Saw "Tackle: A Football Play" and I think the Riders should file suit for slander. Our suspicions…read morethat this would be a low-brow play began when we noted the average age of the audience was mid-sixties. Incidentally so were the actors, who performed admirably despite more than one recovering from apparent knee surgery. The play progressed aimlessly and never actually concluded. Although the actors were passionate, they demanded their parts should be extended. They adlibbed lines frequently and missed cues just as often. What do I know? The elderly in the room were thrilled. Mostly due to the audacious volume of the sound system -- my hearing is returning after 4 hours, but the memories haunt me. Despite the high ticket price, the poor service, extremely crowded atmosphere, blaring audio, and terrible play, the buffet meal exceeded expectations.

New Years Eve Gala - Dueling Pianos @$75 pp table of 8 people in our party…read more Age range 50 - 54 Do I start with the good news or the bad ? Maybe I will comment in chronological order. 1. Service - bar: non-existent. 15 people called in sick....Really!! On New Years Eve, hmmmm , me thinks perhaps atleast half of those "sick" people took advantage of a situation where the flu bug was making its rounds. If I were the manager (which we heard that there wasn't one) or whomever is in charge, there should be a prompt staff meeting @ 8 am Jan 2nd. I believe that some of those staff would have their walking papers. To top it off, if I had been told that 15 of my staff would not be available on what I would assume could be the busiest night of the year, then I would have been calling every relative, friend and/or acquaintance to please!!!! come help! In this day and age of social media, help is not too far away. You should never be in a situation that your paying customers are assisting in the service!! 2. The food - atrocious!!! Our table agreed that this was perhaps the worst meal we each had ever had! Our neighbouring tables of 12 and 4 also said the same thing. NOT GOOD FOR YOU!! When you are scared to eat the beef because of it being too raw (even for 2 former cattle farmers at our table) , the chicken was over and under cooked. The potatoes were crunchy. I don't know how as they looked as though they were leftover homefries that were twice cooked! The buns dry , the lasagna - disgusting! etc etc etc. Such a disappointment considering the cost of the ticket and the expectation from a New Years Eve meal. I genuinely feel sorry for the staff who were there and were trying to run the whole thing which was almost impossible. Even the 25% discount (bar only)couldn't save their ass! I have a gut feeling that we well be saying that we were present at the evening that put the final coffin nail into the existence of Applause dinner theatre! 3. Now the good - The Dueling Piano guys from Calgary were the only saving , entertaining grace you had left and they succeeded in keeping your clientele around for the evening. They probably had to pull out all the stops in the first half hour (which they did) to save you all from having an empty auditorium ! IT'S TOO BAD....honestly! It was nice to think that Applause was a different form of entertainment to attend in South East Saskatchewan. I feel bad for the other 7 people that I talked into buying a ticket! Thank God for the entertainment or I would have felt I needed to reimburse my friends for their evening . Somehow, a $75 pp evening ended up as a $25 pp evening and and $20 of that would go to the entertainment. Sorry, but true! To add insult to injury, any person who criticized the evening through Applause's FB page were told that they weren't welcomed back because they only wanted a forgiving audience. Once they got some negative feedback on that comment they pulled their horns in and gave out contact information so that dissatisfied customers would either get a discount, gift certificates or refunds. The next day, all posts and their responses were removed. Also, they removed all posts that asked why the first posts were removed. ....YIKES!! That is why I posted on Yelp....she can't remove this!
