Hands down the most memorable experience I had in NZ. There's many groups and tours I think that combine the glow worm experience with another excursion, but if it's the glow worms you're prioritizing whilst in NZ, go with Glowing Adventures. Their family-run business is absolutely professional and caters to the tourist on a whole 'nother level. The tour is right at 3 hours in total, and the groups are kept quite small, no more than 8 I believe at any given run. Our guide Ash was the icing on the cake to a spectacular experience - super upbeat, unrushed and sincerely mindful that every person leaves having had the best day!
I'd also like to point out a major general perk of this glow worm tour - the facilities and provided gear! At first I thought I might prefer my own warm layers and boots, but once you see yourself afterwards, you'll be glad the task of cleaning and re-packing anything of your own is NOT on the agenda! (Yes, a bit of mud and moisture is on the menu, but I promise it's worth it for the sights you'll see) And the changing and shower facilities afterwards make for a truly worry-free experience. .. Have a quick hot shower, a provided spot of tea and a biscuit and you'll warm up in no time! It really made for quite a pleasant afternoon (we elected for the noon tour). Also the surrounding grounds make for beautiful photos.
Nevertheless, if EXPERIENCING the glow worms is important to you on your holiday versus just SEEING them, go with Glowing Adventures. read more
