The only MMA gym in the area open late! There are 9 PM classes so it fits my schedule.

Neither of us had any experience with Muay Thai before but we were up for the physical and mental challenge of learning something new. They do offer a trial class for you to go and see if you like the atmosphere and the sport itself. I would highly recommend doing a few private lessons to really master some basics that you can then implement in the class. That's what we did, we did private lessons weekly for close to 3 months before enrolling in the classes themselves. Im glad that we did that as I felt much more knowledgeable and comfortable going into class and knowing what I needed to work on to improve. The people that work there are wonderful and the students are great too! Everyone is very inviting and friendly which I think is important for a new person stepping into an atmosphere, that from the outside, might look intimidating. If you're considering a martial art to try Muay Thai is fun and an intense workout! But they do also offer BJJ, I do not practice this so cannot personally touch on it, but I have friends who do those classes and they love them! All in all, it's a great facility with amazing people making it a fun experience, intense training session, all for an affordable price. You're missing out if you don't at least look into Hinds!

Coach Stephanie kept wasting time flirting with people while the lesson was going on and coach Kyle is a complete sociopath who does not know how to talk to people and actually tried hitting on a 17-year-old girl was to turn 18. I even saw online that he went to prison. Also, he doesn't really want to train you guys. he just likes taking advantage of lower belts

Professors Danny and Royce are both exceptionally knowledgeable and technical. Both professors are black belts with an amazing lineage and have trained extensively at the world renowed Renzo Gracie Academy (i.e., the Blue Basement) in Manhattan. They have a remarkable ability to break down even the most complex jiu-jitsu techniques into easy-to-understand concepts, making learning accessible for everyone. The academy is fantastic for children, offering a supportive and safe environment for kids to learn jiu-jitsu. Beyond the physical benefits, training helps kids build confidence, discipline, and resilience. For adults (male and female), whether you're just starting or you've been training for years, City Jiu Jitsu Academy has something for everyone. The professors cater to different skill levels, and the community is incredibly welcoming. It's a perfect place to challenge yourself and grow in your jiu-jitsu journey. The facility is exceptionally clean, has a large reception and mat space, private shower rooms, mens & women's locker rooms, and is conveniently located steps from the Vernon Jackson 7 train stop. Don't hesistate to come in a train!

I received a call from David who answered all my questions and invited me to try it without strings attached. I was on the fence for a few months not sure if I wanted to try until I decided to give it a shot. Their schedule was perfect because it was 20 mins away from where I live/work and I could pop in right after work. So I said you know what I have nothing to lose. Did the trial and I am hooked ! Going 6 months this coming month. I love the place . It's clean, well kept, the trainers are wonderful and it has a very welcoming and engaging atmosphere. I think I found my sanctuary :)

Immediate 5 stars for that, friendly, open and engaging, with rolling that was controlled with escalating intensity that remained safe. One of the few places I have been to that took time before rolling to remind people to be open to a conversation about your physical state and goals for that session. Safe, controlled, technical and open to higher intensity when both parties are up for it. Various skill levels from beginners to old school black belts. I can not sing the praises of the environment more. MORE IMPORTANTLY! The locker rooms and showers were top 5 for all the places I have trained. I feel blessed if there is one warm shower with decent water pressure and a line that is less than a 10 minute wait. This place has a locker room, with over size lockers for gear, and multiple showers with those giant square rainfall overhead shower things that feels like you are in a warm monsoon and I didn't feel guilty for taking a shower that was longer than a minute. Also soap and shampoo provided, or I stole someone's shampoo without knowing. Either way it was great.
