we were looking for so I guess I didn't need a cart after all. Was in a hurry, otherwise I would have talked to an associate about the cart issue.

I got their "second best coffee in Mystic" and it was lovely enough to be the best! I ended up envying my friend who asked a few more questions tbough, because they will also brew you a cup of anything in their extensive loose leaf tea collection. A lot of business have the basic aesthetic of a sustainable environment friendly business but this one delivers and with support for local farms. not only do they have eco-friendly products but a container library that does not require endless plastic containers and makes it easy to make good choices! I also love the mural and seating area. Clean restrooms with the "un-paper towels" they also sell by the roll - made me glad we purchased!
