I love how this place is hidden away and you have to go through the little tunnel with the book market to get there. The courtyard is so lovely, especially in summer with the roses growing. Tourists often take pictures here as well because it such a photogenic place. Inside there are many classrooms but not that much other facilities. There is no restaurant but the Atrium is at 2 min walking distance because it is located in the building next to this one (so it's almost like it is the same building). Inside Oudemanhuis there is a coffee corner where you can get coffee, tea and other drinks. There are sandwiches and a few pastries as well so I'm glad I can still get my coffee and maybe a snack in between classes.

The passage from the canal to the university dates back to 1601. When this building was used as an home for elderly men. That's why it's called Oudemanhuispoort. In the passage there is a little bookmarket and also a great route for tourists who want to go to Waterlooplein. The building itself gives you a flasback in time as the inside is completely modern. When you're in the building it takes you away from the busy city of Amsterdam. Which is good if you want to study ;). This is mainly the law faculty, social involved studies and philosophy are also held here. I have been to other buildings of the UVA but this will always be my favorite. Am a bit biast ofcourse.

Crea is a part of the University of Amsterdam where you can follow all kinds of creative courses…read moreand also take part in arts activities unrelated to your course of study. They have the Crea Orchestra, made up of students studying subjects other than music but who want to play in an ensemble. You can also rent the studios for a not too terribly expensive fee to rehearse with your ensemble/band. Technically at least one person in the group is supposed to be a student but there are ways around that rule if you're determined I've come to Crea several times for rehearsals, and also once for an improv comedy show. There are regularly shows and concerts in both the theater and the Crea cafe.

Crea is a really nice place to follow all kind of creative courses in your free time. Courses start…read moretwo times a year and the sure have a lot; all kind of theatre, singing, writing, Photoshop, painting. Their will be many things you'll like. Which I also love are their summer classes. You follow a intensive 1-week course and even eat there and go to theme nights. And the end of the week all week courses present their work to each other (writing course students read their stories, there are performances from the singers and actors, and of course expo's from the art courses.) It's a lot of fun with awesome people. Prices are also great!

I took the intensive four hour a day, two week course…read more- we had two teachers, one in the morning and one in the evening, two teachers with different styles but both a lot of fun and very responsive to the specific pupils in the class. I took their second level class. By the end of the first week, I had gained enough confidence and sentence patterns to be able to actually function for the first time in Dutch for simple things like buying in stores - I was impressed. Highly recommended!

This was the worst experience of my life. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. The…read moreeducation was poor and the treatment was worse. There is a culture of silence here, so you will not see the bad reviews in the open, but the institute is notorious when you talk to anyone outside of it, usually you are met with a drop in expression and words like "I have never heard so many negative reviews about one place, how is it still allowed to be open?" The teachers are very arrogant, and the racism is very strong. You will have a very tough time if you do not fit their ideal vision of what an AMFI student should look like, which is rich and white. I am scared to even post this in fear that I will be made fun of and degraded by the teachers and my peers again. I have never felt worse about myself until I came here, and I have never been treated so poorly in any other establishment.
