We were treated like royalty, reception booked us in for our evening meal at Castell Deudreath (the more modern hotel and restaurant in Portmeirion Village) and even booked the complimentary taxi service for us so we didn't have to walk up the hill. The meal was superb and the taxi brought us back to our hotel when we were finished. Our room was perhaps a little dated but charming all the same and very pretty and this was all forgotten the folowing morning when we woke up to breakfast in bed and the gorgeous view of the estuary as the sun slowly rose in the sky. I long to return to The Hotel Portmeirion again to fully explore the village and enjoy the tranquility and service we experienced there.

The hotel looks nice enough from the front, staff are friendly (rhai yn siarad Cymraeg hefyd) and the bar area all modern. Bedrooms desperately need updating though. Carpets holey, shower poor, tiles ungrouted, fire door fixed with cardboard. That said it was spotlessly clean so I would stay here again, just desperately needs a refurb.

The lady that checked us in (forgive me as I cannot remember her name) was lovely! So helpful and friendly. The room was only a standard and yet so spacious and wonderfully decorated. ROOM: Great size, nice en suite, nicely furnished, clean bed linen, towels, etc. TV worked and there was a nice little refreshment tray with choice of coffee grounds for a 2-cup cafetiere, teabags, instant coffee and hot chocolate and nice biscuits. FOOD: The food was really good quality and there was a great range on offer on the menu (see my pics) for both breakfast choices and evening meals. The restaurant was in a separate adjacent room to the pub so it was less busy and more comfortable. For our evening meal, we ordered a Fishmonger's board to share (smoked trout, smoked salmon, peeled Atlantic prawns and beer-battered fish goujons) - it was delicious and there was enough for at least 3 people to share! For our mains, we ordered the 8oz sirloin steak and a mushroom open ravioli - both of which were well cooked and tasted great! BAR/PLACE: The bar was lively so beware if you're staying over the weekend and want early nights. When booking, I would suggest you ask for a room on the second floor. We were directly over the bar and the noise was gone by 1am and it wasn't so bad. There was also ample room to sit outside. There's a children's play area too. There's also a function room which has a mini dance floor - perfect for birthday parties.

Cozy Country Charm…read more We stayed only one night in this wonderful charming hotel. Wish we could have stayed a bit longer. The hotel has been upgraded beautifully by owners James & Amy. James made us a wonderful breakfast and even made it according to our dietary needs. Amy is a delightful host and makes their guests feel right at home. The place is so clean and cozy. I would stay here again. It was a treat on our UK tour.

It's blocked by trees. It sounds idyllic, but it's not. The proprietors are nice, but I get the sense that this place is not very busy because nothing is upgraded at all. Towels are thin and old. The cold breakfast consists of low quality items. I wish there had been reviews. This is one to avoid.
