The administration has no idea how Ms cotton ran her class, or they were purposefully defrauding the government and students. I walked away no better then if I had watched a few YouTube videos. The teacher was always late and confused, our course was cut by weeks and she rushed through everything barely covering 20% of the material. There was no feed back, no assistance on her part, she didn't care if you did the homework or not, or if you questions. Her attitude was you'll learn once you get hired. We never EVEN opened our book or course materials. On the last day when she literally tried to cram the exam, CPR and the X-rays all in one day, she literally gave the students all the answers to the tests. And of course she did this knowing none of us knew anything that was covered on the test and therefore probably wouldn't pass. They rely on the students passing to get the grant money. I was embarrassed to say I was certified at every office I applied. I went there hopping to better myself and get a job where I could earn a living wage. You do not walk out with the necessary tools to do that or complete in the real world, I would have been better off doing anything else. They are scam artists.

Meeting with my students was so fun and I was glad I could make a difference in their lives. Both Irma and Roxanne helped me out a lot and strive to make a difference in the Whittier community. Irma was so kind and always helped me in any way possible, even outside of the workplace. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is an ESL student or did not get the full training in literacy. I also recommend this place to any kids that are behind in school. Prospective families should be aware that the Executive Director does not operate in true…read morepartnership with parents. When concerns are raised, communication is handled in a dismissive manner rather than through collaboration or dialogue. Parent input is acknowledged superficially, key points are bypassed, and agreements made at the classroom level are not upheld at the executive level. After receiving an assessment that did not accurately reflect our child's abilities (completed less than two months into enrollment), we raised concerns about the lack of context, narrative, and communication. The teachers acknowledged the assessment was not an accurate reflection of her capabilities and agreed it should be updated to reflect her short acclimation period and current capabilities. However, when this was escalated to the Executive Director, those agreements were disregarded. Rather than updating the assessment as discussed, leadership insisted on singling out a child instead of correcting an administrative misstep. Requests to simply revise the original assessment with accurate context were dismissed. When we expressed concern about the long-term academic implications of having an inaccurate student record, we were dismissed. The Executive Director superficially acknowledged our concerns, and reasonable requests were met with inflexibility rather than problem-solving. A school's culture is shaped from the top. If families are leaving, leadership may want to reflect on how parent advocacy is received and addressed.
